Introduction: Preeclampsia (PE) is a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy characterized by pronounced placental oxidative stress and inflammatory damage. However, the contribution of mitophagy to inflammation-induced placental injury in PE remains unclear.
Methods: Human placenta samples were collected from 15 normal pregnant women and 15 preeclampsia pregnant women.
Background: The composition of the gut microbiota both prior to and after haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is increasingly implicated in the outcomes of HSCT, including infections, poor immune reconstitution and disease relapse. Faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) offers a potential strategy of supporting the gut microbiota and improve HSCT outcomes. Although FMT has been investigated in HSCT recipients, it has largely been evaluated therapeutically for indications such as infection, or once immunocompetency is regained.

Modulating the excitatory amino acid transporter 3 (EAAT3) can be considered a novel approach for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). EAAT3 plays a crucial role in regulating oxidative stress and oligodendrocyte function through its ability to transport cysteine, the rate-limiting building block in the synthesis of the antioxidant glutathione. Therefore, EAAT3 activation is hypothesised to improve oligodendrocyte health and relieve its differentiation block in MS, improving remyelination capacity.

High-resolution extracellular electrophysiology is the gold standard for recording spikes from distributed neural populations, and is especially powerful when combined with optogenetics for manipulation of specific cell types with high temporal resolution. We integrated these approaches into prototype Neuropixels Opto probes, which combine electronic and photonic circuits. These devices pack 960 electrical recording sites and two sets of 14 light emitters onto a 1 cm shank, allowing spatially addressable optogenetic stimulation with blue and red light.
