In Tribolium castaneum, juvenile hormone (JH) signal, through Methoprene-tolerant (Met)/Taiman (Tai) heterodimer, regulates vitellogenesis. Considering that Coleoptera is by far the largest animal taxon, whether JH pathway controls vitellogenesis remains to be clarified in other Coleopteran species. In the current paper, temporal expression determination revealed that JH signal is triggered in the young female adults in two Henosepilachna species, consistent with active oogenesis and vitellogenesis in these beetles.

Soil dissolved organic matter (DOM) is an important component of soil carbon pool, and its interaction with soil fungal communities is crucial for soil carbon cycle. We set up three nitrogen (N) addition levels, including control (0 kg N·hm·a), low N (40 kg N·hm·a), and high N (80 kg N·hm·a), in and forests to explore the effect of N addition on the DOM quantity and optical properties, as well as the relationship between soil fungal communities and DOM by using three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy coupled with parallel factor analysis and high-throughput sequencing. The results showed that N addition did not significantly change the quantity or optical properties of soil DOM and Chao1 index in forest.

The Terheyden 1/4 group received granular bone grafts alone, while the Terheyden 2/4 group received cortical bone blocks combined with granular bone grafts.
