What Is Already Known About This Topic?: The burden of illness and economic losses due to upper-limb work-related musculoskeletal disorders (UL-WMSDs) is high; thus, they have become a major global public health problem. At present, the epidemiological characteristics of UL-WMSDs in China's occupational population are still unknown.
What Is Added By This Report?: The incidence of UL-WMSDs among key occupational groups in China is 22.

Background: Changes in modern industrial production practices can easily lead to shoulder work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD). The current reports on shoulder WMSD are limited to some industries are less well studied, and the sample size is usually small. This study aimed to describe the prevalence and severity of shoulder WMSD in a large sample of Chinese workers from 15 industries, analyze the possible correlations with sociodemographic and work-related variables, and compare the differences between industries.

A 2.5-year-old pediatric patient with acute flaccid paralysis was diagnosed with primary immunodeficiency (PID) in Ningxia Province, China, in 2011. Twelve consecutive stool specimens were collected from the patient over a period of 10 months (18 February 2011 to 20 November 2011), and 12 immunodeficiency vaccine-derived poliovirus (iVDPV) strains (CHN15017-1 to CHN15017-12) were subsequently isolated.

Pseudosperma species are widely distributed worldwide. Many of them cause poisoning incidents every year, and the toxin responsible for poisoning is muscarine, which could stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system. This study established a method using multiwalled carbon nanotube purification and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry for the targeted screening of mushroom toxins (muscarine, isoxazole derivatives, tryptamine alkaloids, three amatoxins and three phallotoxins) from Pseudosperma umbrinellum, a common poisonous mushroom distributed in north and northwestern China.

Background: With the acceleration of industrialization and population aging, low back pain (LBP) has become the leading cause of life loss years caused by disability. Thus, it places a huge economic burden on society and is a global public health problem that needs urgent solution. This study aimed to conduct an epidemiological investigation and research on a large sample of workers in key industries in different regions of China, determine the incidence and distribution characteristics of LBP, explore the epidemic law, and provide a reference basis for alleviating global public health problems caused by LBP.

Objective: To understand the monitoring status of veterinary drug residues in chickens and eggs sold in Ningxia from 2016 to 2020, and to evaluate the health risks of human intake.
Methods: A total of 303 chicken and 237 eggs were collected from 2016 to 2020, and the veterinary drug residues in chickens and eggs sold in Ningxia were detected and analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The food safety index method was used to assess the health risks in combination with the dietary intake of residents.
Mushroom poisoning is a deeply concerning food safety problem that affects the public in China every year. Although there are statistics on the number of poisonings and incidents, there is a lack of data on the types of toxic mushrooms, clinical manifestations and toxins. A case of wild mushroom poisoning occurred in Xiamen.

Background: Mosquitoes host and transmit numerous arthropod-borne viruses (arboviruses) that cause disease in both humans and animals. Effective surveillance of virome profiles in mosquitoes is vital to the prevention and control of mosquito-borne diseases in northwestern China, where epidemics occur frequently.
Methods: Mosquitoes were collected in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia region (Shaanxi Province, Gansu Province, and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region) of China from June to August 2019.

Background: Skeletal muscle mass (SMM), fat mass (FM) and fat-to-muscle ratio (FMR) are significant indicators in epidemiology studies and clinical settings. The aim of this study was to establish age-related and sex-specific reference values for skeletal muscle mass index (SMMI), fat mass index (FMI) and FMR by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) for healthy rural adults in western China.
Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study from Ningxia cohort study, included 13,790 individuals aged 35 to 74 years.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of the integrated echinococcosis control program in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region from 2011 to 2018.
Methods: A package of integrated interventions were employed for echinococcosis control in 22 counties (districts) of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region from 2011 to 2018, including screening of human echinococcosis, treatment of echinococcosis patients, deworming of domestic dogs and monitoring of infections, surveillance of echinococcosis in bovines and sheep, health education. The detection of human echinococcosis, seroprevalence of anti- antibody in children at ages of 6 to 12 years, the coproantigen-positive rate in domestic dogs, prevalence of echinococcosis in bovines and sheep, and the awareness of echinococcosis control knowledge were investigated and compared during the period between 2011 and 2018.

To analyze the spatial-temporal distribution characteristics of human brucellosis (HB) in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (Ningxia) from 2012 to 2018 and the correlation between HB and the number of livestock stocks, so as to provide reference for the development of preventive measures. Data on the incidence of HB was collected from the Infectious Disease Report Information Management System of Ningxia, 2012 to 2018. Data related to HB incidence in Ningxia from 2012 to 2018 was then analyzed by global spatial autocorrelation and local spatial autocorrelation analysis methods through the geographic information system (GIS).

Although Japanese encephalitis virus genotype Ib (JEV GIb) has replaced JEV GIII as the dominant genotype in endemic areas of Asia, no JEV GIb has been isolated from JE cases and natural mosquitoes at the same time in an outbreak of JE. In this study, we conducted virological and molecular biological laboratory tests on JE case samples (serum/cerebrospinal fluid) and locally collected mosquito samples from the 2018 JE outbreak in Ningxia, China. The result of JEV IgM antibody detection showed that 96% (67/70) of the suspected cases were laboratory-confirmed JE cases.

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) have a high prevalence and seriously harmful, which has attracted extensive attention in various countries in the world. Currently, the occurrence and rules of WMSDs in key industries are not known in China. The prevalence of WMSDs is relatively high among professional populations in key industries in China, with the most commonly affected body parts concentrated in neck, shoulders, and low back and increasing with age and working years.

Objective: To study the genetic characteristics of VP1 region of coxsackievirus A10 (Cox A10) strains isolated from hand foot and mouth disease (HFMD) cases in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (Ningxia) in 2013.
Methods: A total of 280 specimens, which were identified as non-enterovirus 71 and non-Cox A16 by real-time PCR, were collected and cultured by using RD cell, and the VP1 genes of isolated strains were amplified by using reverse transcriptase PCR (RT-PCR) with degenerated primers and sequenced. The sequencing results were aligned with the sequences in GenBank with BLAST algorithm to identify the virus genotypes.
