Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a fatal disease characterized by progressive and irreversible loss of lung function. CSP7 exerts anti-fibrotic effects on fibrotic lung (myo)fibroblasts, which are the primary effector cells in progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PF) restoring p53-microRNA-34a-feedback induction. However, p53-microRNA-34a's role in the anti-fibrotic effects of Nintedanib and Pirfenidone have not been explored.

Objective: This review summarizes the current mechanistic understanding of erogenous sensation and identifies existing knowledge gaps for future research.
Study Question: Can new genetic factors responsible for oocyte defects be identified in infertile women, especially for those with spindle assembly defects?
Summary Answer: We identified homozygous and compound heterozygous variants of DLGAP5 in three infertile individuals from two independent families.
What Is Known Already: Some genes have been found to be responsible for female infertility with oocyte maturation defects. During mitosis, DLGAP5 is involved in promoting microtubule polymerization and spindle formation.
Introduction: Gender-affirming surgeries, including hysterectomy, have been shown to reduce distress and improve quality of life for transgender men. However, the safety and efficacy of different hysterectomy approaches in transgender men have not been extensively studied. Here, we aim to compare postoperative complications among the different hysterectomy approaches in transgender men.

In this study, distributed fiber-optic sensors were deployed on steel pipe surfaces to monitor corrosion in the splash zone (a region particularly vulnerable to cyclic wet-dry conditions). The sensors were engineered to withstand aggressive marine exposure.

Given the known influence of hormonal fluctuations on seizure activity, this study evaluates whether GAHT affects seizure frequency in TGD individuals with a history of seizures. : We conducted a retrospective cohort study of TGD individuals with a documented history of seizures who initiated GAHT between January 2002 and November 2024.

Accurate preoperative radiological evaluation of the invasive ability of endometrial cancer (EC) can increase the degree of clinical benefit. The present study aimed to investigate the diagnostic performance of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-derived artificial intelligence for accurate preoperative assessment of the invasive risk.

To address the issue of insufficient reliability of fiber optic sensing networks in complex environments, this study proposes a self-diagnosis and self-healing method based on intelligent algorithms. This method integrates redundant fiber paths and a fault detection mechanism, enabling rapid data transmission recovery through redundant paths during network faults, ensuring the stable operation of the monitoring system. Unlike traditional self-diagnosis techniques that rely on an optical time domain reflectometer, the proposed self-diagnosis algorithm utilizes data structure analysis, significantly reducing dependence on costly equipment and improving self-diagnosis efficiency.

Increasing evidence supports the idea that intranuclear noncoding RNAs interact with target DNA to regulate their expression. The structural basis of this process involves the formation of DNA-RNA triple helices without unwinding the DNA double helix. This triplex formation process relies on the base pairing of the triplex target site (TTS) and the triplex-forming oligonucleotide (TFO), making the prediction of their binding crucial for mechanistic investigations.

Objective: To field test the GENDER-Q, a new PROM for gender-affirming care, in a large, international sample of transgender and gender diverse (TGD) adults and evaluate its psychometric properties.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This international cross-sectional study was conducted among TGD adults aged 18 years and older who were seeking or had received gender-affirming care within the past 5 years at 21 clinical sites across Canada, the United States, the Netherlands, and Spain; participants were also recruited through community groups (eg, crowdsourcing platform, social media).

The excellent impermeability makes graphene film an ideal candidate for thin film encapsulation technology. However, current chemical vapor deposition (CVD) graphene-based barrier films can not provide sufficient moisture barrier performance, suggesting a lack of understanding in mechanism that dominates water diffusion in/through graphene stacks. Herein, we fabricate large-area graphene barrier films with a record-low water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of 5 × 10g/(m·day), two orders of magnitude lower than previous works, in which two stacked Janus graphene films are intercalated by toluidine blue O (TBO) sub-monolayer: one side of graphene is decorated with fluorine- and oxygen-containing groups to allow crack-free transfer, while the other side is functionalized with hydroxyl groups to trap water.

Methods: The China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Database, VIP Database, PubMed, and National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) were searched using the keywords "infantile fibrosarcoma" and "congenital fibrosarcoma" for relevant articles published before August 2024. A total of 529 articles and 498 cases were identified, of which 48 articles and 149 cases were in Chinese and 479 articles and 349 cases were in foreign languages.
Although gemcitabine (GEM) is the cornerstone of the treatment of pancreatic cancer (PC), GEM resistance frequently arises. Circular RNA (circRNA) circ_0075829 is highly expressed in PC. However, whether circ_0075829 contributes to GEM resistance of PC is largely unknown.

Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a global healthcare problem that affects around 3 million people in the United States. Although the impact of gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) on IBD severity has been studied in cisgender patients, there is currently no literature on the impact of exogenous hormone therapy (HT) in transgender and nonbinary (TGNB) individuals.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective chart review of TGNB adults diagnosed with IBD and treated with HT for gender dysphoria at Johns Hopkins Hospital (2015-2022).

Programmed cell death ligand 2 (PD-L2), a ligand for the receptor programmed cell death 1 (PD-1), has an identity of 34% with its twin ligand PD-L1 and exhibits higher binding affinity with PD-1 than PD-L1. However, the role of PD-L2 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) progression, especially tobacco-induced cancer progression, has not been fully understood. Here, we found that PD-L2 promoted tumor growth in murine models with recruitment of regulatory T cells (Tregs).
