The electrochemical C─N coupling of CO and nitrogenous species provides a promising approach for synthesizing valuable chemicals such as urea, amides, and other C─N compounds. However, the unbalanced formation of C- and N-intermediates results in slow C─N coupling kinetics. Herein, we report an atomically Pd-bridged Cu/CuO (Pd-Cu/CuO) catalyst, synthesized through the in situ electrochemical reconstruction of Pd-CuTe nanosheets.

Inducing the degradation of KRAS represents a novel strategy to combat cancers with KRAS mutation. In this study, we identify ubiquitin-specific protease 2 (USP2) as a novel deubiquitinating enzyme of KRAS in multiple myeloma (MM). Specifically, we demonstrate that gambogic acid (GA) forms a covalent bond with the cysteine 284 residue of USP2 through an allosteric pocket, inhibiting its deubiquitinating activity.

NbO has become a focus of research for its suitability as an anode material in sodium ion capacitors (SICs), due to its open ionic channels. The integration of NbO with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) is known to boost its electrical conductivity. However, the sluggish interfacial charge transfer kinetics and interface collapse of NbO/rGO pose challenges to its rate capability and durability.

Electrochemical conversion of carbon and nitrogen sources into valuable chemicals provides a promising strategy for mitigating CO emissions and tackling pollutants. However, efficiently scaling up C-N products beyond basic compounds like urea remains a significant challenge. Herein, we upgrade the C-N coupling for acetamide synthesis through coreducing CO and nitrate (NO) on atomic-scale Cu dispersed on boron nitride (Cu/BN) nanosheets.

This study aimed to elucidate the role of TP53-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator (TIGAR) in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). A rat model PCOS was constructed by subcutaneous injection with dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). Follicular atresia and reduced granular cells (GCs) in ovaries suggested successful modeling.

Electrocatalysts undergo structural evolution under operating electrochemical CO reduction reaction (CORR) conditions. This dynamic reconstruction correlates with variations in CORR activity, selectivity, and stability, posing challenges in catalyst design for electrochemical CORR. Despite increased research on the reconstruction behavior of CORR electrocatalysts, a comprehensive understanding of their dynamic structural evolution under reaction conditions is lacking.

Article Synopsis
  • Halogen bonds (XBs) are important for molecular recognition and drug design, but research has primarily focused on halogenated ligands rather than naturally occurring or specially prepared halogenated residues (hr_XBs).
  • This study utilized computational methods like database searches and molecular dynamics simulations to investigate hr_XBs in proteins and peptides, revealing that XBs at protein-peptide interfaces can enhance binding affinities.
  • It also found that intramolecular XBs (intra_XBs) contribute to structural stability in flexible proteins, while their absence can reduce stability in proteins that are already rigid.

Article Synopsis
  • - Halogenation is a key technique used to modify lead compounds, enhancing their lipophilicity for better membrane permeability and bioavailability.
  • - In this study, 19.9% of organohalogen compounds showed increased water solubility compared to their non-halogenated versions, with iodination being the most effective.
  • - The presence of groups like amino, hydroxyl, and carboxyl in organohalogens boosts their solubility, while a trifluoromethyl group decreases it; increased polarity and polarizability from halogenation contribute to these changes.

Dynamically evolving adhesions between cells and extracellular matrix (ECM) transmit time-varying signals that control cytoskeletal dynamics and cell fate. Dynamic cell adhesion and ECM stiffness regulate cellular mechanosensing cooperatively, but it has not previously been possible to characterize their individual effects because of challenges with controlling these factors independently. Therefore, a DNA-driven molecular system is developed wherein the integrin-binding ligand RGD can be reversibly presented and removed to achieve cyclic cell attachment/detachment on substrates of defined stiffness.
