Paclitaxel, a compound that targets microtubules in cancer cells and inhibits mitosis, has been used as a first-line treatment for recurrent or metastatic breast cancer for over three decades. Research into paclitaxel resistance has yielded thousands of articles. However, this body of research has not been analyzed systematically and quantitatively.

Background: Existing evidence on maternal ambient air pollutants exposure during pregnancy and the risk of congenital heart defects (CHDs) and its subtypes in offspring is inconsistent, and few studies have focused on preconception exposure. The critical susceptibility window for air pollutants linked to CHDs remains poorly answered.
Objective: We aimed to explore whether maternal exposure to ambient air pollutants before and after conception were associated with the risk of CHDs and its subtypes, and determined the critical susceptibility windows and potential modifiers for air pollutants exposure on CHDs.
Although the short-term effectiveness of remedial sediment dredging (RSD) on mitigating sediment contamination in the lower Passaic river (LPR), New Jersey, USA, was previously established in previous studies, dredging impacts on overlying water and consequential effects on aquatic life and human health were not investigated through model-based risk assessment methods. This study assessed the influence of RSD on metal pollution and toxicological risks upstream and downstream of River Mile-3.4, which was the subject of a 2012 RSD.

Our high-density taxa and large-scale nuclear gene sampling confirm its monophyly, dividing it into the core trebouxiophyceans clade and the Chlorellales clade. We find that incomplete lineage sorting is a possible explanation for nuclear-nuclear discordance.

Therefore, OPEs may have potential for placental transfer and could impact neonatal development. However, the structural-specific transplacental mechanisms and toxicity effects of the OPEs remain poorly understood.

Most bioorthogonal photouncaging reactions preferentially occur in polar environments to accommodate biological applications in the aqueous cellular milieu. However, they are not precisely designed to chemically adapt to the diverse microenvironments of the cell. Herein, we report a hydrophobic photouncaging reaction with tailored photolytic kinetics toward solvent polarity.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study analyzed 189 GDM patients from Wuhan Children's Hospital between January 2021 and June 2023.
Photosensitizing fluorescent proteins (FP) (e.g. KillerRed) have been shown not capable of photo-catalytic protein proximity labeling for downstream proteomic profiling applications.

Background: The confused taxonomic classification of Crucigenia is mainly inferred through morphological evidence and few nuclear genes and chloroplast genomic fragments. The phylogenetic status of C. quadrata, as the type species of Crucigenia, remains considerably controversial.

Objective: The study aimed to investigate the impact of serum Podoplanin levels on diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Patients And Methods: Between January 2022 and December 2023, the Department of Nephrology at Nantong Second People's Hospital selected 276 patients with T2DM and 150 healthy controls for this investigation. Systematic data collection was performed to gather information on biomarkers and biochemical parameters.
Water quality monitoring reveals changing trends in the environmental condition of aquatic systems, elucidates the prevailing factors impacting a water body, and facilitates science-backed policymaking. A 2020 hiatus in water quality data tracking in the Lower Passaic River (LPR), New Jersey, has created a 5-year information gap. To gain insight into the LPR water quality status during this lag period and ahead, water quality indices computed with 16-year historical data available for 12 physical, chemical, nutrient, and microbiological parameters were used to predict water quality between 2020 and 2025 using seasonal autoregressive moving average (ARIMA) models.

Recent studies have shed light on the aggregated protein in breast cancer pathology, which suggests that it is crucial to design chemical sensors that visualize protein aggregates in breast cancer, especially in clinical patient-derived samples. However, most reported sensors are constrained in cultured cell lines.

Background: Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is the most prevalent biliary tract tumor characterized by a high incidence of recurrence, even after curative-intent surgery. The object of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate the risk factors related to early recurrence (ER).
Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science to identify published articles up to February 2024.
Aims: To investigate the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 3'UTR region of VAX1, SYT14 and PAX7 genes and the risk of non-syndromic cleft palate (NSCLP) in a northwest Chinese population.
Main Methods: A case-control study was conducted in 406 normal controls and 399 NSCLP patients. Using iMLDRTM genotyping technology, eight SNPs of three genes ((rs10787760, rs7086344 at VAX1), (rs1010113, rs851114, and rs485874 at PAX7), and (rs61820397, rs4609425, rs12133399 at SYT14)) were genotyped to investigate the differences in alleles and genotype distribution frequencies between NSCLP patients and healthy controls.
Bioaccumulation of nanoplastic particles has drawn increasing attention regarding environmental sustainability and biosafety. How nanoplastic particles interact with the cellular milieu still remains elusive. Herein, we exemplify a general approach to profile the composition of a "protein corona" interacting with nanoparticles via the photocatalytic protein proximity labeling method.

Intracellular proteome aggregation is a ubiquitous disease hallmark with its composition associated with pathogenicity. Herein, this work reports on a cell-permeable photosensitizer (P8, Rose Bengal derivative) for selective photo induced proximity labeling and crosslinking of cellular aggregated proteome. Rose Bengal is identified out of common photosensitizer scaffolds for its unique intrinsic binding affinity to various protein aggregates driven by the hydrophobic effect.

Establishing mutualistic relationships between plants and fungi is crucial for overcoming nutrient deficiencies in plants. This review highlights the intricate nutrient sensing and uptake mechanisms used by plants in response to phosphate and nitrogen starvation, as well as their interactions with plant immunity. The coordination of transport systems in both host plants and fungal partners ensures efficient nutrient uptake and assimilation, contributing to the long-term maintenance of these mutualistic associations.
