Developing efficient and accurate photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing strategies to eliminate potential false positive or negative signals is crucial for practical applications. In this work, we report a PEC sensing strategy based on CuO nanoparticle-induced photocurrent polarity switching in a heterostructure of InP/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) combined with PdPt nanospheres (InP/ZnS@PdPt). The PdPt nanospheres not only provide versatile support for loading InP/ZnS QDs but also enable a 10-fold enhancement in the PEC activity of the InP/ZnS@PdPt compared to InP/ZnS QDs, attributed to the combined influence of localized surface plasmon resonance and the Schottky junction.

While researchers worldwide have used various theoretical constitutive models and scientific methods to investigate the mechanical properties of marine soft soils, no attempts have been made to establish a mechanical model based on the concept of disturbed state for marine soft soils. In this paper, based on the concept of disturbed state, we utilize triaxial and creep test methods, apply the Duncan tensor modulus to describe the relatively complete state of marine soft soil, and modify the Cambridge model to characterize the fully adjusted state.

To evaluate the efficacy and adverse reactions of recombinant human endostatin (Endostar) combined with chemoradiotherapy and immune drugs in patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who could not undergo surgery.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 190 patients with locally advanced NSCLC who could not undergo surgery.
Purpose: Currently, adjuvant concurrent radio-chemotherapy (ACRT) is the standard of care for head-and-neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC) with microscopically involved surgical margins (MISM) and/or extra-nodal extension (ENE), whereas the toxicity of cisplatin-based chemotherapy is non-negligible.
Methods: In the current study, we identified a novel biomarker, referred to as RPMB (Repair Gene Promoter Methylation Burden), with the aim of identifying the subset of HNSC patients who are likely to respond favorably to ACRT. RPMB is defined as the proportion of methylated DNA repair genes (DRGs) relative to the total number of DRGs.
Unlabelled: Histone lysine methyltransferase 2D (KMT2D/MLL4) critically modulates gene expression by methylating and acetylating histones H3K4/H3K27, thereby regulating the expression of specific target genes. Although KMT2D is highly mutated in a variety of cancers, its role in the progression of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to reveal the significance of KMT2D expression in OSCC and to preliminarily explore the regulatory effect of KMT2D on the expression of OSCC-related genes by influencing histone modifications.

Mitochondrial dysfunction-mediated T cell exhaustion is associated with the efficacy of tumor therapy; however, the effect of radiotherapy (RT) on the mitochondrial function of peripheral blood immune cells remains still unclear. Therefore, the current study aimed to determine mitochondrial function indicators in immune cells, in particular mitochondrial mass (MM) and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), to assess the dynamic changes of immune status in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) during RT. Peripheral venous blood was collected from patients with locally advanced NPC at day 1 pre-RT, at the 10th fraction of RT and within 2 days after RT.

It is important to consider whether EGFR-TKI can be simultaneously received when treating with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and anti-infective therapy in these patients, and what adverse events should be noted?
Case Presentation: We report a case of EGFR 19 exon-deficient bilateral diffuse LUAD complicated with ARDS. When treated with ECMO and anti-infective therapy, the patient received oral osimertinib anti-tumor therapy simultaneously.
This study introduces a novel landfill cover material, employing lake sediment as a substrate, stabilised with fly ash, slag, desulfurisation gypsum and construction waste. The mechanical properties, including shear strength parameters, unconfined compressive strength, hydraulic conductivity, volumetric shrinkage, and water content, of the solidified sludge were evaluated. The microscopic mechanism of the solidified sludge were investigated through XRD, FTIR, and SEM-EDS techniques.

Mitochondrial dysfunction, a hallmark of immune cell failure, affects the antitumor effects of immune cells through metabolic reprogramming, fission, fusion, biogenesis, and immune checkpoint signal transduction of mitochondria. According to researchers, restoring damaged mitochondrial function can enhance the efficacy of immune cells. Nevertheless, the mechanism of mitochondrial dysfunction in immune cells in patients with cancer is unclear.

We investigated how these inflammatory markers affect the prognosis of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) receiving immunotherapy.
Methods: The databases PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane were systematically searched up until March 26, 2024, to identify relevant literature.
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the effects of chest wall bolus in intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) technology on clinical outcomes for post-mastectomy breast cancer patients.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included patients with invasive carcinoma ((y)pT0-4, (y)pN0-3) who received photon IMRT after mastectomy at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University from 2014 to 2019. The patients were divided into two groups based on whether they received daily bolus application or not, and the baseline characteristics were matched using propensity score matching (PSM).

The superior physical and biological properties of high linear energy transfer (LET), as opposed to traditional low-LET rays, underscore the advantage of proton therapy (PRT) and carbon ion radiotherapy (CIRT) are better than traditional photon radiotherapy (XRT). With the advancements in science, an increasing number of hospitals have introduced new technologies. However, radiotherapy is primarily used for local treatment, which means that if the tumor has metastasized to distant sites, it is often necessary to combine it with systemic therapies such as immunotherapy.

An advanced nanoplatform was developed by integrating catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) with glutathione-responsive nanocarriers, enabling superior imaging of dual cancer-related miRNAs. Two distinct CHA circuits for the sensing of miRNA-21 and miRNA-155 were functionalized on biodegraded MnO. In the presence of GSH and the corresponding miRNAs, the degraded MnO released the DNA cargos, activating the CHA circuits and recovering the fluorescence.
