Septic cardiomyopathy (SCM) represents one of the life-threatening manifestations of sepsis, for which specific therapies are currently lacking. The mechanism of action of urinary trypsin inhibitor (UTI), widely employed in treating acute inflammatory disorders, on SCM has remained elusive. Here, we observed that UTI alleviated cardiac function, reduced myocardial injury, and improved cardiac permeability in a cecum ligation and puncture (CLP)-induced sepsis mouse model.

As obligate parasites, viruses exploit host cell organelles and molecular components to complete their life cycle. Among which, viruses firstly hijack the cytoskeleton of host cells to ensure their efficiently cell entry and replication. Although formin family members play a key role in both microfilament and microtubule cytoskeletal remodeling, few studies addressed the detailed function and mechanism of formins in the process of viral infection.

Dietary components like blueberries have emerged as potential modulators of inflammation and tissue repair in gastrointestinal diseases. This study investigated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-mediated apoptosis mediated protective effects of blueberries in ameliorating dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced IBD.

Entanglement propagation provides a key routine to understand quantum many-body dynamics in and out of equilibrium. Entanglement entropy (EE) usually approaches to a subsaturation known as the Page value S[over ˜]_{P}=S[over ˜]-dS (with S[over ˜] the maximum of EE and dS the Page correction) in, e.g.

Photocatalytic hydrogen production is one of the most valuable technologies in the future energy system. Here, we designed a metal-covalent organic frameworks (MCOFs) with both small-sized metal clusters and nitrogen-rich ligands, named COF-CuTG. Based on our design, small-sized metal clusters were selected to increase the density of active sites and shorten the distance of electron transport to active sites.

By controlling the photoperiod, early-maturing rice can be cultivated to shorten the breeding cycle, thereby reducing the risk of yield losses due to unpredictable climate change. Furthermore, early-maturing and high-yielding rice needs to be developed to ensure food security for a rapidly growing population.

In recent years, several studies have explored the clinical efficacy and safety of the combination therapies of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs).
Aim: To conduct an updated meta-analysis verifying the clinical benefits and adverse effects of the triple combination therapy for unresectable HCC.
Purpose: The objective of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the efficacy of administering preoperative oral carbohydrates (CHO) compared to a control treatment in improving postoperative recovery outcomes for patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC).
Design: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Methods: Through systematic searches in PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library, randomized controlled trials focusing on preoperative oral carbohydrates for patients undergoing LC were collected.
Covalent-organic frameworks (COFs) with photoinduced donor-acceptor (D-A) radical pairs show enhanced photocatalytic activity in principle. However, achieving long-lived charge separation in COFs proves challenging due to the rapid charge recombination. Here, we develop a novel strategy by combining [6 + 4] nodes to construct -type 3D COFs, first reported in COF chemistry.

Liver dysfunction and abnormal level of liver metabolism indices were identified in UC patients, suggesting a close interaction between gut and liver disorders. Methionine-choline deficient diet (MCD) has been shown to induce persistent alterations of gut microbiota and metabolome during hepatitis.

The protection, development, and utilization of medicinal plant resources are important cornerstones of maintaining human health. However, due to factors such as the reduction of high-quality land resources, deterioration of ecological environments, and excessive and disorderly resource development, medicinal plant resources are becoming scarce, and some of them are insufficiently supplied. With the proposal of "the Belt and Road" Initiative, the cooperation between China and "the Belt and Road" partners(the countries and regions involved in "the Belt and Road" Initiative)is increasingly close, which provides a new opportunity for carrying out trade of medicinal plant resources and alleviating the problem of imbalance and relative inadequacy of medicinal plant resources in countries.

The pathophysiology of ALI is characterized by the disruption of the alveolar-capillary barrier and activation of neutrophils, leading to lung tissue damage. The receptor-interacting protein kinase 1 (RIPK1) has emerged as a promising target for the treatment of multiple inflammatory diseases, but the role of RIPK1 in the ALI remains poorly understood.

Its infection is associated with neurological complications such as neonatal microcephaly and adult Guillain-Barré syndrome, posing a serious threat to the health of people worldwide. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop effective anti-ZIKV drugs.

Supramolecular metal-organic cages (MOCs), assembled by the coordination of metal ions with organic linkers into discrete molecules, have performed solvent processability due to their tunable packing modes, endowing them with the potential to act as homogeneous or heterogeneous catalysts in different solvent systems. Here, the design and synthesis of a series of stable {Cu} cluster-based tetrahedral MOCs with varied packing structures are reported.
