Methicillin-resistant (MRSA)-induced pneumonia has become a major global public health challenge due to its high mortality and drug resistance. Essential oils, derived from plants, offer a promising solution to combat resistance owing to their low cytotoxicity and multitarget antimicrobial properties. This study designed a phenylboronic acid (PBA)-functionalized liposomal codelivery system (P-Lip@CE) to reverse MRSA resistance by synergistically delivering cefazolin sodium (Cefas) and essential oil (EOFAZ).

While transposable elements (TE) are critical drivers of genomic diversity, their influence on phenotypic traits in geese remain largely unexplored, primarily because most research has focused on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP). In this study, we identified 157,044 TE absence polymorphisms (TAP) in the genome of 566 Sichuan White geese through whole-genome resequencing (with an average coverage depth of 12.44 ×) to evaluate their influence across different populations, and we extended our investigation to include a TE genome-wide association study (TE-GWAS) encompassing 48 traits, with a particular focus on abdominal fat weight.

Osimertinib, a third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI), has significantly advanced the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), particularly in patients who develop resistance to first- and second-generation EGFR-TKIs. However, most patients inevitably develop resistance to the treatment, which presents a major challenge for long-term disease control. The molecular mechanisms underlying osimertinib resistance are complex and are generally categorised into EGFR-dependent and EGFR-independent pathways.

Research on urban soils has traditionally neglected two significant dimensions: the spatial heterogeneity emerging within megacity resulting from varying urbanization rates, and the dynamic responses of soil microbial communities to ongoing urban expansion processes. To address these research gaps, we propose a new approach to study soil bacterial communities based on urbanization gradients. Beijing is divided into three regions according to urbanization gradient by machine learning method.

To address the limitation of generalization of federated learning under non-independent and identically distributed (Non-IID) data, we propose FedDFPA, a personalized federated learning framework that integrates dynamic parameter fusion and prototype alignment. We design a class-wise dynamic parameter fusion mechanism that adaptively fuses global and local classifier parameters at the class level. It enables each client to preserve its reliable local knowledge while selectively incorporating beneficial global information for personalized classification.

Spider silk is highly attractive material because of its superior mechanical properties and excellent biocompatibility, enabling it to self-assemble into a wide range of morphological structures for drug delivery system. However, most spider silk particles developed as drug carriers are based on complex repetitive domains of spider silk proteins and exhibit relatively large particle sizes (> 300 nm), which limits their biomedical applications. In this study, we engineered a novel recombinant spider silk protein (NC-iRGD) by integrating terminal domains derived from major ampullate silk and the tumor-penetrating peptide iRGD.

To develop a method for determining the antibody-dependent cell-mediated phagocytosis (ADCP) activity of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-targeted antibody drug conjugate (ADC) based on the reporter gene assay, we established an ADCP activity assay with Jurkat/NFAT/FcγRIIa cells as the effector cells and BT474 as the target cells. Then, the target cell density, the ratio of effector to target cells, the target cell adhesion time, the incubation time for drug administration, and the induction time after adding effector cells were optimized by the method of design of experiment (DOE). The method showed a significant dose-response relationship, which was complied with the four-parameter equation: =(A-D)/[1+(/C)]+D.
