Importance: Controlling modifiable cardiovascular risk factors is important but underused for patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Mobile message-based intervention strategies could address this gap but lack evidence of benefit on multiple risk factors.
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of a mobile message-based intervention in controlling cardiovascular risk factors in patients with T2D.
Background: Serum vitamins A and B12, as essential micronutrients, play pivotal roles in maintaining physiological homeostasis; however, the association between these vitamins and aging remains unclear. Therefore, this study aims to investigate potential threshold effects of these nutrients on accelerated biological aging using multidimensional DNA methylation biomarkers.
Methods: This study included 2,530 participants with DNA methylation data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999-2000 and 2001-2002.

Herein, we report precise excited-state engineering in benzimidazole (NBd) derivatives via a donor-acceptor (D-A) architecture for organic temperature-responsive phosphorescence (RTP). Four NBd derivatives (1-NBdCN, 1-NBdBrCN, 2-NBdCN, and 2-NBdBrCN) with an electron acceptor at position 1 and position 2 were designed and synthesized. The position of the electron acceptor enables 1-NBdCN and 1-NBdBrCN with temperature-responsive phosphorescence and endows 2-NBdCN and 2-NBdBrCN with red-shifted phosphorescence, showing a remarkable site effect.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the joint effect of central obesity (CO) and family history of hypertension (FHH) on hypertension in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods: A total of 1756 T2DM patients were enrolled from a cross-sectional study conducted in Zhejiang Province, China (March - November 2018). Multivariate logistic regression models were used to analyze factors associated with hypertension and to assess CO-FHH interactions on both additive and multiplicative scales.
: Although B vitamins are implicated in cardiovascular regulation, the associations between serum thiamine (vitamin B1) and blood pressure (BP) remain unclear, particularly among women who are at high risk for hypertension-related complications. This study aimed to investigate relationships between serum thiamine levels and BP outcomes among middle-aged and elderly women in eastern China. : A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 2015 women aged 45-69 years in Zhejiang Province, China.

Three dinaphthylamine-structured phosphorescence molecules (NQA-1, NQA-2, and NQA-3), modified with an (iso)quinoline ring, were synthesized, and the tiny structural change made a great difference to their UORTP properties by controlling T excited states and intersystem crossing (ISC) efficiency. We thoroughly studied the UORTP performance in toluene solution, in PMMA film, in non-cross-linked copolymerized films, and in cross-linked films with three different cross-linkers.

Methods: The investigation stems from a survey conducted in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang, spanning from March to November 2018. A multivariable logistic regression model was employed to assess the relationship between UHR and CKD, while restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis was used to evaluate the dose-response relationship.

We report a through-space electron effect (TSEE) between two phosphorescent units that significantly modulates the selective expression of ultralong organic room-temperature phosphorescence (UORTP) and photochromism. A series of phosphorescent molecules (DNapTr, DNapBNT, DNapFL, and DNapPy), featuring two phosphorescent units connected by a nonconjugated spacer, were synthesized. Our findings reveal that both TSEE and the energy gap Δ (defined as - ) between the lowest triplet energy levels (T) of the phosphorescent units play crucial roles in determining UORTP and the photochromic behavior in PMMA films.

While vegetation brings positive benefits for climate mitigation and adaptation, the impact of ongoing global greening remains controversial due to its uncertain effects on hydrological cycle. Here, we quantitatively assess the impact of vegetation dynamics on global water availability by proposing a comprehensive framework to quantify the terrestrial water sink and source scores associated with vegetation dynamics. These scores serve as indicators of whether large alterations in water resources have occurred in the lands due to either the greening or degradation of surface vegetation.

The results demonstrated that when heated at 100 °C and 130 °C, CBH-H exhibited the strongest inhibition on peak and setback viscosity, reducing them by 49.3 % and 44.

Methods And Findings: We constructed 80 PRSs for the 13 most common cancers using seven schemes and evaluated these PRSs in 100,219 participants from the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB). The optimal PRSs with the highest discriminatory ability were used to define genetic risk, and their site-specific and cross-cancer associations were assessed.

Objective: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are significant global health issues with a well-established association between the two. This study aims to assess the risk of developing CKD in patients with COPD through systematic review and meta-analysis, and to explore the impact of CKD on the prognosis of COPD patients.
Methods: A total of 23 studies were included in the analysis, comprising 11 studies on the risk of CKD in patients with COPD, 6 studies on the impact of CKD on the short-term all-cause mortality risk of patients with acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD), and 6 studies on the impact of CKD on the long-term all-cause mortality risk of COPD patients.

Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) is a redox-sensitive transcriptional factor that enables cells to resist oxidant responses, ferroptosis and inflammation. Here, we set out to probe the effects of NRF2 on cardiomyocyte injury under acute myocardial infarction (AMI) condition and its potential mechanism. Human cardiomyocytes were exposed to hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) to induce cell injury.

Herein, we successfully observe the site effect of electron acceptors on ultralong organic room-temperature phosphorescence (UORTP) in the case of 7-benzo[]carbazole (BCz) derivatives: cyanophenyl on the nitrogen site can promote intersystem crossing (ISC) efficiency and enhance phosphorescence intensity by facilitating -π* transitions but make a slight change to the phosphorescence wavelength; cyanophenyl on the naphthalene site can cause a remarkable red shift of phosphorescence wavelength by reducing the T energy level of BCz derivatives and also enhance phosphorescence intensity by promoting ISC but weaken phosphorescence intensity by lowering the molecular symmetry. Three BCz derivatives (1-BCzPhCN, 2-BCzPhCN, and 3-BCzPhCN) with the electron acceptor cyanophenyl at different sites (nitrogen site and naphthalene site) were synthesized through a combination of the nucleophilic substitution reaction and the Suzuki coupling reaction. The phosphorescence properties of 1-BCzPhCN, 2-BCzPhCN, and 3-BCzPhCN in toluene solution, in a copolymerized MMA film, and in a PVA film were measured and analyzed.

Objectives: We aimed to construct an artificial intelligence-enabled electrocardiogram (ECG) algorithm that can accurately predict the presence of left atrial low-voltage areas (LVAs) in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation.
Methods: The study included 587 patients with persistent atrial fibrillation who underwent catheter ablation procedures between March 2012 and December 2023 and 942 scanned images of 12-lead ECGs obtained before the ablation procedures were performed. Artificial intelligence-based algorithms were used to construct models for predicting the presence of LVAs.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is characterized by an abnormal immune response, and the pathogenesis lacks clear understanding. The cGAS-STING pathway is an innate immune signaling pathway that plays a significant role in various pathophysiological processes. However, the role of the cGAS-STING pathway in UC remains largely unclear.

For example, MYCN is amplified up to several hundredfold in high-risk neuroblastoma.
