Purpose: This study explores whether certain trace elements are genetically linked to male infertility by using large-scale genetic data and a method called Mendelian randomization (MR), which helps infer causal relationships.

Materials And Methods: We obtained genetic data related to trace minerals and iron metabolism from three databases: the IEU Open GWAS, UK Biobank, and FinnGen Biobank. We used standard MR analysis tools to evaluate the relationship between genetic variants associated with trace elements and the risk of male infertility.

Background: Collagen, within the tumor microenvironment (TME), assumes a crucial function in the development of cancer. However, the expression of collagen genes in bladder cancer (BCa) remains inadequately comprehended. The aim of this study is to examine the collagen genes expression in the BCa TME, and construct a nomogram to predict the overall survival for patients diagnosed with BCa.

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a serious complication of diabetes, and the global burden of the disease is gradually increasing.

Methods: This study systematically analyzed the trends and future projections of the worldwide burden of chronic kidney disease caused by type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus based on the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) using data from 1990 to 2021. Number of deaths, Age-standardized mortality rates, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), and age-standardized DALYs rate were used to estimate the disease burden.

The construction of a predictive model that accurately reflects the spontaneous combustion temperature of coal in goaf is fundamental to monitoring and early warning systems for thermodynamic disasters, including coal spontaneous combustion and gas explosions. In this paper, on the basis of programming temperature experiment and industrial analysis, 381 data sets of 9 coal types are established, and feature selection was executed through the utilization of the Pearson correlation coefficient, ultimately identifying O, CO, CO, CH, CH, CH/CH, CH/CH, CH/CH, CO/CO, and CO/O as input indicators for the prediction model. The chosen indicator data were divided into training and testing sets in a 4:1 ratio, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) methodology was applied to optimize the parameters of the XGBoost regressor, and a universal PSO-XGBoost prediction model is proposed.

The reliable long-distance transmission of electromagnetic wave signals within goaf is fundamental for the implementation of wireless monitoring and early warning systems for goaf-related disasters. This paper establishes an experimental platform for electromagnetic wave signal transmission within goaf and develops a propagation model for electromagnetic waves in the porous media of goaf. The transmission characteristics of electromagnetic waves at various frequencies within the porous media environment of goaf are investigated through experimental and numerical simulation approaches.

Article Synopsis
  • The positive pressure beam tube system is an improved method for monitoring coal spontaneous combustion, addressing problems of gas composition distortion and delays seen in negative pressure systems.
  • This study focuses on experimenting with factors like pressurization device choice, pipe length, diameter, and pressure to understand their effects on gas transmission characteristics.
  • Results show that two-stage high positive pressure transport (0.65 MPa) and a pipe diameter of 7 mm lead to the most effective gas transmission, while longer pipelines require higher pressures to maintain efficiency.

Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is associated with the development and progression of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Tripartite motif containing 24 (TRIM24) deficiency causes hepatic lipid accumulation and hepatitis. However, the expression, function, and mechanism of TRIM24 in OSAS and MASLD remain unclear.

Background: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficiency and safety of percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) between flank position and prone position for the treatment of renal stones.

Methods: PubMed, Embase, OVID, and Cochrane Library were comprehensively searched from their inception to Jul 2024. Randomized and nonrandomized trials evaluating renal calculi patients who underwent PCNL via flank position or prone position were included.

T cells play critical role in multiple immune processes including antigen response, tumor immunity, inflammation, self-tolerance maintenance and autoimmune diseases et. Fetal liver or bone marrow-derived thymus-seeding progenitors (TSPs) settle in thymus and undergo T cell-lineage commitment, proliferation, T cell receptor (TCR) rearrangement, and thymic selections driven by microenvironment composed of thymic epithelial cells (TEC), dendritic cells (DC), macrophage and B cells, thus generating T cells with diverse TCR repertoire immunocompetent but not self-reactive. Additionally, some self-reactive thymocytes give rise to Treg with the help of TEC and DC, serving for immune tolerance.

Previous study showed that higher expression of prolactin (PRL) was found in CRPC samples compared with hormone-naive prostate cancer (HNPC) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) samples. We further investigate the function of PRL in prostate cancer (PCa) and explored its downstream effects. We found heterogeneous expression of the PRLR in clinical prostate samples.

The gases evolution during the low-temperature oxidation of coal is an essential parameter used to assess the state of coal oxidation and to estimate the gaseous pollutants. However, the current semi-quantitative method, which employs gas concentration as the measurement standard, is flawed. This paper presents a quantitative calculation method for gas products during coal oxidation.

Background: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are the most important cellular components in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA) and are involved in the development and immunosuppression of BLCA. Therefore, we aimed to construct a CAF-associated signature for predicting the prognosis and immunotherapy response in patients with BLCA.

Methods: CAF infiltration and stromal score were quantified using two algorithms.

This study investigates a visual object detection technology in order to help doctors diagnose bladder lesions with endoscopy. A new object detection approach based on deep learning is presented, which derived from the cascade R-CNN and extended the ability of network for adapting insufficient endoscopic lesions samples when training a deep neural network. We propose a feature adaptive fusion model to increase the network's mobility and reduce the possibility of overfitting problems, and use task adaptation meta-learning approach to train the feature fusion process of the entire model and the target network update process in order to complete the task-adaptive classification and detection.
