Health care systems need better strategies to identify older adults at risk for costly care to select target populations for interventions to reduce health care burden. Cognitive impairment and frailty are among the two most common geriatric syndromes. We examined the association between cognitive frailty and health care utilization and costs.

Objective: The prevalence of peripheral artery disease (PAD) is on the rise due to an aging population. This study aimed to gain insight into the clinical role of infrared thermography (IRT) as a diagnostic method and prognostic tool for below-the-knee (BTK) PAD patients.

Materials And Methods: The study prospectively recruited 64 patients who received lower limb revascularization for symptomatic BTK PAD (ChiCTR2400083847).

Background: Hemophilic arthropathy, resulting from recurrent joint bleeding in patients with hemophilia, often necessitates total hip arthroplasty (THA) to alleviate pain and improve joint function. However, the unique challenges posed by hemophilia, including coagulopathy and compromised bone health, result in increased risks of complications such as bleeding, infection, and prosthesis loosening.

Methods: A systematic search of PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, and Web of Science was conducted up to September 2024.

Objectives: This study aimed to synthesize existing evidence to compare the immunogenicity and safety of domestic and imported live-attenuated varicella vaccine (VarV) in healthy Chinese populations.

Methods: We searched PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, China National Knowledge Internet (CNKI), Wan Fang Database, and Chinese Biomedical Literature Service System (SinoMed) using predefined search terms to identify relevant studies. Retrieve all language articles up to March 15, 2024.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a significant public health issue worldwide. Conventional chemotherapeutic agents do not adequately meet the treatment demands because of their low efficacy and adverse side effects. Toosendanin (TSN) is a natural extract with potential anticarcinogenic activity.

Symptom monitoring using electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs) has demonstrated benefits for patients with cancer, yet the systematic effects for lung cancer remains unknown. This study performed a literature search in Medline, Embase, Cochrane library, CINAHL and APA PsyInfo before April 23rd, 2025, and identified 5755 papers. 18 (0.

The "different treatments for same disease" is an important concept of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapy. In TCM, osteoporosis (OP) treatment is aimed at invigorating blood, strengthening spleen, and tonifying kidneys, and their typical herbs are Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels (Danggui, DG), Poria cocos (Schw.

Background: This study aimed to compare the efficacy of the Conformable TAG Thoracic Endoprosthesis (CTAG) and the Valiant Captivia System Stent Graft in thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) for type B aortic dissection (TBAD).

Methods: TBAD patients treated from 2016 to 2022 at a Chinese tertiary center with a CTAG or Captivia stent graft were eligible for inclusion, and their data were retrospectively collected and analyzed. Intraoperative characteristics, short-term outcomes during hospitalization, mid-term outcomes during follow-up, and aortic remodeling were analyzed and compared between 2 groups.

Although tumor biology and treatment of neuroblastoma (NB) have substantially advanced, the clinical outcomes of patients with high-risk NB (HR-NB) still remain unsatisfactory. Increasing evidence suggests that targeting the tumor microenvironment (TME) is an effective strategy for the treatment of patients with HR-NB, highlighting the necessity to deepen the understanding of the complex TME in HR-NB. We analyzed the single-cell RNA sequencing data of 16 NB samples from 11 patients with HR-NB and 5 patients with intermediate-/low-risk NB.

Tuberculosis (TB), caused by infectious agent Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) seriously poses a great threat to health. An array of metabolites generated by metabolic pathways are essential for Mtb pathophysiology. However, a specific causal relationship between TB and human metabolites remains indistinct.

Objectives: Hypertension is common in China, and its prevalence has been increasing. However, it remains inadequately controlled. This study examined patterns of patient attrition across the stages of hypertension management in the general population and their variations across subpopulations, and assessed the role of individual-level determinants of hypertension management.

Analyzing the sources of nitrogen and phosphorus pollution in atmospheric deposition is crucial for protecting the surface water environment in vulnerable areas. This study focused on the Dahekou Reservoir, Shayuan District, Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia, China. It established 12 monitoring sites, conducted one-year monitoring, and collected 144 samples.

Background: Colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) is increasingly prevalent among patients under 50 years old, and the 5-year survival rate for patients with metastasis is less than 20%. Identifying significant biomarkers and therapeutic targets is crucial. We investigated the expression of LRP2 in COAD and its prognostic value utilizing single-cell sequencing and transcriptomics datasets, which was conducted preliminary validation at the patient samples and cellular levels as well.

ObjectivesThe aim of this study was to evaluate the one-year results of the Eluvia drug-eluting vascular stent (Boston Scientific, Marlborough, MA, USA) for the treatment of femoropopliteal occlusive disease (FPOD).MethodsFrom January 2021 to November 2023, this multicenter study prospectively enrolled patients with peripheral artery disease involving the femoropopliteal artery. The primary outcome measures were the rate of freedom from clinically driven target limb revascularization (f-CD-TLR), rate of freedom from major adverse events (f-MAE), rate of freedom from symptom recurrence (f-SR) and rate of freedom from all-cause death (f-ACD).

An asymmetric catalytic nucleophilic vinylic substitution (SV) reaction of 5-thiazol-4-ones and nitroolefins has been developed for the synthesis of 3-alkenyl oxindoles. The enantioselective SV reaction with a nitro group as the leaving group proceeded smoothly to afford 3-alkenyl oxindoles in good yields with high regio- and enantioselectivity. The reaction showed broad substrate applicability.

This study presents a novel dual phase-locked loop two-dimensional synchronized motion modulation (TDSMM-DPLL) system designed to enhance the low-frequency detection capability of magnetoresistive (MR) sensors by effectively mitigating 1/f noise. The TDSMM-DPLL system integrates a comb-driven resonator and a piezoelectric cantilever beam resonator, achieving synchronized magnetic field modulation through a DPLL circuit that adjusts the resonant frequency of the comb-driven resonator to twice that of the cantilever beam resonator. Theoretical analysis and finite element simulations demonstrate a modulation efficiency of 38.

Objectives: Herpes zoster (HZ) is a significant public health issue in China, especially with an aging population and rising incidence. While vaccination effectively prevents HZ and its complications, national data on HZ vaccine (HZV) coverage and associated factors in China are limited.

Methods: We conducted a nationwide survey across 25 provinces in mainland China, including 14,315 participants aged over 40 years, to estimate HZV uptake and associated factors among adults aged 40 years and older.

Natural water bodies often contain a significant amount of suspended colloidal particles, which not only reduce water transparency but also have a high adsorption capacity for soluble pollutants. These composite pollutants can migrate rapidly with water flow, which are usually difficult to degrade and remove by traditional methods. Aiming at suspended contaminated waterbodies, this study introduced a multilevel loading method to prepare carbon nanotube/sulfur doped carbon nitride (CNT/SCN) composite photocatalytic purification beads.
