Based on the G85 high-fill subgrade project in east Gansu Province, this study conducts one-dimensional compression tests in the laboratory on both disturbed and in situ-compacted loess. Through the combination of the test results of remolded soil, compaction standards for each layer of the subgrade fill are established, and quality inspections of the compacted subgrade are performed. The experimental results demonstrate that the compression deformation of remolded loess exhibits a positive correlation with compaction degree and a negative correlation with moisture content.

Background: Research on the microbial roles in urolithiasis primarily focuses on the intestinal microbiota. This study analyzed urine and fecal samples from three cohorts: healthy controls (Control), patients with urinary stones (US), and postoperative patients (PS). We conducted 16S rRNA sequencing analysis to evaluate the variations in microbial communities among these groups during urinary stone production and therapy processes.

Therefore, the development of advanced technologies making use of chiral phenomena would critically benefit from measuring and controlling chiral electron dynamics on their natural attosecond timescales. Such endeavours have so far been hampered by the lack of characterized circularly polarized attosecond pulses, an obstacle that has recently been overcome.

However, STAT2's exact role in JEV-mediated IFN evasion remains unclear. Existing murine models of JEV infection predominantly employ high viral titers to induce encephalitis and primarily use immunocompetent or IFN receptor-deficient mice, limiting their utility for studying JEV's IFN evasion mechanisms.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLarge lossless currents in high-temperature superconductors (HTS) critically rely on dense defects with suitable size and dimensionality to pin vortices, with dislocations being particularly effective due to their 1D geometry to interact extensively with vortex lines. However, in non-metallic compounds such as HTS with rigid lattices, conventional deformation methods typically lead to catastrophic fracture rather than dislocation-mediated plasticity, making it a persistent challenge to introduce dislocations at high density. Here, an asymmetric stress field strategy is proposed using extrusion to directly nucleate a high density of dislocations in HTS by activating shear-driven lattice slip and twisting under superimposed hydrostatic compression.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most frequently diagnosed malignant tumors worldwide. Period circadian protein homolog 1 (PER1) is a primary component of the biorhythm molecular oscillation system. The objective of this study was to elucidate the association between PER1 and clinical BC outcomes and determine the potential effect of PER1 on BC tumor development.

To evaluate the value of lncRNA NEAT1 for diagnosing delayed fracture healing and its potential mechanism of action.
Methods: 122 traumatic fractures patients were collected, including 61 normal fracture healing (NFH) patients and 61 delayed fracture healing (DFH) patients.
Objectives: In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, China witnessed a surge in respiratory virus infections, which presented considerable challenges to primary health care systems. This study developed an interpretable prediction model using complete blood count (CBC) test data. This model aims to identify common respiratory virus infections in patients.

Background: This study aimed to optimize the visualization and measurement of the extracranial middle meningeal artery (exMMA) using head and neck CT angiography (CTA) to enhance trans-exMMA embolization therapy.
Methods: CTA images from 80 patients (40 males, 40 females; aged 21-80 y) were analyzed. Imaging postprocessing techniques, including plain view, multiplanar reconstruction (MPR), and 3D volume rendering (3DVR), were used to optimize exMMA visualization.
Objectives: While programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) inhibitors have improved cancer treatment, the function and mechanisms of programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1), particularly when expressed by cancer cells, remain unclear. This study aims to explore the role of PD-L1 within breast cancer cells and identify key targets for future immunotherapy.
Methods: RNA-seq was performed on breast cancer cells with silenced PD-L1 to screen for differentially expressed genes, followed by bioinformatics analysis.
Owing to their advantageous properties of super-elasticity and shape memory effect, shape memory alloys (SMAs) can dissipate seismic energy and minimize post-earthquake structural damage. In this study, an improved SMA multi-linear constitutive model is proposed first, and a new material model based on OpenSees platform is developed. Secondly, a new self-centering friction damper (SCFD) is proposed by combining SMA and friction material, and a numerical model is established and validated by damper tests.

While elevated NHR has been linked to the incidence and prognosis of acute ischemic stroke, its association with early hematoma expansion (HE) in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH) remains unclear.
Methods: Demographic data, clinical characteristics, laboratory values, and functional outcomes of patients diagnosed with sICH were retrospectively collected and analyzed.

Chlorogenic acid, a principal bioactive component of coffee, has been proposed to reduce the risk of urinary tract stones, though its underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study integrated Mendelian randomization and network pharmacology approaches to investigate its potential therapeutic role. A two-step Mendelian randomization analysis was conducted using genome-wide association data from the UK Biobank (coffee intake) and Finngen (upper urinary tract stones), focusing on European populations.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFLaser-induced air fluorescence in the ultraviolet regime is primarily attributed to transitions between the C and B states in excited neutral [Formula: see text] molecules and between the B and X states in [Formula: see text] ions. However, the mechanism underlying the former remains contentious, as direct population to the C state by light fields is forbidden by electron spin constraints. In this work, we investigate the mechanism of air fluorescence from excited neutral [Formula: see text] molecules by carrier-envelope phase-stabilized sub-4 femtosecond pulses.
