Oncocytic papillary renal cell carcinoma (OPRCC) is a new papillary renal cell carcinoma (OPRCC) added to the 2016 WHO Classification of Tumors of the Urinary and Male Reproductive System. It is a subtype of carcinoma, PRCC, which is very rare and it is very characteristic and interesting. The morphology, immunophenotype, genetic characteristics and prognosis of OPRCC are uncertain, so the diagnosis and post-operative management of OPRCC are challenging.

Background: Exenatide is a stable analogue of glucagon-like peptide 1 that can reduce postprandial hyperglycemia and has been utilized as adjunctive therapy for type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). The human umbilical cord is a rich source of MSCs, and human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSCs) also show potential to enhance insulin secretion. Here, we aimed to explore the effects of hUCMSCs carrying exenatide in T1DM and further identify the possible mechanisms involved.

Background: Gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) is a rare gastrointestinal malignancy with poor prognosis. Adequate pre-treatment prediction of survival is essential for risk stratification and patient selection for aggressive surgery or adjuvant therapeutic strategy. Whole blood cell count (WBCC) derived indexes are broadly used as prognosticative biomarkers in various cancer types, but their utility in GBC needs to be validated.

Protein phosphatase 1H (PPM1H) is the metal-dependent protein phosphatase, however, its role in tumorigenesis and tumor progression remains controversial. Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common histological type of lung cancer but the expression and clinical significance of PPM1H in NSCLC is unknown. In our study, we detected the mRNA of PPM1H in 25 pairs of NSCLC tissues and their corresponding adjacent tissues with qRT-PCR.

Although the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) has been used to predict recurrence and survival in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients, the prognostic significance of change in SII (ΔSII) is unclear for stage III NSCLC patients treated with concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). In the present study we aimed to explore the association between ΔSII and the clinical outcomes of 142 patients with stage III NSCLC treated with CCRT. A total of 142 patients were included in this retrospective study.

BACKGROUND Serine hydroxymethyltransferase (SHMT) is the enzyme that catalyzes the reversible conversion of serine to glycine and tetrahydrofolate-bound one-carbon unit. Upregulation of SHMT2 has been observed in a variety of cancers, but the expression profile and clinical value of SHMT2 in gastric cancer (GC) are still unknown. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this study, SHMT2 expression was assessed in 130 patients with GC by immunohistochemistry (IHC).

BACKGROUND Bladder cancer is the fourth most common cancer worldwide. Thyroid receptor-interacting protein 13 (TRIP13) is a member of the AAA+ ATPase family. The upregulation of TRIP13 has been shown to be involved in a few diseases, especially in cancers, but the expression and function of TRIP13 in bladder cancer is still elusive.

BACKGROUND Serine hydroxymethyltransferase 2 (SHMT2) is a key enzyme in one-carbon cell metabolism, including in liver cancer. However, the associations between SHMT2 expression at the gene and protein level and prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate the expression levels of SHMT2 in tumor tissue samples from patients with HCC and clinical outcome and the effects of silencing the expression of the SHMT2 gene in HepG2 cells.

Background/aim: The prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is very dismal and the targeted drugs of HCC are limited. Studies of HCC prognostic biomarkers have made little progress, though many new techniques such as high-throughput sequencing have been applied. FOS-like antigen 1 (FOSL1) is generally accepted as a proto-oncogene but its clinical significance in HCC has never been elucidated.

Aberrant expression of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) was reported in several types of cancers and it was demonstrated to promote tumor progression. In glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), TRAF6 depression by miRNA could decrease GBM cell resistance to temozolomide, but the prognostic values of TRAF6 and its functions in GBM progression have not been elucidated. In our study, the expression of TRAF6 and matrix metalloprotein 9 (MMP9) in 101 cases of GBM were investigated using immunohistochemistry.
