The genotoxin colibactin, a complex secondary metabolite, targets eukaryotic cell cycle machinery and contributes to neonatal sepsis and meningitis. Avian pathogenic (APEC) XM, which produces this genotoxin, is an agent of poultry diseases with zoonotic potential. In this study, we confirmed that was necessary for the APEC XM strain to produce colibactin, but it did not affect the growth, adhesion, or invasion of cells.

Liquid metal (LM) catalysis has been demonstrated to have obvious potential in the fields of energy conversion and environmental catalysis due to its unique dynamic interface, adjustable electronic structure and regenerative ability of active sites. Compared with traditional solid-state catalysts, the atomic-level degrees of freedom and fluidity of typical gallium-based LMs exhibit advantages such as anti-poisoning, interface self-repair, and dynamic regulation of reaction pathways. Based on the fundamental characteristics and mechanisms of LM catalysis, this work systematically expounds the phase structure regulation corresponding to achieving low-temperature fluidity.

The most cost-effective and environmentally benign method of producing hydrogen fuel from water is solar-driven hydrogen production, using efficient photocatalysts with low-energy photons. Engineering such a photocatalyst remains highly challenging. In this work, BiOBr(001) and BiOBr(010) nanosheets were synthesized using the hydrothermal method.

We demonstrate a dual-parameter control strategy that simultaneously modulates laser temperature and current to enhance the long-term frequency stability of optoelectronic oscillators (OEOs). A simulation environment was developed to model the frequency control dynamics, within which proportional-integral-derivative (PID) parameters were optimized using a genetic algorithm before hardware development. Experimental results show that the proposed approach expands the effective compensation range to 2.

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of noble metal particles has been recognized to play a significant role in photocatalysis. We designed the BiVO@Ag system by photo-deposition to prove the special role of Ag nanoparticles (NPs) in promoting water splitting. The BiVO@Ag considerably increases light absorption by the SPR effect of Ag NPs.

Global warming tends to alter vegetation phenology and prolong the growing season. However, the influence of permanent and intermittent inundation on wetland vegetation responses to climate warming remains uncertain. In this study, we explored the phenological dynamics of wetland vegetation-specifically the start of the growing season (SOS) and end of the growing season (EOS)-across Northeast China from 2001 to 2020 using satellite-derived normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) data.

Nonaqueous lithium-oxygen (Li-O) batteries, owing to their ultrahigh theoretical energy density, have attracted extensive research attention. However, the commercialization of these systems is limited by the sluggish kinetics, necessitating advanced catalyst design. Herein, ZIF-67 is utilized as a self-sacrificial template to fabricate dual spinel CoO@CuCoO with a porous core-shell structure via a simple solvothermal-calcination process, which is designed as a highly efficient cathode electrocatalyst for the Li-O battery.

Cell free deoxyribonucleic acids (cfDNA), fragments of DNA released by cell death or active secretion, has emerged as an inflammatory mediator closely associated with many inflammatory diseases. cfDNA-scavenging biomaterials could effectively capture or degrade cfDNA in body fluids, avoiding the activation of cellular innate and adaptive immune responses and thus inhibiting the development of inflammatory process. The development of cfDNA-scavenging biomaterials is in its infancy yet fast-growing.

Individuals diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) frequently encounter dysbiosis of the intestinal microbiota and are predisposed to psychiatric comorbidities, such as depression and anxiety. The development of oral therapeutics that concurrently attenuate intestinal inflammation, modulate gut microbiota, and ameliorate psychiatric symptoms is imperative for effective IBD management. This study introduced an orally administered Inulin gel incorporating magnesium diboride nanosheets (MgB@Inulin gel).

Green credit policy is an important practice of financial regulation, and its possible effect on energy resilience cannot be ignored. This article adopts theoretical derivation and empirical strategies to study the effect and mechanism of green credit on energy resilience. The promulgation of "green credit guidelines" is used as a quasinatural experiment, and the findings indicate that green credit can significantly improve energy resilience.

Despite the successful operation of convolutional neural networks (CNN) with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea (OSAHS) classification, the interpretability of these models is poor. The limited capacity to understand models hinders the comprehension of end-users, including sleep specialists. At the same time, these models need labeled data; however, this is a time-consuming, labor-intensive, and costly process.

In this study, large yellow croaker () protein isolates/gellan gum (PG) binary hydrogels with dense microstructure were used for embedding and delivery curcumin (Cur). The colitis-relieving effects of PG-Cur were further investigated using the dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis (UC) mouse model. Following PG-Cur treatment, weight loss, diarrhea, and shortening of the colon were significantly alleviated.

Elongation Factor Tu GTP-Binding Domain Containing 2 (EFTUD2), a core spliceosomal GTPase associated with Mandibulofacial Dysostosis with Microcephaly (MFDM), plays a mechanistically undefined role in cerebral development. To investigate its pathophysiological contributions, murine models are generated through conditional Eftud2 ablation and in utero electroporation of human pathogenic EFTUD2 variants into cortical neural stem cells (NSCs). Embryonic NSC-specific Eftud2 knockout resulted in cortical disorganization and microcephaly, while pathogenic variants led to significant neuronal loss.

Infrared photodetectors have garnered significant attention in modern optoelectronics due to various applications. However, uncooled infrared photodetectors based on narrow-bandgap materials suffer from high dark current arising from thermal carrier excitation, posing a major challenge in achieving state-of-the-art infrared photodetectors with a blackbody response. In this work, we propose a van der Waals (vdW) complementary barrier infrared detector (CBD), which is composed of an electron barrier from gold/black phosphorus (Au/BP) Schottky contact and a hole barrier from molybdenum disulfide (MoS).
