This study systematically documented macrofungal diversity in Beijing, China (field surveys conducted from 2020 to 2024) using line-transect and random sampling. A total of 1056 species were identified, spanning 2 phyla, 7 classes, 25 orders, 109 families, and 286 genera. The inventory includes 12 new species, 456 new records for Beijing, 79 new records for China, and comprises 116 edible, 56 edible-medicinal, 123 medicinal, and 58 poisonous species.

Muscle-type nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (AChR) is the key signaling molecule in neuromuscular junctions. Here, we present the structures of full-length human adult receptors in complex with Fab35 in α-bungarotoxin (αBuTx)-bound resting states and ACh-bound desensitized states. In addition to identifying the conformational changes during recovery from desensitization, we also used electrophysiology to probe the effects of eight previously unstudied AChR genetic variants found in patients with congenital myasthenic syndrome (CMS), revealing they cause either slow- or fast-channel CMS characterized by prolonged or abbreviated ion channel bursts.

Using indole-2-carboxylic acid and vanillic acid as raw materials, a series of 11 novel compounds (7a-7k) were synthesized by chemically linking indole-2-carboxylic acid and vanillic acid through an aminothioureido group. The antibacterial activity of these compounds against Vibrio harveyi and Vibrio parahaemolyticus was evaluated using the agar perforating method.  The results indicated that compounds 7g-7j exhibited superior antibacterial activity against both strains compared to the positive control, with 7g showing the best performance.

This article systematically reviews the characteristics and trends of the writing, editing, publication and promotion of physiology textbooks in China from the late 19th century to the present, focusing on the introduction, development and innovation of Chinese physiology textbooks. The development of physiology textbooks in China is divided into four main stages: the introduction and initial development of physiology textbooks from the late 19th century to 1925; the localization and diversification of textbooks from 1926 to 1949, after the establishment of the Chinese Physiological Society; the exploratory phase of textbook construction after the founding of the People's Republic of China from 1949 to 1976; the formation and innovation of the textbook development process from 1977 to the present, following the restoration of the college entrance examination. For each phase, the article not only records the historical development of physiology textbooks, but also analyzes the evolution of their content, writing styles and the interaction with the social and political contexts.

To explore the characteristics and influencing factors of soil bacterial communities in degraded marsh wetlands, we divided the tussock marsh wetland in northeast China into three degradation degrees: non-degraded (ND), mildly degraded (LD), and heavily degraded (HD). High-throughput sequencing technology and PICRUSt bacterial function prediction tools were used. We analyzed the soil environmental characteristics and soil microbial community structure characteristics of degraded wetlands and explored the influencing factors of microbial changes in degraded wetlands.

In this work, by ingeniously integrating catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA), double-end Mg-dependent DNAzyme, and hybridization chain reaction (HCR) as a triple cascade signal amplifier, an efficient concatenated CHA-DNAzyme-HCR (CDH) system was constructed to develop an ultrasensitive electrochemical biosensor with a low-background signal for the detection of microRNA-221 (miRNA-221). In the presence of the target miRNA-221, the CHA cycle was initiated by reacting with hairpins H1 and H2 to form DNAzyme structure H1-H2, which catalyzed the cleavage of the substrate hairpin H0 to release two output DNAs (output 1 and output 2). Subsequently, the double-loop hairpin H fixed on the electrode plate was opened by the output DNAs, to trigger the HCR with the assistance of hairpins Ha and Hb.

Petroleum-source and black carbon-source aromatic compounds are present in the cold seep environments, where ANaerobic MEthanotrophic (ANME) archaea as the dominant microbial community mediates the anaerobic oxidation of methane to produce inorganic and organic carbon. Here, by predicting the aromatics catabolic pathways in ANME metagenome-assembled genomes, we provide genomic and biochemical evidences that ANME have the potential of metabolizing aromatics via the strategy of CoA activation of the benzene ring using phenylacetic acid and benzoate as the substrates. Two ring-activating enzymes phenylacetate-CoA ligase (PaaK) and benzoate-CoA ligase (BadA) are able to convert phenylacetate to phenylacetyl-CoA and benzoate to benzoyl-CoA respectively.

Background And Objectives: Up to 50% of patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) without acetylcholine receptor antibodies (AChR-Abs) have antibodies to muscle-specific kinase (MuSK). Most MuSK antibodies (MuSK-Abs) are IgG4 and inhibit agrin-induced MuSK phosphorylation, leading to impaired clustering of AChRs at the developing or mature neuromuscular junction. Herein, we developed a novel three-dimensional (3D) self-accelerated DNA walker (SADW) which progressively expedite walking rate by unlocking the more walking arm continuously in walker process to construct electrochemical biosensor for ultrasensitive detection of microRNA. Particularly, we skillfully introduced a target analogue sequence in the double-loop hairpin, which could be released in the walking process of SADW, then rapidly activating more silenced walking strands to achieve the continuous self-acceleration, resulting in the expedited reaction rate. Surprisingly, the average reaction rate of SADW was quite higher than that of traditional 3D self-circulating DNA walkers (DW) under pretty low target miRNA concentration, which is ascribed to the outstanding acceleration process of the SADW, readily conquering the major predicaments of DW in detecting target with traces concentration: slow reaction rate and low sensitivity.

As a specific type of asthenoteratozoospermia, multiple morphological abnormalities of the sperm flagella (MMAF) is characterized by composite abnormalities, including absent, short, coiled, angulation, and irregular-caliber flagella. Mutations in cilia- and flagella-associated protein 43 ( CFAP43 ) are one of the main causative factors of MMAF established to date.
