Background: Daratumumab is a human IgGκ monoclonal antibody targeting CD38 with direct on-tumor and immunomodulatory mechanisms of action. Daratumumab-based treatment is a standard of care for multiple myeloma (MM) based on data from randomized controlled trials. Real-world studies, such as that presented here from China, provide important data to complement randomized trials.

Methods: A total of 112 high-risk MM patients were included (single ASCT, (n = 57) or tandem ASCT(n = 55) in this retrospective multicenter study. Responses and outcomes were evaluated.
Objectives: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is an aggressive malignancy with high rates of morbidity and mortality, largely because of its late diagnosis and metastatic potential. Lactate metabolism and protein lactylation are thought to play roles in NPC pathogenesis by modulating the tumor microenvironment and immune evasion. However, research specifically linking lactate-related mechanisms to NPC remains limited.

Methods: This is a single-arm, open, observational clinical study. For induction/consolidation(21-day cycles), patients received 8 cycles of XVRd protocol.
Introduction: Rice kernel smut, caused by Tilletia horrida, is becoming an increasingly serious disease in hybrid rice planting, leading to production losses and quality decline of male-sterile rice varieties. Successful infection requires an efficient energy source that the pathogen obtains from rice plants, such as carbohydrates. Glycoside hydrolases (GHs), one of the largest sub-families in the cell wall-degrading enzyme family, play a key role in the infection progress of pathogens.

Systemic amyloidosis is a rare protein misfolding and deposition disorder leading to progressive organ failure. Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM) with systemic amyloidosis as the main manifestation is even rarer. The patient in this study presented with recurrent diarrhea and had not been diagnosed in other hospitals on multiple occasions.

Population aging and global warming have become everyday concerns of all countries. Based on the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2003 to 2019, this paper uses the panel fixed effect model and two-stage least square method to analyze the effect of population aging on domestic energy carbon emissions of urban and rural residents. On this basis, the threshold regression model is introduced to explore the heterogeneity of the effect under different aging levels.

Here, we report that PSMD14 interacts with NSD2 on chromatin, independent of 19S RP. Functionally, PSMD14 acts as a histone H2AK119 deubiquitinase, facilitating NSD2-directed H3K36 dimethylation.

Delayed diagnoses are common due to the heterogeneity of the symptoms. However, real-world insights from Chinese patients with AL amyloidosis have not been investigated.

Understanding their combined impact on plant community regeneration is vital for predicting future forest structure and conserving biodiversity. This study monitored the seed production, seedling recruitment and mortality of woody plants in the Thousand Island Lake, a highly fragmented anthropogenic archipelago, for 5 years.

Although previous works revealed the roles of N-methyladenosine (m6A) reader hnRNPA2B1 in the development of tumors, whether hnRNPA2B1 regulates bone destruction in MM is still unknown. Alizarin red S staining, TRAP staining, ELISA and quantitative real-time PCR assays were used to evaluate osteogenesis and osteoclastogenesis .

Black phosphorus (BP) nanosheets with excellent features have been broadly employed for cancer therapy. BPs in blood were known to form BP nanomaterial-corona complexes, yet not explored their biological effects. In this study, BPs as delivery vehicles loaded with doxorubicin (DOX) (BP-DOX) by electrostatic interaction had been successfully prepared for photo-thermal/chemotherapy with a tumor inhibition rate of 81.

An important feature of myeloma is a failure of bone healing after successful treatment. In this work, clinical studies indicated a highly positive correlation between bone marrow bacteria abundance and bone lesion numbers of myeloma patients in complete remission.

An efficacious, tolerable, and convenient PI option is needed.
Methods: In this single-center, real-world study, we retrospectively analyzed the outcome and safety profile of ixazomib-based maintenance therapy in patients who plateaued with the responses of steady disease or better after bortezomib-based induction therapy in MM patients not undergoing transplantation.

Proteasome inhibitors, such as bortezomib (BTZ), represent the key elements in chemotherapy regimens for multiple myeloma (MM), whereas acquired chemoresistance and ultimately relapse remain a major obstacle. In the current study, we screened differently expressed cytokines in bortezomib-resistant MM cells and found that Dickkopf-1 (DKK1) level was remarkably augmented, whereas CD138 level was significantly suppressed. DKK1 in vitro specifically enhanced the resistance of myeloma cells to bortezomib treatment, and excessive DKK1 drove CD138 downregulation via inhibition of canonical Wnt signaling.

We aimed to compare the outcomes of different treatment patterns in elderly AML patients and to propose a prognostic scoring system that could predict survival and aid therapeutic decisions.
Methods: Patients aged ≥ 60 years who had been diagnosed with AML at 7 hospitals in China were enrolled ( = 228).
Development of chemoresistance is the main reason for failure of clinical management of multiple myeloma (MM), but the genetic and epigenetic aberrations that interact to confer such chemoresistance remains unknown. In the present study, we find that high steroid receptor coactivator-3 (SRC-3) expression is correlated with relapse/refractory and poor outcomes in MM patients treated with bortezomib (BTZ)-based regimens. Furthermore, in immortalized cell lines, high SRC-3 enhances resistance to proteasome inhibitor (PI)-induced apoptosis.

Nevertheless, the precise mechanisms underlying DKK1 overexpression in myeloma remain incompletely understood. Herein, we provide evidence that hypoxia promotes DKK1 expression in myeloma cells.

Although the emerging technology of drug delivery systems (DDSs) can deliver the required cargo to tumor sites, DDSs are limited due to insufficient targeting ability or deficient pharmacokinetics.
