Ferroptosis therapy employs reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated via Fenton or Fenton-like reactions. However, the antioxidant system associated with the tumor microenvironment (TME) exhibits high levels of glutathione (GSH) that significantly restrict the therapeutic efficacy of ferroptosis. In this study, we propose a near-infrared (NIR)-responsive hollow mesoporous manganese dioxide (HM-MnO) nanoprobe with multi-enzyme-like activity for enhanced ROS generation and GSH depletion that can efficiently promote ferroptosis.

The electrochemical CO reduction reaction (CORR), as a novel technology, holds great promise for carbon neutrality. Immobilized molecular catalysts are considered efficient CORR catalysts due to their high selectivity and fast electron transfer rates. However, at high current densities, changes in the microenvironment of molecular catalysts result in a decrease in the local CO concentration, leading to suboptimal catalytic performance.

Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)-based solid-state lithium-sulfur batteries (SSLSBs) have garnered considerable interest owing to their impressive energy density and high safety. However, the dissolved lithium polysulfide (LiPS) together with sluggish reaction kinetics disrupts the electrolyte network, bringing about ionic conductive breakpoints and severely limiting battery performance. To cure this, we propose an in situ welding strategy by introducing phosphorus pentasulfide (PS) as the welding filler into PEO-based solid cathodes.

Active adjustable terahertz multifunctional devices are crucial for the application of terahertz technology. In this paper, we propose a composite metasurface structure based on an indium antimonide metal octagonal pattern, which achieves different functional switching by controlling the phase state of indium antimonide material under different ambient temperatures. When indium antimonide exhibits in the dielectric state, by stacking and encoding the unit cell, the designed metasurface has the functions of two-beam splitting beam superposition, vortex beam and quarter beam superposition, and dual vortex beam superposition for circularly polarized and linearly polarized wave incidence.

Cascaded inverse fast Fourier transform/fast Fourier transform (IFFT/FFT)-based multi-channel aggregation/de-aggregation offers a promising solution in constructing highly desirable flexible optical transceivers for considerably improving optical networks' elasticity, flexibility, and adaptability. However, the multi-channel aggregation operation unavoidably results in generated signals having high peak-to-average power ratios (PAPRs). To solve this technical challenge, this paper first explores the PAPR characteristics of the corresponding flexible transceivers in optical back-to-back (B2B) and 20 km intensity modulation and direct detection (IMDD) transmission systems, and then numerically investigates the feasibility and effectiveness of utilizing the conventional clipping techniques in reducing their PAPR reductions.

Combined photothermal therapy and nitric oxide (NO)-mediated gas therapy has shown great potential as a cancer treatment. However, the on-demand release of NO at a high concentration presents a challenge owing to the lack of an ideal bio-transducer with a high loading capacity of NO donors and sufficient energy to induce NO release. Here, we present a new 2D BiTiS nanosheet that is synthesized, loaded with the NO donor (BNN6), and conjugated with PEG-iRGD to produce a multifunctional bio-transducer (BNN6-BiTiS-iRGD) for the on-demand production of NO.
