Fear memory is crucial for animals to effectively respond to dynamic environments and survive dangerous stimuli. However, aberrant fear memory contributes to various psychiatric disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Despite its importance, the precise molecular mechanisms underlying fear memory remain insufficiently understood.

Liver failure, marked by a rapid or progressive decline in liver function, leads to complications such as hyperbilirubinemia and infections, contributing to approximately 2 million global deaths each year. Current hemoperfusion methods for hyperbilirubinemia treatment are limited by their low adsorption selectivity and inadequate biosafety, necessitating better treatments. In this study, a chitosan-based HKUST-1 aerogel (HC) was developed as a highly selective, biosafe, and antibacterial adsorbent.

This study developed multifunctional sodium alginate (SA)-based films incorporating high internal phase Pickering emulsions (HIPPEs) stabilized by curcumin/β-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes (CUR/β-CD). The HIPPEs demonstrated excellent colloidal stability (>21 days) with a mean droplet diameter of 12.

This study investigates the association between EASIX and mortality risk in diabetes patients.
Methods: We included 3,252 diabetes patients from seven National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey cycles (2003-2016).
The global competition for human capital is fuelled by intricate brain circulation dynamics, where individuals with specialized skills traverse geographic, organizational, and national boundaries to address workforce demands. However, a comprehensive framework for integrating and interpreting heterogeneous data on global brain circulation remains elusive. Here we introduce the Global Brain Circulation Dynamics (GBCD) corpus, a longitudinally integrated repository of geo-information encompassing 223 countries/regions from 2000 to 2024.

Herein, we report the design and synthesis of bifunctional colorimetric and fluorescent nanohybrids (Au-AIENPs) through the co-assembly of oleylamine-modified gold nanoparticles (OA-AuNPs) and aggregation-induced emission luminogens (AIEgen). Due to the distinct compatibility of the components, the resulting Au-AIENPs form a core-shell nanostructure, with the AIEgen creating a fluorescent core and the OA-AuNPs uniformly dispersing on the shell. This spatial separation of AIEgen and OA-AuNPs optimizes the colorimetric signal while preserving a strong fluorescence output.

Recent studies have shown that elevating magnesium levels promotes neurogenesis by enhancing the neuronal differentiation of adult neural progenitor cells in vitro. Therefore, this in vivo study aims to determine if magnesium-L-threonate (MgT) can ameliorate cognitive deficit of AD mice by attenuating adult hippocampal neurogenesis impairment and to reveal the underlying mechanisms.

Introduction: Tumor tissues exhibit significantly lower oxygen partial pressure compared to normal tissues, leading to hypoxia in the tumor microenvironment and result in resistance to tumor treatments. Strategies to mitigate hypoxia include enhancing blood perfusion and oxygen supply, for example,by decomposing hydrogen peroxide within the tumor. Improving hypoxia in the tumor microenvironment could potentially improve the efficacy of cancer treatments.

With increasing global environmental awareness and concerns about food safety, biodegradable active packaging has garnered widespread attention. In this study, the stability and bioactivity of tea polyphenol (TP) were enhanced through the preparation of TP-ferric nanoparticles (TP-Fe NPs) using metal-polyphenol ion coordination. Moreover, the introduction of Fe ions can further enhance the antibacterial effects of TP-Fe NPs.

Unfortunately, most chemotherapeutic agents failed to dictate effective ICD responses due to their defects in inducing potent ICD signaling. Here, we report a dual-enzyme-instructed peptide self-assembly platform of (CPT-GFFpY-PLGVRK-Caps) that cooperatively utilizes camptothecin (CPT) and capsaicin (Caps) to promote ICD and engage systemic adaptive immunity for tumor rejection.

Electroencephalography (EEG) provides high temporal resolution neural data for brain-computer interfacing via noninvasive electrophysiological recording. Estimating the internal brain activity by means of source imaging techniques can further improve the spatial resolution of EEG and enhance the reliability of neural decoding and brain-computer interaction. In this work, we propose a novel EEG data-driven source imaging scheme for precise and efficient estimation of macroscale spatiotemporal brain dynamics across thalamus and cortical regions with deep learning methods.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have been proved to provide additional benefit in disease control. However, oncological outcome of iCCA remains poor and awaits further improvement with new treatment modalities.

While resistance training benefits the elderly, its impact on stroke patients is understudied. This study evaluates the potential of a 4-week unilateral resistance training (URT) program to prevent sarcopenia in stroke patients.

Methods: A total of 11,504 prediabetic patients from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2003-2016 were included in the present study. Mortality and the underlying cause of death were ascertained by linkage to National Death Index records through December 31, 2019.
Background: Tri-combination therapy based on hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) of infusion fluorouracil, leucovorin, and oxaliplatin (FOLFOX-HAIC) plus immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) for the locally advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients have been proven effective. However, whether it was best for these HCC patients to start with the most potent therapeutic pattern was still under debate. This retrospective study evaluated the efficacy and safety of FOLFOX-HAIC combined with systemic therapies in the patterns of sequential and concurrent schedules.

Beyond diverse cellular interactions from the microenvironment, physicochemical factors such as tumor acidosis also significantly affect cancer dynamics. Recent research has highlighted that tumor acidosis facilitates invasion, immune escape, metastasis, and resistance to therapies.

A novel construction strategy is introduced for an ultrasensitive dynamic light scattering (DLS) immunosensor targeting alpha fetoprotein (AFP). This approach relies on a self-assembled heptamer fusion protein (A1-C4bpα), incorporating the dual functions of multivalent recognition and crosslinking aggregation amplification due to the presence of seven AFP-specific A1 nanobodies on the A1-C4bpα heptamer. Leveraging antibody-functionalized magnetic nanoparticles for target AFP capture and DLS signal output, the proposed heptamer-assisted DLS immunosensor offers high sensitivity, strong specificity, and ease of operation.

The specific interaction between T-cell receptors and peptide-MHC-I complexes (pMHC-I) on cancer cell membranes critically determines their therapeutic outcomes. However, the lack of appropriate endogenous antigens for MHC-I presentation disables tumor recognition by CTLs.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive and ultimately fatal interstitial lung disease, with limited therapeutic options available. Impaired autophagy resulting from aberrant TRB3/p62 protein-protein interactions (PPIs) contributes to the progression of IPF. Restoration of autophagy by modulating the TRB3/p62 PPIs has rarely been reported for the treatment of IPF.
