Introduction: Epidemiological evidence suggests cerebrovascular disease (CVD) incidence is correlated to meteorological conditions. However, research on the primary meteorological factors influencing the incidence of CVD and their influence thresholds in low-latitude mountainous regions remains insufficient. We aimed to investigate the association between meteorological conditions and CVD occurrence in Guizhou province.

Background: A long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) called antisense noncoding RNA in the INK4 locus (), has emerged as substantial regulators of cell survival in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). However, its speciffc and potential mechanism is uncertain in AML. In this research, we investigated the role of in cell proliferation, apoptosis, and the underlying mechanism in AML cells.

Background: Rifampicin-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis (RR-PTB) presents a significant threat to global public health security. China bears a substantial burden of RR-PTB cases globally, with Guizhou Province experiencing particularly alarming trends, marked by a continual increase in patient numbers. Understanding the population characteristics and treatment modalities for RR-PTB is crucial for mitigating morbidity and mortality associated with this disease.

Background: Body roundness index (BRI) is an anthropometric measure related to obesity, combining waist circumference (WC) and height to more accurately reflect body fat. This study aims to investigate the relationship between BRI and the risk of hypertension using data from a prospective cohort study in Southwest China.
Methods: Data for the study were derived from Guizhou Population Health Cohort Study (GPHCS), established in 2010.

To study the influence of the severity of diabetic retinopathy (DR) on the visual function of patients with type 2 diabetes, to provide scientific basis for the early prevention and control of DR. This study was designed as a cross-sectional study, recruiting already-diagnosed type 2 diabetes patients in four community health service centers in Guizhou Province between February and September 2022. Employing the Chinese version of the Visual Function Index-14 (VF-14), assess the participants' near vision, visual adaptation, subjective visual perception, and stereo vision, with higher scores indicating poorer visual function.

Objectives: This current study is based on a set of visual motion sensitivity tests, investigating the correlation between visual motion sensitivity and diabetic retinopathy (DR) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), thereby furnishing a scientific rationale for preventing and controlling DR.
Methods: This research was conducted by a combination of questionnaire collection and on-site investigation that involved 542 T2DM recruited from a community. The visual motion sensitivity determined the visual motion perception of the participants across three spatial frequencies (low, medium, and high) for both the first- and second-order contrast.

Available evidence suggests that air pollutants can cause stroke, but little research has investigated the confounding effects of urban-rural differences. Here, we investigated the urban-rural difference in the correlation between particulate matter (PM and PM) exposure and stroke. This cohort study was based on a prospective multi-city community-based cohort (Guizhou Population Health Cohort Study (GPHCS)) in Guizhou Province, China.

Diabetic skin wound is a disturbing and rapidly evolving clinical issue. Here, we investigated how salvianolic acid B (Sal B) affected the diabetic wound healing process. Following Sal B administration, histopathological damage was investigated by H&E and Masson staining, and CD34, apoptosis and mitophagy markers were measured by immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and western blotting.

Background: Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a major public health issue in China while temperature and humidity are well-documented predictors. However, evidence on the combined effect of temperature and humidity is still limited. It also remains unclear whether such an effect could be modified by the enterovirus 71 (EV71) vaccination.

What Is Already Known On This Topic?: In China, there is limited data available on the use and coverage of the non-program, combined diphtheria, tetanus toxoid, acellular pertussis adsorbed, inactivated poliovirus and haemophilus influenzae type b (DTaP-IPV/Hib) pentavalent vaccine, and its role as a substitute for the separately administered standalone program vaccines.
What Is Added By This Report?: We evaluated the use and coverage of the pentavalent vaccine in nine provincial-level administrative divisions (PLADs) spanning eastern, central, and western China from 2019 to 2021. Initial use and coverage were low, but demonstrated annual growth albeit with regional and urban-rural discrepancies.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection through transfusion has been an imperative challenge for blood safety. Despite the implementation of screening strategies, there was still the residual risk of transfusion-transmitted HIV. Considering that the prevalence of HIV infection in blood donors is significant for evaluating blood safety and potential risks to the population, meta-analysis was applied to investigate the HIV prevalence among voluntary blood donors during the past 27 years to characterize the epidemiology and related risk factors of HIV in blood donors.

Mosquito transmitted viruses are responsible for an increasing burden of human disease. Despite this, little is known about the diversity and ecology of viruses within individual mosquito hosts. Here, using a meta-transcriptomic approach, we determined the viromes of 2,438 individual mosquitoes (81 species), spanning ~4,000 km along latitudes and longitudes in China.
