Cognitive decline is age-specific or related to dementia and Alzheimer's disease (AD), which poses great concern to older adults. Exercise contributes to cognitive gains, with aerobic exercise (AE) being the most commonly studied type. However, other types, such as resistance exercise (RE), have received less attention in exercise-cognition research.

Accumulating evidence shows improved syntactic processing after exposure to a rhythmically regular compared to an irregular musical prime, environmental noise, or silence. One potentially shared system between musical rhythm and language processing may be responsible for the construction of hierarchical sequences. Following findings of a shorter-lived rhythmic priming effect in Jabberwocky and more precise neural tracking of linguistic constituents in natural language than in Jabberwocky, the present study hypothesized that (a) hierarchical structure building constitutes a key shared mechanism between rhythm and language processing and (b) semantic information may also play a role in structure building.

The experience of singles has been largely overlooked in relationship science, garnering a need for understanding correlates of singles' well-being. Gender is an important focus of well-being research, and qualitative work on singlehood has suggested that men and women may have experiences of singlehood that differ in important ways. In this study ( = 5941; 50% men; = 31.

BackgroundAdverse effects of COVID-19 vaccination on human menstrual cycle characteristics have been observed, but limited data are available on the relationship between COVID-19 vaccination status and birth rates.ObjectivesTherefore, we used nationwide data from the Czech Republic to examine rates of successful conceptions (SCs), that is, conceptions leading to live births 9 months later, for women who were either vaccinated or unvaccinated against COVID-19 before SC.MethodsSummary monthly COVID-19 vaccination and birth data for women in the Czech Republic aged 18-39 years were retrieved for the period from January 2021 to December 2023.

BackgroundHigher socioeconomic status (SES) among people with migraine has been associated with an increased use of triptans, but it is undetermined whether high SES is also associated with dispensation of monoclonal antibodies against calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRPi), a prophylactic treatment against migraine episodes. Our hypothesis was that higher SES is associated with CGRPi dispensation, although the association is expected to be attenuated in a country that generally allows for reimbursement of CGRPi costs.MethodsIn this register-based nested case-control study, the association between SES, categorized into three levels (low, middle and high) and the outcome of a first dispensation of a CGRPi was assessed among people with a migraine diagnosis in Region Stockholm, using univariable and multivariable logistic regression models.

ObjectiveThe potential benefit of measures to prevent contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CIAKI) remains uncertain. This uncertainty is partly due to the reliance on serum creatinine, a biomarker influenced by non-renal factors such as muscle mass, hydration status, and age. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate CIAKI prevention based on cystatin C levels-a more stable and earlier biomarker of renal dysfunction, which may improve diagnostic precision and the assessment of therapeutic efficacy.

We examine how perceived automation and AI threats (the belief that advanced technology threatens humans' career prospects) shape workers' strategies for career preparation. In nine studies ( = 2,320; three preregistered), we find that perceived automation threat drives people to prioritize creative skills over technical and social skills. A pilot study revealed that people view creativity as less prone to automation and more likely to complement automation.

Background: There is little available information on the reduction of injury incidence and injury burden after strength training programs. This study aimed to analyze the effects of a 12-week high-load strength training program on injury incidence, injury burden, and fitness in young, highly trained, soccer players.
Hypothesis: It was hypothesized that well-targeted high-load training focused on the gluteal and hamstring musculature could aid in injury prevention and increase physical fitness.

As the long-term accumulation of toxic metals in food poses significant health risks to pets, there is a growing concern among people regarding toxic metal contamination in pet food. In order to investigate the toxic metals levels in pet food in China, we collected a total of 93 imported cat and dog food from the Chinese market produced in 2021-2022, comprising 45 cat food and 48 dog food, and determined the concentrations of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), mercury (Hg) and arsenic (As) in them. The concentrations of Pb, Cd and Cr were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry, while Hg and As were quantified by atomic fluorescence spectrometry.

However, his life and the outcome of his research in this field are currently little known and often misconstrued. This paper briefly presents Kardec's biography and his first steps in the investigation of psychical phenomena, especially mediumship.

Migraine is one of the most prevalent and disabling neurological diseases, significantly affecting quality of life and productivity, as well as contributing to substantial societal costs. Recent innovations, including calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) pathway inhibitors and onabotulinumtoxinA, have transformed migraine prevention by offering high efficacy and excellent tolerability, thus improving adherence. Clinical trials and real-world studies show that significant reductions in migraine frequency and, in some cases, complete migraine freedom is achievable.

Understanding motivation and impact of participation in public engagement programs is crucial for fostering dialogue between researchers and the public. Using Self-Determination Theory and Reflexive Thematic Analysis, in this study we analyzed motivation and impact on identity of researchers participating in Bright Club Ireland, a public engagement project where academic researchers learn to use stand-up comedy as an informal and accessible means of communicating their research, then perform at a public-facing variety night alongside professional comedians. Through semi-structured interviews and focus groups, we found that participation in Bright Club is largely intrinsically motivated, driven by researchers' desire to gain skills, be recognized as experts, and present their own perspectives on their disciplines.

Does the setting in which a relationship initiation attempt occurs matter to its success? Identical initiations could yield differential success if enacted in different settings. Data from five independent samples highlight the role settings play in the perception of (hypothetical) relationship initiation attempts and (expectations of) their success. Study 1a sourced a wide variety of settings for real-world relationship initiations.
