Steel pipes, while essential for modern infrastructure due to their high strength and load-bearing capacity, are prone to corrosion in the marine environment, leading to material degradation, compromised structural integrity, and elevated safety risks and economic losses. In this study, distributed fiber-optic sensors were deployed on steel pipe surfaces to monitor corrosion in the splash zone (a region particularly vulnerable to cyclic wet-dry conditions). The sensors were engineered to withstand aggressive marine exposure.

To address the issue of insufficient reliability of fiber optic sensing networks in complex environments, this study proposes a self-diagnosis and self-healing method based on intelligent algorithms. This method integrates redundant fiber paths and a fault detection mechanism, enabling rapid data transmission recovery through redundant paths during network faults, ensuring the stable operation of the monitoring system. Unlike traditional self-diagnosis techniques that rely on an optical time domain reflectometer, the proposed self-diagnosis algorithm utilizes data structure analysis, significantly reducing dependence on costly equipment and improving self-diagnosis efficiency.

Objective: To field test the GENDER-Q, a new PROM for gender-affirming care, in a large, international sample of transgender and gender diverse (TGD) adults and evaluate its psychometric properties.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This international cross-sectional study was conducted among TGD adults aged 18 years and older who were seeking or had received gender-affirming care within the past 5 years at 21 clinical sites across Canada, the United States, the Netherlands, and Spain; participants were also recruited through community groups (eg, crowdsourcing platform, social media).

Principles for fabricating moisture barrier films via stacked Janus graphene layers.

The excellent impermeability makes graphene film an ideal candidate for thin film encapsulation technology. However, current chemical vapor deposition (CVD) graphene-based barrier films can not provide sufficient moisture barrier performance, suggesting a lack of understanding in mechanism that dominates water diffusion in/through graphene stacks. Herein, we fabricate large-area graphene barrier films with a record-low water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of 5 × 10g/(m·day), two orders of magnitude lower than previous works, in which two stacked Janus graphene films are intercalated by toluidine blue O (TBO) sub-monolayer: one side of graphene is decorated with fluorine- and oxygen-containing groups to allow crack-free transfer, while the other side is functionalized with hydroxyl groups to trap water.
