Introduction: The prevalence and costs of dementias are rising due to demographic changes. Dementia care depends largely on informal caregivers and fragmented healthcare systems that often fail to meet the needs of people with dementia.

Objectives: This systematic review aims to identify unmet needs and barriers in European dementia care, providing a framework to improve health strategies.

Background: Subtalar joint (SJ) fusion may be required to treat subtalar osteoarthritis in progressive collapsing foot deformity (PCFD). Our goal was to understand how anterolateral arthroscopic subtalar arthrodesis (ALAPSTA) may alter joint congruency at the tibiotalar level.

Methods: We retrospectively assessed pre- and postoperative weightbearing computed tomography images of patients diagnosed with PCFD 2A (arthritic SJ) and/or 2D (peritalar subluxation) which underwent isolated ALAPSTA.

: The aim of our study was to evaluate clinical outcomes in patients with small pleomorphic adenoma (PA) after extracapsular dissection (ED) versus superficial parotidectomy (SP). : Following the PRISMA guidelines, a systematic review covering the years from 1950 to 2025 was conducted using the Pubmed/MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, Scopus, Ovid MEDLINE and Embase databases. A single-arm meta-analysis was performed to evaluate intraoperative capsular rupture, recurrence, transient and permanent facial nerve palsy, Frey's syndrome, salivary fistula, seroma and hematoma of patients who underwent ED vs.

Introduction: In the era of precision medicine, molecular biomarker testing is increasingly becoming the standard of care for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) patients. Tissue and liquid biopsy-based Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) is now highly recommended.

Areas Covered: Different NGS platforms emerged as a cost-effective strategy to perform a massive and parallel sequencing performing higher technical sensitivity than old generation technologies in detecting low abundant alterations in challenging diagnostic samples.

Introduction: Postmenopausal hyperandrogenism (PH) is a rare clinical condition caused by relative or absolute androgen excess after menopause. Tumorous or non-tumorous ovarian diseases can cause PH.

Methods: In this two-section hybrid study, the first section describes the case of a patient with PH caused by an ovarian disease and surgically treated.

Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare vascular anomalies associated with a risk of devastating intracerebral hemorrhage. They are often diagnosed following the appearance of seizures, focal neurological signs, or bleeding. In such cases endovascular embolization, which aims to occlude the AVM nidus and reduce risk of hemorrhage, has become a crucial therapeutic approach.

Background: Graphene oxide (GO) is widely explored as a functional additive in polymer composites; however, its simple physical dispersion in dental resins often leads to poor interfacial stability and limited long-term performance. Covalent functionalization may overcome these limitations by enabling chemical integration into the polymer matrix. This study presents the synthesis and FT-IR/Raman characterization of GRAPHYMERE, a novel graphene oxide-based monomer obtained through exfoliation, amine functionalization with 1,6-hexanediamine, and transamidation with methyl methacrylate.

The carrier prodrug approach is a well-established medicinal chemistry strategy adopted to refine the physicochemical and biopharmaceutical properties of parent drugs. In the present work, this strategy was applied to improve the transdermal delivery of butyric acid (BA) by employing D-glucosamine (N-Glc), a natural and non-toxic molecule, as a carrier. Accordingly, the design and synthesis of a new carrier prodrug, N-glucosamine tetrabutyrate (3-amino-6-((butyryloxy)methyl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2,4,5-triyl tributyrate, N-Glc-BE) is reported.

The current consensus guideline offers a comprehensive and practical guidance on the diagnostic and monitoring of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It provides recommendations on requirements for initial diagnosis, detection of complications, the use of monitoring tools in patients with IBD and diagnostics in specific situations, such as pregnancy, postoperatively and for cancer surveillance. The guideline is a joint project of the European Crohn's and Colitis Organization (ECCO), the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology, the European Society of Pathology, and the International Bowel Ultrasonography Group under the leadership of ECCO.

The formation of the Tissue Factor(TF):Factor VII(FVII) complex is a pivotal event that initiates coagulation; targeting this early step allows for the prevention of the subsequent cascade amplification driven by positive feedback loops. For this reason, the TF:FVII complex is attracting increasing interest as a potential therapeutic target for regulating the coagulation cascade in a specific and timely manner. In order to generate TF-mimics capable of inhibiting this protein-protein interaction, we have designed four small cyclic peptides that simulate a TF region containing the two antiparallel β-strands: 106-110 (RVFSY) and 123-128 (EPLYEN).

: In the context of preclinical studies, we have hitherto showcased that a low-molecular-weight ruthenium(III) complex we named AziRu holds significant potential for further developments as an anticancer candidate drug. When appropriately converted into stable nanomaterials and delivered into tumor cells, AziRu exhibits superior antiproliferative activity, benefiting from a multimodal mechanism of action. The activation of regulated cell death (RCD) pathways (i.

: Physician-modified endografts (PMEGs) have emerged as a treatment option for complex aortic pathologies. Uncertainty remains regarding the modification techniques and the most suitable materials for customization of fenestrated endografts. The aim of this study was to evaluate CE-marked endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) devices and suitable materials for device modification in PMEGs for juxtarenal and pararenal aortic pathologies.

Objectives: This study aimed to create a Blueprint Persona for Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS) patients, focusing on Unmet needs that digital solutions can address.

Methods: An interdisciplinary focus group formulated the BMS Blueprint Persona by discussing clinical data and survey results regarding education, informatics skills, and perceived unmet needs, collected from 500 BMS patients between 2022 and 2023.

Results: The BMS Blueprint Persona, named Anna, represents a typical BMS patient profile: a young-old woman with limited computer skills who experiences anxiety, depression, and insomnia, has memory issues leading to medication adherence challenges, is obese due to overeating, and spends much time watching TV at home.

Molecular diversity is one of the most pursued objectives in drug discovery, and diversity-oriented synthesis (DOS) perfectly responds to the achievement of this goal. In this paper, we describe a DOS approach applied to the antitumor field with the aim of identifying new anticancer structures and their associated targets. To accomplish this ambitious project, after an initial stage of phenotypic evaluation, we set up an integrated platform of inverse virtual screening (IVS), bioinformatics, and omics to predict the biological targets of the most promising compounds and .

In this 5th version of the European LeukemiaNet guidance for adult patients, there are important changes in several areas of management based on evidence available since 2020, including the World Health Organisation's reclassification of CML as a biphasic disease. Previous advice to switch the tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) on failure of molecular milestones, is modified to better account for individual patient circumstances. Our recommendations are summarized in tables designed to be read in conjunction with the text which offers justification and additional advice.
