Developing high-efficiency bifunctional electrocatalysts for both oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is an essential prerequisite for energy conversion and storage technologies. This work systematically investigates the potential of a series of transition metals (TM = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Re, Os, Ir, Pt, Au) loaded on two different sites of antimonene (I/II-TM-Sb) as ORR/OER bifunctional electrocatalysts by density functional theory (DFT) methods. For ORR, the calculation results show that I-Ag-Sb, II-Pt-Sb and II-Pd-Sb have the best ORR activity, and their overpotential values are 0.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a relapsing inflammatory bowel disease with limited effective treatment options. Ferroptosis, characterized by lipid peroxidation-induced cellular death, is involved in UC pathogenesis. Propionic acid, a short-chain fatty acid, has demonstrated therapeutic potential in alleviating numerous conditions; however, its role and underlying mechanisms in UC remain unclear.

Unlabelled: Sedentary behavior for two years during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic contributes to weight gain. Gut microbiota and blood metabolome are related to body mass index (BMI) and indicate individual metabolic changes. Surgery and exercise are effective weight-loss methods.

Cu-based metal-organic frameworks (Cu-MOFs) integrate the high tunability of molecular systems with the high activity of metal sites, making them promising electrocatalysts for the electrocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide (CORR). To date, the primary challenge in the application of Cu-MOFs in electrocatalytic CORR is their poor stability during the reduction process. Herein, we pursue experimental and theoretical insights into Cu-C MOFs for the CORR for the first time.

Messenger RNA (mRNA) has emerged as a highly promising therapeutic approach with successful applications across various diseases. Developing safe and efficient carriers to preserve mRNA integrity during in vivo delivery is critical for ensuring the therapeutic efficacy of mRNA-based treatments. Exosomes, natural nanovesicles secreted by cells, possess several favorable properties, including excellent biocompatibility, low immunogenicity, the unique ability to traverse physiological barriers and to target specific cell types, which make them attractive candidates for mRNA delivery.

Diabetic wound healing is severely hindered by prolonged oxidative stress and susceptibility to bacterial infections. To address this challenge, a dual-network hydrogel (PVA/HA@BT) was developed by integrating baicalein (BCE), a natural antioxidant, and tannic acid-stabilized silver nanoparticles (TA-AgNPs) into a polyvinyl alcohol/hyaluronic acid (PVA/HA) matrix. The hydrogel enables sustained BCE release to neutralize reactive oxygen species and alleviate oxidative damage, while synergistically enhancing antibacterial efficacy through the combined action of BCE and TA-AgNPs.

We introduce a new conversation head generation benchmark for synthesizing behaviors of a single interlocutor in a face-to-face conversation. The capability to automatically synthesize interlocutors which can participate in long and multi-turn conversations is vital and offer benefits for various applications, including digital humans, virtual agents, and social robots. While existing research primarily focuses on talking head generation (one-way interaction), hindering the ability to create a digital human for conversation (two-way) interaction due to the absence of listening and interaction parts.

Probiotic therapy holds potential for preventing and treating various gastrointestinal diseases, including diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). Previous studies have suggested that it can help restore intestinal mucosal immunity and gut microbiota dysbiosis in IBS-D patients. Probiotics regulate host microbial metabolism and immune homeostasis, thereby improving host health.

Chinese post-fermented teas are produced through special fermentation by microorganisms, with fungi significantly contributing to their flavor and sensory characteristics. Here, the fungal community structure and function were investigated using Illumina HiSeq sequencing of the fungal ITS rDNA region across different post-fermented teas, including Fuzhuan, Qingzhuan, Tianjian black, Liupao, and raw and ripened Pu-erh. Additionally, the headspace solid-phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) technology was used to compare the volatile components of tea samples, and moisture content, pH, total nitrogen, carbon-nitrogen ratio, and total sulfur were measured.
