ObjectivesImmortal time bias (ITB) occurs when a period during which, by design, participants cannot experience the outcome (like death) is incorrectly included in the treatment group's follow-up, artificially making the treatment look better than it truly is. We aimed to identify a systematic sample of cases of ITB in the literature of studies using survival analysis and assess the impact of ITB on the results.DesignMeta-epidemiological study (PROSPERO[CRD42022356073]).

Background: Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a non-invasive therapy increasingly used for pain, inflammation, and tissue repair, yet a comprehensive synthesis of its effectiveness across multiple health outcomes remains lacking. Herein, we aimed to systematically assess the clinical effects and strength of evidence for PBM across a wide range of health outcomes using data from existing meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
Methods: We conducted an umbrella review of meta-analyses of RCTs, searching five databases up to December 8, 2023.
Peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) demonstrates promise for some neurological conditions. However, its effectiveness for essential tremor (ET) requires further research. In this randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled trial, we investigated the safety and efficacy of a single, 40-minute PNS session in ET.

Purpose: To estimate the prevalence of congenital color vision deficiency (CVD), categorized by geographical region, ethnicity, type (deutan, protan, and tritan), and severity (anomalous trichromacy, dichromacy, and monochromacy).
Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature.
Participants: A total of 1,703,619 participants, including 31,493 patients from 56 studies across 21 countries and five continents, were included in our analysis.
Background: Pharyngeal cancer has resulted in 3.23 million disability-adjusted life years as of 2019. Based on anatomical site, pharyngeal cancers are categorized into oropharyngeal cancers (OPCs), nasopharyngeal cancers (NPCs), and hypopharyngeal cancers (HPCs).

Thus, we analyzed global, regional, and national cancer mortality trends via the World Health Organization (WHO) Mortality Database among children aged 0-14 years and adolescents and young adults aged 15-34 across 77 WHO Member States.
Methods: Age-standardized country-specific cancer mortality rates (deaths per 100,000) and years of life lost between 1990 and 2021 were estimated via a locally weighted scatterplot smooth curve.
Background: The optimal body mass index (BMI) among older adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in geriatric assessment tests has not been studied. This study investigates the relationship between BMI and Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) parameters among older adults with CKD.
Methods: A total of 319 older adults with CKD were included.
Symptoms related to sleep, weight, and endocrine dysfunction are common in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Lewy body dementia (LBD). The cause of these symptoms is not known, but they may be related to hypothalamic neurodegeneration. We performed a systematic search of MEDLINE and EMBASE for studies using MRI or PET imaging to examine the hypothalamus in AD or LBD.

Thus, we aimed to investigate the association between DAO and MCI in a large nationally representative community-based sample from six LMICs (China, Ghana, India, Mexico, Russia, South Africa).
Methods: We analyzed cross-sectional data from the Study on Global Ageing and Adult Health.
Background: This study aimed to systematically assess the quality, biases, and credibility of associations between potential Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarkers through an umbrella review of existing meta-analyses.
Methods: We systematically searched PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, and Google Scholar up to December 18, 2024, for meta-analyses of observational studies examining biomarkers for AD. Two reviewers independently screened studies and extracted data.
Biostimulants, including calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA), poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), and polycaprolactone (PCL), have become popular in aesthetic medicine as they lead to long-term tissue rejuvenation. However, their efficacy (e.g.

Background: The prevalence of sleep-related problems in adolescents has been recognized as a public health issue. Research on how specific sleep-related problems may be related to mood and affect variations in this age group is scarce. Therefore, the current study aims to explore the relationships between sleep-related problems and positive and negative affect in a sample of Spanish adolescents.

SDOH can be optionally documented using Z codes from the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) in the French national hospital database. This study aimed to (a) describe the use of SDOH codes among adult inpatients in France in 2022, and temporal trends from 2014 to 2022; and (b) identify the characteristics of hospital stays associated with the presence of SDOH codes.

Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the global estimates of vaccine-associated narcolepsy, discern its association with specific vaccines, and thereby contribute to the advancement of more efficient vaccination protocols. This study utilized data from the international pharmacovigilance database concerning vaccine-associated narcolepsy from 1967 to 2023.

Methods: This study used data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2013 to 2021, including 45,391 individuals aged 19 years and older. Diet quality was assessed by the Korean Healthy Eating Index (KHEI) scores.
Background: Improvements in adipocytes levels can reduce the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, indicating adipocytes to be a hopeful remedial target in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and other related diseases. However, there is no consensus on the role of various exercise training on adipokines in T2DM and the results are contradictory. Therefore, this systematic review, meta-analysis, and meta-regression investigated the effects of different types of exercise training on some inflammatory adipokines concentrations in T2DM.

Despite its growing application, research on functional connectivity in BD remains limited, and task-induced functional connectivity remains under-investigated. This study aims to differentiate patients with BD from healthy controls (HCs) based on fNIRS-derived functional connectivity.

This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the association between Raynaud's phenomenon and various vaccines.
Method: This study used data from international pharmacovigilance, which contains over 35 million adverse event cases from more than 140 countries.
The symptoms of long COVID are well-documented. However, the long-term effects beyond 2 years remain poorly understood due to a lack of data. This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the prevalence of persistent symptoms in COVID-19 survivors 3 years following initial SARS-CoV-2 infection.

This systematic review aims to systematically examine the uptake of follow-up appointments with initial computer-based AI and human graders of DR.
Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis by screening articles in any languages in PubMed, MEDLINE (Ovid), EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane CENTRAL and CDSR published from database inception up to 20 August 2024.
Understanding whether individuals with mental illness, who face challenges related to healthcare barriers, are more vulnerable to postacute sequelae of COVID-19 is limited. Here, we investigated the potential association between pre-existing mental illness and postacute sequelae of COVID-19 across 12 major health domains and 141 specific diseases in COVID-19 survivors. The large-scale, population-based cohorts from South Korea (K-COV-N cohort) used in the study included 8 632 221 individuals aged 20 years or older who were infected with SARS-CoV-2 between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2022.

Differences in dietary patterns between men and women and across different age groups have been reported, but their influence on the risk of depression has not been fully explored.
Objectives: To investigate the associations between dietary patterns and risk of depression across sex and age groups to identify vulnerable subpopulations, which may inform targeted prevention and intervention strategies.
