Purpose: Sepsis, which is triggered by infection and characterized by a systemic inflammatory response, has been associated with the diagnosis of sepsis, although the detailed molecular basis remains unclear. This study explores parthanatos-related genes (PRGs) as potential biomarkers for sepsis diagnosis and treatment.
Patients And Methods: Data from GSE65682, GSE167363, and GSE95233 were analyzed.
Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Tuomin Zhiti decoction (, TZD) in the short-term treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR).
Methods: This study is a randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled, and single-center clinical trial. In April 2021, during the spring pollen season in Beijing, 94 SAR patients aged 19-60 years were randomized (1:1 ratio) to receive two weeks of TZD or placebo.
Low temperature at booting (LTB) reduces rice 1000-grain weight. Crucial enzymes associated with carbon and nitrogen metabolic pathways impact grain starch and protein synthesis, altering the grain filling rate and 1000-grain weight. Unfortunately, limited research has been conducted on 1000-grain weight formation of high-quality rice under LTB.

Background: Spontaneous psoas hematoma is a very rare clinical entity, and the pathogenesis and pathologic mechanisms of spontaneous psoas hematoma remain unclear, thus, it is of great value to explore.
Case Presentation: We encountered a patient who developed femoral nerve paralysis due to psoas muscle hematoma following posterior lumbar fusion surgery. A 69-year-old female with lumbar spinal canal stenosis underwent posterior lumbar fusion at the L3-4 and L4-5 levels.

Objective: This article investigates the relationship between common chronic diseases and depression among US adults and examines the mediating role of sleep in this relationship, using a cross-sectional study to offer recommendations for depression prevention.
Methods: This study analyzed data from 10,710 participants collected from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) between 2005 and 2018. Logistic regression, subgroup analysis, restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis, and mediation analysis were employed to explore the relationship between common chronic diseases and depression, and the mediating role of sleep.

The unique insertion capability of Ag into cytosine-cytosine (C-Ag-C) mismatch-base pairs enables precise fabrication of DNA-trapped silver nanoclusters (DNA-AgNCs) through varying the DNA sequences, thereby offering precise assembly of DNA-AgNCs and demonstrating great fluorescence applications. However, most of the DNA-AgNC-based fluorescence sensors have a single output signal. Herein, we developed a dimerized DNA-AgNC system through C-Ag-C connection at the 3'-end of a designed DNA.

Here we analyze 3318 Yersinia pestis genomes, spanning nearly a century and including 2336 newly sequenced strains, to shed light on the patterns of genetic diversity and variation distribution at the population level. We identify 45 genomic regions ("hot regions", HRs) that, although comprising a minor fraction of the genome, are hotbeds of genetic variation.

High-quality aromatic rice (HAR) is most sensitive to low-temperature stress at the booting stage (LTB), and LTB leads to quality reduction. The key enzymes involved in nitrogen and carbon metabolism significantly affect the synthesis of proteins and starch, thereby influencing the nutritional and taste quality of rice. However, to date, no studies have focused on the after-effects of low-temperature at booting on the quality formation of HAR.

This study explored the mechanism by which the m6A demethylase ALKBH5 mediates epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) and AKI-chronic kidney disease (CKD) transition. HK-2 cells were stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to establish an in vitro model of SA-AKI. ALKBH5 expression was reduced through the transfection of si-ALKBH5.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare clinical and radiological outcomes of the anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) with a novel zero-profile variable-angle (Zero-P VA) spacer and a traditional poly-ether-ether-ketone (PEEK) cage and plate system in cases pertaining to cervical radiculopathy/myelopathy. There are two conventional types of ACDF procedures aimed at treating symptomatic cervical spondylosis.

This paper reports a method for calculating the electromagnetic force acting on an aluminum honeycomb sandwich panel moving in a magnetic field. This research is motivated by the non-contact electromagnetic detumbling technology for space non-cooperative targets. Past modeling of the electromagnetic forces and torques generally assumes that the target is homogeneous.

Objective: To determine whether superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione reductase (GR) correlated with the intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) severity and the postoperative spinal fusion rate in lumbar spinal stenosis patients accompanied with lumbar disc herniation.
Methods: This retrospective study investigated 310 cases of posterior lumbar decompression and fusion. The cumulative grade was calculated by adding the pfirrmann grades of all the lumbar discs.
Purpose: There has been an association between changes in body composition, fracture incidence, and age in previous studies. Telomere length (TL) has been proposed as a biomarker of aging. However, the relationship between body composition, fractures, and TL has rarely been studied.

Most OC cases are typically diagnosed at advanced stages, which has led to a 5-year overall survival rate of less than 35% following conventional treatment. Furthermore, immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy has shown limited efficacy in the treatment of patients with OC, and CAR-T therapy has also demonstrated modest results owing to inadequate T cell infiltration.

Plague caused by remains a public health threat worldwide. Because multidrug-resistant strains have been found in both humans and animals, phage therapy has attracted increasing attention as an alternative strategy against plague. However, phage resistance is a potential drawback of phage therapies, and the mechanism of phage resistance in is yet to be investigated.

Yin-deficiency constitution (YINDC) is a common type of unbalanced constitutions in Chinese infants. An infant's gut microbiota directly affects the child's health and has long-term effects on the maturation of the immune and endocrine systems throughout life.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of rTMS combined with bilateral arm training (BAT) on the brain functional reorganization in patients with chronic stroke via functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS).
Methods: Fifteen stroke patients and fifteen age-matched healthy participants were enrolled and underwent single BAT session (s-BAT) and BAT immediately after 5-Hz rTMS over the ipsilesional M1 (rTMS-BAT), measured cerebral haemodynamics by fNIRS.
Background: As an increasingly popular complementary and alternative approach for early detection and treatment of disease, traditional Chinese medicine constitution (TCMC) divides human beings into those with balanced constitution (BC) and unbalanced constitution, where damp-heat constitution (DHC) is one of the most unbalanced constitutions. Many studies have been carried out on the microscopic mechanism of constitution classification; however, most of these studies were conducted in adults and rarely in infants. Many diseases are closely related to intestinal microbiota, and metabolites produced by the interaction between microbiota and the body may impact constitution classification.
