The chemical ecology and host plant preferences of the different Conistra species (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae, Xylenini) are mostly unknown, even though they are essential components of the herbivorous assemblages of temperate zone forests. During field studies, (Z)-7-tetradecenyl acetate (Z7-14Ac) was identified as a sex attractant of . Phenylacetaldehyde-based synthetic and iso-amyl alcohol-based semi-synthetic lures also attracted , , and , and in the case of , they performed better than the newly identified sex attractant.

The first occurrence of an invasive pest species, the fall armyworm ( Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), in Bulgaria is reported. Different trapping methods (black light trap, traps baited with semiochemical lures, and food attractants) were used to study Noctuidae assemblages in Bulgaria in 2023. Two males of were caught with sex pheromone traps in maize fields in Knezha, northern Bulgaria, in early November 2023.

Carbohydrate-binding malectin/malectin-like domain-containing proteins (CBMs) represent a newly discovered subclass of lectins that participate in various biological processes across the bacterial, animal, and plant kingdoms. The gene in rice enhances reactive oxygen species (ROS) burst, contributing to drought-stress tolerance. Nonetheless, the functions of in response to biotic stress remain poorly understood.

Multi-objective optimization of starch for higher solubility and lower glycemic index is a challenge. In this study, we investigated the molecular structure evolution of cold water-soluble starch (CWS) and its correlation mechanism with solubility and digestibility by alkali-alcohol treatment of cassava starch. As NaOH concentration increased, the average molecular size of CWS gradually decreased, and the medium-long amylose (AM) chains (X ~ 1000-10,000) decreased sharply.

Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) and Tomato chlorosis virus (ToCV) are plant-infecting viruses that are mainly transmitted by Bemisia tabaci Gennadius. In addition to their significant individual impacts on agricultural production, TYLCV and ToCV co-infections are increasingly common and can cause devastating losses in tomato and other crops. Cathepsins, the main proteases in lysosomes, affect both immune responses and the digestion of plant proteins and may help mediate Bemisia-virus-plant interactions.

Due to the widespread use of synthesized chemical fungicides and the frequent occurrence of fungicide resistance and environmental pollution as a result, it has become increasingly urgent to develop environmentally friendly biocontrol alternatives, including plant crude extracts.
Results: In this study, the crude extracts of the tropical plant Millettia pachyloba were screened out and exhibited excellent preventive effects against M.

Distribution data on the lacewing fauna of the data-deficient Transcarpathian Lowland (West Ukraine) were provided. The attractivity of phenylacetaldehyde-(FLO) and isoamyl alcohol-based (SBL) lures designed for trapping lepidopteran pests to lacewings was also studied and compared to the efficiency of light traps traditionally used in studies on neuropterans. In the three-year study, 374 individuals of 10 species were caught.

As urban areas continue to expand globally, a deeper understanding of the functioning of urban green spaces is crucial for maintaining habitats that effectively support wildlife within our cities. Cities typically harbor a wide variety of nonnative vegetation, providing limited support for insect populations. The resulting scarcity of arthropods has been increasingly linked to adverse effects at higher trophic levels, such as the reduced reproductive success of insectivorous birds in urban environments.

Background: (Fabricius) (Hemiptera: Alydidae) is a major soybean pest throughout East Asia that relies on its advanced olfactory system for the perception of plant-derived volatile compounds and aggregation pheromones for conspecific and host plant localization. Odorant binding proteins (OBPs) facilitate the transport of odorant compounds across the sensillum lymph within the insect olfactory system, enabling their interaction with odorant receptors (ORs).
Methods: Real-time quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) analyses, fluorescence-based competitive binding assays, and molecular docking analyses were applied to assess the expression and ligand-binding properties of OBP38 from .

In this paper, a series of oxadiazole/thidiazole containing coumarin derivative derivatives were designed, synthesized and characterized using NMR and HRMS. The evaluation of antiviral activity revealed that some of the synthesized compounds exhibited good in vivo antiviral efficacy against tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). Notably, compounds H6 and Y5 demonstrated exceptional therapeutic and protective effects against TMV, with EC values of 180.
