The pulsatile pattern of the hypothalamic hormone gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) plays a critical role in reproductive function by regulating the biosynthesis and secretion of the pituitary gonadotropins. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing hormone (LH) are heterodimeric glycoproteins composed of a common peptide, the glycoprotein hormone subuint alpha, and either a specific FSHbeta or LHbeta polypeptide. GnRH regulates LHbeta gene expression through GnRH receptor activation of the protein kinase C (PKC) and calcium signaling cascades. Recently, many transcription factors, such as early growth response-1 (Egr-1), steroidogenic factor-1 (SF-1), Ptx1 and Sp1, have been recognized to be involved in expression of the LHbeta gene through binding to the promoter region of LHbeta gene.

Buffalo are shy breeders and poor fertility traits are a major hindrance in exploiting the production potential of the animal. This study hypothesizes that polymorphisms in the luteinizing hormone beta (LHβ) gene can affect oestrus behaviour in buffaloes. A total of 100 animals were screened by calculating the heat index (threshold-50) and animals were categorized into two groups (Group1 > 50, Group2 < 50).

Chorionic gonadotropin α (Cgα) functions as the shared subunit for thyroid-stimulating hormone subunit β (Tshβ), luteinizing hormone subunit β (Lhβ), and follicle-stimulating hormone subunit β (Fshβ). While these β-subunits have been extensively studied using effective gene knockout models in zebrafish, the biological role of Cgα remains elusive. In this study, -deficient zebrafish generated via transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALENs) exhibited viability but displayed pronounced developmental abnormalities, including growth retardation, hyperpigmentation, reduced thyroxine (T4) levels, and defective anterior swim bladder inflation during juvenile stages.

As a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family, Bmp4 plays a crucial role in bone formation, early developmental stage and the regulation of gonadal development. This study aims to investigate the expression patterns and potential functions of the Bmp4 in Pampus argenteus during its reproductive cycle. A systematic evolutionary analysis of the Bmp4 was performed, and its expression was quantified and localized using real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR), Western blotting and immunohistochemistry.

With the growing scale of largemouth bass breeding, the demand for seedlings is increasing. As global temperatures rise, it is crucial to study the effects of high temperature their regulatory mechanisms in largemouth bass. In this study, we simulated a high water temperature (28 °C) in the non-breeding season in aquaculture ponds for 28 days to examine the growth, reproduction, metabolism, apoptosis, and methylation markers in largemouth bass; transcriptome analysis was also performed.
