Allergic rhinitis (AR), a prevalent chronic inflammatory respiratory disease, is increasing in global incidence, significantly compromising patients' quality of life and imposing considerable socioeconomic burdens. Given the limitations of current clinical treatments, elucidating the pathogenesis of AR is critical for advancing precision therapeutics. Programmed cell death (PCD), which encompasses apoptosis, autophagy, pyroptosis, and other forms, plays a pivotal role in AR.

Background: APE1 is a multifunctional enzyme with 2 distinct functions-endonuclease activity in its C-terminal domain and redox function in its N-terminal domain. The redox activity of APE1 regulates a subset of transcription factors involved in cell survival, angiogenesis, and inflammation. However, its role in chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) with nasal polyps is not fully understood.

Background: Sedated gastroscopy poses risks for patients with upper respiratory infections. The optimal timing for performing sedated gastroscopy in patients with acute SARS-CoV-2 infection is uncertain.
Methods: We retrospectively collected data from patients who underwent sedated gastroscopy at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University between December 19th 2022 and January 20th 2023.
Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a heterogeneous condition characterized by persistent inflammation and high recurrence rates. The mixed granulocytic endotype, marked by increased eosinophils and neutrophils, is particularly refractory and prone to relapse.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the papain-induced mouse model for investigating the more refractory mixed granulocytic CRS endotype, characterized by elevated eosinophils and neutrophils.

Introduction: Skeletal degenerative diseases and psychiatric disorders often coexist clinically. However, the genetic correlations and underlying biological mechanisms between these two types of diseases remain unclear.
Objectives: To investigate the genetic correlations between skeletal degenerative diseases and psychiatric disorders and to identify shared genomic loci, genes, and pathways.

Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNPs) involves persistent sinus inflammation, with emerging evidence suggesting a potential role of rhinovirus (RV) in its pathophysiology. However, whether RV exists in nasal tissues and affects the nasal mucosa after the resolution of infection symptoms remains unknown.
Objective: To investigate the prevalence and impact of silent RV infection in nasal tissues.

Purpose: We conducted a prospective, real-world study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of balanced propofol sedation (BPS) in bronchoscopy and identify an advantageous sedation regimen for such procedures.
Patients And Methods: The participants were placed in four groups based on their sedation regimen (exposure factor): the M-S group (midazolam + sufentanil for traditional sedation), R-S group (remimazolam + sufentanil for traditional sedation), M-S-P group (midazolam + sufentanil + propofol for BPS), and R-S-P group (remimazolam + sufentanil + propofol for BPS). The primary outcomes included satisfaction metrics (satisfaction of the patients, endoscopic physicians, and nurses) and follow-up questionnaires.

Background: Capsule endoscopy (CE) is widely used for intestinal examination; however, capsule aspiration into the airway is a serious complication that requires urgent intervention. We present a management case report and review 39 cases from 2003 to 2023, providing insights into the prevention and treatment of capsule aspiration.
Case Presentation: A 69-year-old man with chronic bronchitis and emphysema presented with 7 months of intermittent melena.
Neutrophilic inflammation contributes to multiple chronic inflammatory airway diseases, including asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP), and is associated with an unfavorable prognosis. Here, using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) to profile human nasal mucosa obtained from the inferior turbinates, middle turbinates, and nasal polyps of CRSwNP patients, we identify two IL-1 signaling-induced cell subsets-LY6D club cells and IDO1 fibroblasts-that promote neutrophil recruitment by respectively releasing S100A8/A9 and CXCL1/2/3/5/6/8 into inflammatory regions. IL-1β, a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in IL-1 signaling, induces the transdifferentiation of LY6D club cells and IDO1 fibroblasts from primary epithelial cells and fibroblasts, respectively.

Methods: A total of 108 outpatients who underwent diagnostic gastrointestinal endoscopy were randomly divided into three groups: fentanyl plus remimazolam group (group C), TEAS plus remimazolam group (group E), and placebo-TEAS plus remimazolam group (group P). The assessments of patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, and pain scale score during the examination constituted the primary endpoints of the study.
Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Minimal persistent inflammation (MPI) is a major contributor to the recurrence of allergic rhinitis (AR). The traditional Chinese herbal medicine known as Bimin Kang Mixture (BMK) have been used in clinics for decades to treat AR, which can relieve AR symptoms, reduce inflammatory response and improve immune function. However, its mechanism in controlling MPI is still unclear.

To clarify the mechanism of action of BSHXF, we validated the rat intervertebral disc degeneration model and the nucleus pulposus cell degeneration model.
Methods: In an in vivo model of IVDD the study explores the impact of BSHXF on mitochondrial function, pro-inflammatory cytokines, pro-apoptotic factors, and matrix metalloproteinases.
Background: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a highly prevalent chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract. Previous studies have demonstrated that Bimin Kang Mixture (BMK) is effective in alleviating AR symptoms and reducing the secretion of inflammatory factors and mucin; however, the precise mechanisms underlying these effects remain unclear.
Methods: We built target networks for each medication component using a network pharmacology technique and used RNA-seq transcriptome analysis to screen differentially expressed genes (DEGs) for AR patients and control groups.

The ancient fossils are formed by the ancient animals and plants after a long geological period and geological processes. They have witnessed the history of the earth and recorded the information of the evolution of the earth’s ecological environment; Meteorites traveling in the solar system for a long time with the abrasion of nuclear reactions and atmosphere of the universe, have formed a unique shape and texture. They recorded the original information about the formation and evolution of out space.

The 6-dye GlobalFiler™ Express PCR Amplification kit incorporates 21 autosomal STRs, which have been proven that could provide reliable DNA typing results and enhance the power of discrimination. Here we analyzed the GlobalFiler STR loci on 1962 unrelated individuals from Chinese Uyghur population of Xinjiang, China.

ADMSCs are heterogeneous cell populations with pluripotent capacity to differentiate into different types of cells. In the present study, we investigated the biological characteristics and differentiation potential of CD73-positive (CD73(+)) and CD73-negative (CD73(-)) ADMSCs.
