Understanding the electrical double layer (EDL) is fundamental for enhancing the efficiency, capacity, and stability of electrochemical systems. The EDL at the electrode/polyelectrolyte interface exhibits significantly different properties with a more complex structure compared to liquid electrolyte systems. Characterizing this intricate interface experimentally remains a major challenge.

This study focuses on performing selection signal analysis of CNVs to identify candidate loci and genes associated with litter size in Guizhou Black goat.
Methods: Sample selection: 30 Guizhou Black goats were divided into high-lambing and low-lambing groups based on their continuous lambing records.
Objective: Currently, there is limited research on the relationship between the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) and the risk of prediabetes (pre-DM). This study aims to explore the potential link between AIP and the risk of progression from normoglycemia to pre-DM.
Methods: In this retrospective cohort analysis, a total of 8,295 individuals receiving routine medical examinations at Kuichong People's Hospital in Shenzhen between January 2018 and December 2023 were enrolled.
Objective: The atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) has emerged as a promising predictor for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), but population-specific patterns and underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study investigated the association between AIP and T2DM risk in Chinese and Japanese populations, focusing on non-linear relationships, population-specific thresholds, and the mediating role of body mass index (BMI).
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study using data from the China Rich Healthcare Group (n = 112,483) and the Japanese NAGALA database (n = 15,453).

Traditional cotton gauze remains a primary wound dressing for initial wound protection and exudate control. However, it lacks antibacterial property and fails to support angiogenesis and epithelial regeneration. To address these limitations, a one-step solvent-based strategy was developed to uniformly integrate ZIF-8 nanoparticles onto gauze with good interfacial stability.

Stacking and twisting 2D van der Waals (vdW) layers have become versatile platforms to tune the electron correlation. These platforms rely on exfoliating vdW materials down to a single vdW layer and a few vdW layers. We calculate the intrinsic layer-dependent surface and exfoliation energies of typical vdW materials such as graphite, h-BN, black P, MX (M = Mo or W; X = S, Se, or Te), MX (M = Ga or In; X = S, Se, or Te), BiTe, and MnBiTe using density functional theory.

The emergence of lineage reprogramming technology has enabled us to reprogram terminally differentiated somatic cells into other lineages. Tumor cells can reduce malignancy and even restore the function of benign cells through reprogramming technology. Establishing a tumor reprogramming system to induce tumor cell fate transformation and reduce malignancy provides a new strategy for tumor treatment.

To address this issue, a core-shell structured nanorod array with ZnO as the core and VEGF-loaded mesoporous SiO as the shell was constructed on a Zn-1Ca substrate using a hybrid process comprising hydrothermal treatment (HT), a sol-gel method and impregnation. ZnO formed HT could effectively protect the substrate from serious corrosion; mesoporous SiO further increased the anti-corrosion properties of the substrate and served as a carrier for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 8,168 individuals who voluntarily underwent health examinations at Shenzhen Dapeng New District Kuichong People's Hospital between January 2018 and December 2023.
Pathological microenvironment of diabetes predisposes to induce bacterial infection, sustained inflammatory response, and impaired neuroangiogenesis, impeding fracture repair. Zn-based implants have great potential to replace conventional Ti implants as temporary fixations, but their osseointegration ability needs improvement. In this work, "sandwich" structured nanorods were constructed on Zn substrate with ZnO nanorods as core, riboflavin-encapsulated ZIF-8 as intermediate layer and HA as outer shell.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFConventional titanium (Ti)-based implants often fail to achieve osseointegration in bone defects accompanied by rheumatoid arthritis (RA), primarily due to the RA pathological microenvironment, characterized by elevated reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and hypoxia. This microenvironment induces mitochondria dysfunction and intracellular Ca overload, facilitating macrophage polarization toward the M1 phenotype and thus impairing osteoimmunomodulatory osseointegration. To address this challenge, a nanozyme-inspired coating, featuring the deposition of MnFeO nanoparticles onto a polydopamine (PDA)-decorated surface of microporous TiO, is constructed on Ti (known as MFO coating).
