Objective: To investigate the effects of 4-methylcatechol (4MC) on the migration and inflammatory response in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS), as well as its underlying mechanisms of action.

Methods: RA-FLS was isolated from synovial tissue donated by RA patients, and the optimal concentration of 4MC was determined by cell counting kit 8 method for subsequent experiments, and the effect of 4MC on the migratory ability of RA-FLS was evaluated via a cell scratch assay. An inflammation model of RA-FLS was induced by tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α).

Calonectria ilicicola causes soybean red crown rot (RCR), along with premature leaf aging, early defoliation, and necrosis, leading to seriously losses of yield and quality worldwide. Fludioxonil (Flu), a phenylpyrrole fungicide with a broad spectrum and high activity against phytopathogenic fungi. In this study, baseline sensitivity of 100 isolates collected from main soybean production areas to Flu was determined in vitro.

Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a refractory orthopedic disease that commonly affects young and middle-aged individuals. Long-term and high-dose use of glucocorticoids (GCs) is one of the main causes. Currently, the pathological mechanism of GCs-induced ONFH remains unclear, which poses difficulties for clinical prevention and treatment.

Residue interaction networks determine various characteristics of proteins, such as the folding rate, thermostability, and allosteric process. The interactions between residues can be described by distances or energies. The former is simple but less rigorous.

Objectives: The complex structure of tube lumen instruments (TLIs) makes them more difficult to clean compared to solid instruments. This study aims to improve the cleaning quality inspection of reusable TLIs, ensuring patient safety and clinical reliability.

Methods: This study improves the inspection of TLI cleaning quality using imaging analysis and deep learning techniques.

Background: Whether an adductor canal block (ACB) is more effective when administered before or after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is unclear. This study compared pain, stress, and functional outcomes between patients who received the block before surgery and those who received the block after surgery.

Methods: In this double-blinded trial, 100 patients at our hospital were randomized to receive an ACB at either 30 minutes before general anesthesia or postoperatively in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU).

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease that leads to joint deformity and ultimately disability. The metabolite of quercetin, 4-Methylcatechol (4-MC), has been acknowledged for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties; however, the protective effects of 4-MC on RA and its underlying mechanisms remain incompletely elucidated. In a collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) model, we observed that 4-MC effectively mitigated joint inflammation and bone destruction in CIA mice.

Introduction: Preemptive multimodal analgesia (PMA) is commonly employed for pain control after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, the optimal timing for initiating PMA remains unclear. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of PMA administered at different time points before TKA.

Rice spikelet rot disease (RSRD) is an emerging threat to rice crops, with sporadic but severe outbreaks in China in recent years. The composition of its pathogenic fungi has not been consistently identified, and chemical control methods remain unclear. This study aims to characterize the pathogen species responsible for RSRD and develop effective control strategies.

Traditional molecular dynamics simulation of biomolecules suffers from the conformational sampling problem. It is often difficult to produce enough valid data for post analysis such as free energy calculation and transition path construction. To improve the sampling, one practical solution is putting an adaptive bias potential on some predefined collective variables.

As the demand for high-performance dissimilar material joining continues to increase in fields such as aerospace, biomedical engineering, and electronics, the welding technology of dissimilar materials has become a focus of research. However, due to the differences in material properties, particularly in the welding between metals and non-metals, numerous challenges arise. The formation and quality of the weld seam are strongly influenced by laser process parameters.

Structure clustering is a general but time-consuming work in the study of life science. Up to now, most published tools do not support the clustering analysis on graphics processing unit (GPU) with root mean square deviation metric. In this work, we specially write codes to do the work.

Both bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and their exosomes suggest promising therapeutic tools for bone regeneration. Lithium has been reported to regulate BMSC function and engineer exosomes to improve bone regeneration in patients with glucocorticoid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head. However, the mechanisms by which lithium promotes osteogenesis have not been elucidated.

Glass-to-metal seals are a very important element in the construction of vacuum tubes, electric discharge tubes, pressure-tight glass windows in metal cases, and metal or ceramic packages of electronic components. This paper presents the influence of different pretreatment methods on the high-temperature wettability of 304 stainless steel by high-alumina glass sealing. The pretreatment of the steel included laser surface melting and pre-oxidizing.

Heme biosynthesis is a highly conserved pathway from bacteria to higher animals. Heme, which serves as a prosthetic group for various enzymes involved in multiple biochemical processes, is essential in almost all species, making heme homeostasis vital for life. However, studies on the biological functions of heme in filamentous fungi are scarce.
