Despite the growing prevalence of hypertension due to lifestyle changes and aging populations, with central obesity as a critical risk factor, there is limited research examining the association between central adiposity and hypertension trends. To address this gap, this study analyzed trends in hypertension prevalence among Korean adults categorized by healthy and increased central adiposity based on waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) and investigated the associated risk factors. We utilized data from 98,396 adults aged 30 years and older from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2005 to 2022 in South Korea.

This study aims to analyze the prevalence of ex-smokers and current smokers with cessation attempts in adolescents worldwide and to identify the factors that affect cessation attempts along with outcomes.
Methods: This study utilized the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (2010-2021) to investigate tobacco use among adolescents aged 13-15 years.
Background: In the context of increased health risks for individuals with underlying conditions due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, this study investigated whether dietary improvements differ based on the diagnosis of chronic diseases.
Methods: This study used data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2013 to 2021, including 45,391 individuals aged 19 years and older. Diet quality was assessed by the Korean Healthy Eating Index (KHEI) scores.
Early initiation of antiretroviral therapy (ART) following HIV-1 infection restricts the size of the latent reservoir, following both horizontal and vertical infections. Here, we comprehensively profile the reservoirs and immunological milieus of nine young adults who acquired HIV-1 perinatally and remained on suppressive long-term ART (median: 20 years) since infancy (LeukoHIV cohort). Genome-intact reservoirs are markedly smaller compared to a cohort of adults on suppressive ART started in adulthood, with some LeukoHIV individuals characterized by an absence or near absence of intact proviruses in up to a billion peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs).

Most existing research focuses on Western countries, holding a gap in understanding drug use in low- and middle-income countries. Thus, we aimed to assess the prevalence of cannabis and amphetamine or methamphetamine use among school-going adolescents aged 12-15 years across 47 countries globally.

Despite rising consumption due to Westernized diets in Asia, long-term studies targeting Asian adults are lacking. Thus, we analyzed ultra-processed food consumption trends among Korean adults from 1998 to 2022.

Thus, this study aimed to investigate the trends and association of subjective health with demographic and behavioral factors, primarily focusing on the change when the COVID-19 pandemic emerged. This study used data from the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, comprising 1,190,468 adolescents aged 12-18 years (female, 48.

The issue of adolescent secondhand smoke (SHS) is globally significant, given that it serves as a preventable risk factor for disease prevalence and mortality rates among youth. This study evaluates trends in adolescent SHS across 27 countries from 2003 to 2021, aiming to identify global variations and sex-specific differences, providing insights for future policy recommendations. The data for this study were collected from the Global School-based Student Health Survey conducted by the World Health Organization, 2003-2021.

Aim: This study classified 99 countries into four income groups and then analysed the impact of secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure at home, in public places and at school, on current cigarette smoking prevalence.
Methods: We utilised data from the WHO Global Youth Tobacco Survey and a meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the prevalence and weighted odds ratios (wORs) of adolescent smoking behaviour and SHS exposure locations.
Results: Both smoking behaviours increased with higher national income levels.
Prior research has predominantly focused on the overall effects of the tobacco tax increase and the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescent smoking behavior. However, there is a need to examine both the immediate and sustained associations of these two factors on subgroups of adolescents, employing an interrupted time-series model. We aimed to investigate the immediate and sustained association of tobacco tax increase and the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescent smoking prevalence.

Subsequent analysis of higher resolution spectra, including those using a sample enriched in HCCH, obtained with a Balle-Flygare FTMW spectrometer reveals a novel structure, as predicted by theory, for the complex, in which the acetylene functions as the gas-phase (Lewis) base and the halopropene as the acid. In the equilibrium structure, the acetylene molecule is located perpendicular to the symmetry plane of ()-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene with the triple bond interacting with the two olefinic hydrogens.
