Objective: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a frequent complication during pregnancy, which can cause many adverse effects on mother and baby. Although existing literatures have found that patients with gestational diabetes can benefit from adhering to dietary interventions, many pregnant women exhibit low dietary intervention compliance, leading to unsatisfactory blood glucose control. The qualitative research study aimed to identify the influencing factors of dietary intervention compliance among pregnant women with GDM using the capability, opportunity, motivation, and behavior (COM-B) model.

Background: Electronic patient-reported outcome (ePRO) systems have significant potential for providing individualized and continuous nutritional management for patients with cancer. However, adherence to ePRO-guided nutritional interventions varies significantly, and the key factors associated with adherence remain poorly understood. This study aimed to assess adherence to nutritional targets via ePRO platforms and identify predictors influencing adherence to optimize management strategies.

Tricyclic carbazoles are significant pharmacophores. Herein, heterologous expression of the carbazole-3,4-quinone () biosynthetic pathway in the chassis host J1074 yielded a previously chemosynthesized orthoquinone carbazole () and three new -acetylated carbazoles (-). Their structures were established by a combination of HR-ESI-MS, NMR, and X-ray crystallographic analysis.

Carboxyl polyethers from have diverse bioactivities, being biosynthesized by type-I polyketide synthetases. Of them, ionomycin, the commercial calcium ionophore, bears a unique enolized 1,3-diketone moiety. Herein, mutagenetic analysis of ionomycin biosynthesis revealed a rare dehydrogenase gene J putatively involved in enol moiety formation.

Objective: To examine the application of a novel pedagogical approach multidimensional supportive psychological intervention (MSPI) in the clinical practice teaching of andrological nursing care.

Methods: Using the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), we assessed the psychology of 100 nursing interns about to enter clinical practice in the Department of Andrology from December 2021 to December 2022. We equally randomized the subjects into an experimental and a control group, the former receiving MSPI and the latter trained on the conventional teaching model without any psychological support intervention.

Two new cytochalasans, marcytoglobosins A (1) and B (2) were isolated from the marine sponge associated fungus Chaetomium globosum 162105, along with six known compounds (3-8). The complete structures of two new compounds were determined based on 1D/2D NMR and HR-MS spectroscopic analyses coupled with ECD calculations. All eight isolates were evaluated for their antibacterial activity.

Background: Natural tetramates are a family of hybrid polyketides bearing tetramic acid (pyrrolidine-2,4-dione) moiety exhibiting a broad range of bioactivities. Biosynthesis of tetramates in microorganisms is normally directed by hybrid polyketide synthase (PKS) and nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) machineries, which form the tetramic acid ring by recruiting trans- or cis-acting thioesterase-like Dieckmann cyclase in bacteria. There are a group of tetramates with unique skeleton of 3-(2H-pyran-2-ylidene)pyrrolidine-2,4-dione, which remain to be investigated for their biosynthetic logics.

Glycosylation at C3-OH is the favorable modification for pharmaceutical activities and diversity expansion of 20(R)-dammarane ginsenosides. The 3-O-glycosylation, exclusively occurring in 20(R)-PPD ginsenosides, has never been achieved in 20(R)-PPT ginsenosides. Herein, 3-O-glycosylation of 20(R)-PPT enabled by a glycosyltransferase (GT) OsSGT2 was achieved with the combined assistance of AlphaFold 2 and molecular docking.

Hormone supplementation is one of the common therapies for menopause-related disorders. Among different tools, the ovariectomy (OVX) rodents are widely accepted as an appropriate menopausal pain model. Our previous study has showed that OVX produces a significant pain facilitation in both acute pain and tonic pain, however, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • The study looked at how different treatments on a point in the body called "Zusanli" affect certain cells in the skin, after putting in special materials called catgut and PGLA.
  • Researchers used rats to test these treatments and checked how many of these skin cells were active and how much of certain substances they released at different times after the treatment.
  • The results showed some differences in the activity of these skin cells between the treatments, especially between 8 hours and 21 days after the embedding, but overall there weren't huge changes compared to the blank group.

Article Synopsis
  • Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma with varying treatment approaches across regions, particularly in Asia and China, where specific data on treatment outcomes for Asian patients is limited.
  • This study analyzed 805 MCL patients in China from 1999 to 2019, using statistical methods to evaluate survival rates and factors influencing prognosis.
  • Findings indicate that treatments like high-dose cytarabine and autologous stem cell transplantation improve survival rates, emphasizing the importance of maintenance therapy and the potential benefits of newer drugs for relapsed/refractory MCL patients.
