Aberrant DNA methylation (DNAm) is the most well-defined epigenetic hallmark in gastric cancer (GC), which may be associated with a variety of risk factors exposure. In this study, leveraging the multi-omics data of Genome-wide association studies (GWAS), methylation quantitative trait locus (mQTL) and expression quantitative trait locus (eQTL) collected from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) Project and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, a joint analysis of cox proportional hazard regression and Summary-data-based Mendelian randomization (SMR) analysis were adapted to investigate the causal associations of DNAm, gene expression and the GC prognosis. The results showed the causal association of hypermethylation of cg16007185, down-regulation of TMX1, and poorer prognosis of GC patients.

Tobacco smoking is a well-established risk factor for bladder cancer, which shows connection to cell senescence in various diseases. However, the regulatory mechanisms linking tobacco smoking exposure to senescence regulation in bladder cancer remain incompletely characterized. In this investigation, we demonstrated that the smoking carcinogen 4-aminobiphenyl (4-ABP) inhibited cell senescence while enhancing proliferative, invasive, and migratory capacities of bladder cancer cells, as evidenced by SA-β-gal staining, western blot and cell malignant phenotype experiments.

Many investigations have highlighted the involvement of the intestinal microbiota in the progression of cervical cancer lesions; however, the causal link between them remains to be confirmed. We employed two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) as a alternative to randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to explore the association between intestinal microbiota and high-risk Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), and cervical cancer (CC). This method allowed for a detailed investigation of the underlying mechanistic interactions within the gut-cervix axis.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common joint degenerative diseases without effective treatment, whose pathology is related to the local accumulation of senescent cells (SnCs). However, existing SnCs-scavenging drugs "senolytics" may lead to the exhaustion of stem and progenitor cells, impairing chondrocyte proliferation and cartilage regeneration. Here, ADAM19, a kind of endopeptidases from the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase) family, is identified as a novel target for senescent chondrocyte rejuvenation.
