Purpose: Ventilation tube (VT) insertion is the most common surgical procedure in children, but there is known significant variation in post-operative management regimens. Background: Elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI) is a Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR) therapy that improves pulmonary function and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) in cystic fibrosis (CF) adults with at least one copy of the F508del CFTR mutation. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of ETI on CRS symptoms in children and adolescents with CF.

Nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) mediate all traffic between the nucleus and the cytoplasm and are among the most stable protein assemblies in cells. Budding yeast cells carry two variants of NPCs which differ in the presence or absence of the nuclear basket proteins Mlp1, Mlp2, and Pml39. The binding of these basket proteins occurs very late in NPC assembly and Mlp-positive NPCs are excluded from the region of the nuclear envelope that borders the nucleolus.

Cryptococcal meningoencephalitis (CM) is an opportunistic fungal infection and a major cause of death among people living with human immunodeficiency virus in sub-Saharan Africa. 5-flucytosine (5-FC) is a unique, brain-permeable antifungal agent used to reduce mortality from CM and to prevent disease in individuals carrying cryptococcal antigen. 5-FC has a short plasma half-life, requiring 6-hourly oral dosing with an immediate-release (IR) formulation, a significant challenge in hospital and outpatient settings, risking a lack of compliance.

A key adaptation of plants to life on land is the formation of water-conducting cells (WCCs) for efficient long-distance water transport. Based on morphological analyses it is thought that WCCs have evolved independently on multiple occasions.
