Lead halide hybrid perovskite ferroelectric semiconductor materials with out-of-plane polarization show great advantages in ultrathin photoelectric devices, especially vertical sandwich-type ferroelectric devices. However, out-of-plane polarization in lead halide hybrid perovskite ferroelectrics is extremely rare, even for the Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) type. Here, we report an RP lead-based hybrid perovskite ferroelectric semiconductor [3,3-difluoropyrrolidium]PbBr (DPB) with = 1.

Rationale: Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3), also known as Machado-Joseph disease, a rare autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder caused by cytosine-adenine-guanine repeat expansions in ATXN3, lacks effective therapies. This case report highlights the clinical and genetic features of a family with 5 affected members to emphasize the challenges in diagnosis, management, and the need for targeted therapies.
Patient Concerns: A 33-year-old male proband presented with progressive gait instability, limb incoordination, and dysarthria for more than 2 years.
Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is one of the most prevalent and deadliest cancers worldwide, accounting for a significant global health burden. Targeted therapies such as osimertinib, a third-generation EGFR inhibitor, have transformed the treatment landscape for EGFR-mutant NSCLC by offering improved progression-free survival. However, the inevitable development of resistance remains a formidable challenge, necessitating deeper insights into its molecular underpinnings.

Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a major cause of community-acquired pneumonia, yet its diagnosis remains challenging due to overlapping symptoms with other respiratory pathogens. In this study, an integrated microfluidic cartridge platform has been developed that combines three synergistic advancements: a chemical lysis reagent (GuHCl/EDTA) enabling direct genomic DNA release from M. pneumoniae collected by nasal swabs within 2 min without extraction steps, a novel dual-dye system (hydroxy naphthol blue/SYBR Green I) that leverages complementary fluorescence transitions from red to green for enhanced visual discrimination of loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) results, and a smartphone-based RGB quantification algorithm to standardize interpretation by analyzing colorimetric changes.

Background: Cognitive impairment is a common complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM); however, its underlying mechanisms are unclear. This study investigated the association between serum moesin levels, cognitive impairment, and glucose fluctuations in T2DM patients.
Methods: A total of 229 T2DM patients and 150 healthy controls were enrolled, and patients with T2DM were further categorized into those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI, n = 71) and without MCI (non-MCI, n = 158).
Background And Purpose: Large tumor suppressor kinases (LATS1 and 2) are core kinases of the Hippo signalling pathway, directly phosphorylate and inactivate the transcriptional coactivator Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP), playing a pivotal role in cell self-renewal and tissue regeneration. Hippo signalling inhibitors are urgently needed, both as tools for pharmacological studies of the Hippo pathway and as leads for developing novel, molecularly targeted drugs for the treatment of tissue injury and regeneration.
Experimental Approach: An enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)-based in vitro high-throughput biochemical assay was used to the identification of a potent and reversible LATS1/2 inhibitor, N-(2-chloro-6-fluorobenzyl)-5-(1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b] pyridin-3-yl) furan-3-carboxamide (named as LPi-1).
Background: Gas exchange measurements, such as oxygen uptake ( ) and carbon dioxide output ( ), of cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), are the key and gold standard for human cardiopulmonary functional evaluation. However, in terms of quality control, they are unstable and inaccurate. We used a metabolic simulator (MS) to detect measurement errors and enhance quality control.

Within this theory, we recognize that left heart failure (LHF) and right heart failure (RHF) present distinct pathophysiological profiles, especially when assessed through cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET). We seek to elucidate the similarities and differences in CPET responses between LHF and RHF, thereby enhancing our understanding of their unique exercise pathophysiology.

Personalized accurate intensity exercise based on an overall functional evaluation is a useful supplement to medication therapy. The aim of this study is to provide a simple method for detecting human function and evaluating the role of individualized exercise.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTriple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a specific subtype of breast cancer that poses a serious threat to women's health. The aldo-keto reductase type 1 C (AKR1C) family serves as a crucial ferroptosis defense system, catalyzing the conversion of aldehydes and ketones into their corresponding alcohols. SRY-Box4 (SOX4), a transcription factor of the SOX (sry-related HMG-box) family, is important in regulating tumor progression.

This study aims to explore the role of PD-L1 within breast cancer cells and identify key targets for future immunotherapy.
Methods: RNA-seq was performed on breast cancer cells with silenced PD-L1 to screen for differentially expressed genes, followed by bioinformatics analysis.

Respiratory viral infections continue to pose a significant challenge to global public health. Electrochemical nucleic acid sensors, with their high sensitivity and ease of miniaturization, demonstrate great diagnostic potential. However, the development of high-performance sensors requires comprehensive consideration of factors such as capture probe density, steric hindrance effects, and electrostatic repulsion, which pose significant challenges for the direct detection of long-sequence nucleic acids and limit the application of electrochemical sensors in pathogen diagnosis.

Respiratory infections are a leading cause of death and disability globally and have become an important issue of public concern. Nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) has been recognized as the gold standard for respiratory infection diagnosis, and played a critical role in epidemic control during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the laborious nucleic acid extraction limits the application of NAAT in the on-site respiratory infection diagnosis, an effective approach for disease control and prevention.

The human hand achieves both power grasp and precision grasp by leveraging different joint structures, particularly in the thumb, which plays a key role in balancing dexterity and stability. Inspired by the three distinct joints of the human thumb, we designed three types continuum manipulators featuring uniaxial, ball-and-socket, and saddle joints (SJ).
