Development and validation of a nomogram for predicting 30-day outcomes in patients with unruptured vertebrobasilar dissecting aneurysms undergoing endovascular treatment: a multicenter cohort study.

Background: Endovascular treatment (EVT) of vertebrobasilar dissecting aneurysms (VBDAs) is associated with high morbidity and mortality, significantly influencing patient prognosis. This study aimed to develop and validate a nomogram for predicting 30-day outcomes in patients with unruptured VBDAs undergoing EVT.

Methods: This retrospective study included 606 patients with unruptured VBDAs who underwent EVT at 10 institutions between January 2015 and April 2025, with 491 in the training cohort and 115 in the validation cohort.

Case Report: Concurrent retinal vasculitis and optic neuritis in systemic lupus erythematosus.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem autoimmune disease that can affect the ocular system, with retinal vasculitis and optic neuritis being rare but serious manifestations. We present a case of a 26-year-old female with newly diagnosed SLE who developed both retinal vasculitis and optic neuritis, leading to progressive visual impairment. She was successfully treated with methylprednisolone and rituximab, achieving significant visual recovery.

The impact of anesthesia methods on early postoperative cognitive function in Moyamoya disease patients after vascular bypass surgery.

Moyamoya disease (MMD) patients often experience cognitive dysfunction following vascular bypass surgery, with anesthesia potentially influencing recovery. This study aims to evaluate the effects of IVA and combined intravenous and inhalational anesthesia (CIA) on cognitive recovery in MMD patients and explore influencing factors. We included 120 MMD patients who underwent vascular bypass surgery from January 1, 2021, to January 31, 2023.

Atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcoma of the breast: A rare case report.

Rationale: Liposarcoma, the most common type of soft tissue sarcoma, typically occurs in the deep soft tissues of the limbs and retroperitoneum and is rarely found in the breast. The fifth edition of the World Health Organization classifies it into 5 distinct histological subtypes. Given the rarity of liposarcomas in breast tissue, there remain certain challenges in diagnosis and treatment planning.

Lateral approach for total knee arthroplasty in patients with valgus deformity: A step-by-step surgical technique.

Background: The lateral approach in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is indicated primarily for patients with valgus knee deformity, as it allows direct access to the lateral anatomy and systematic correction of associated pathologies.

Surgical Technique: This technique involves strategic lateral soft tissue releases, which improve exposure to the posterolateral corner, enhance tibial rotation, and support patellar alignment without compromising medial vascularity or requiring a tibial tubercle osteotomy for joint exposure. Critical steps in the lateral TKA approach include maintaining a capsular-synovial overlap and preserving the Hoffa fat pad for optimal joint closure, releasing the lateral soft-tissue structures, and using a contralateral tibial cutting guide for enhanced access and protection of the patellar tendon.

The association of the systemic inflammation response index with the prognosis of primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma after surgical resection.

Primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma (PRPLS) is a rare malignancy with a high risk of recurrence and poor prognosis. To evaluate the prognostic value of the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) in patients with PRPLS undergoing curative-intent surgical resection and to compare its predictive performance with other inflammatory markers. This retrospective study included 122 patients with pathologically confirmed PRPLS who underwent surgical resection at Peking University International Hospital between January 2021 and January 2024.

Decreased renal or cerebral oxygen saturation increases the risk of cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury in adult patients: a prospective observational study.

Objective: To determine the relationship between intraoperative decreased renal and cerebral oxygen saturation, as measured using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), and cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI) in adults.

Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted at Peking University International Hospital. Between November 2022 to August 2023, 101 adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass were included.

Deep learning-based quantitative assessment of renal chronicity indices in lupus nephritis.

Renal chronicity indices (CI) have been identified as strong predictors of long-term outcomes in lupus nephritis (LN) patients. However, assessment by pathologists is hindered by challenges such as substantial time requirements, high interobserver variation, and susceptibility to fatigue. This study aims to develop an effective deep learning (DL) pipeline that automates the assessment of CI and provides valuable prognostic insights from a disease-specific perspective.

C57BL/6J mice were subjected to a high-fat diet (HFD), and human valve interstitial cells (VICs) were induced with the osteogenic medium (OM) for modeling.

Case Report: Bilateral adrenal hemorrhage in a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus and antiphospholipid syndrome.

This case report describes a rare and life-threatening complication of bilateral adrenal hemorrhage (AH) in a 15-year-old female with overlapping systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). The patient presented with prolonged abdominal pain, low-grade fever, and lower limb pain. Imaging revealed bilateral adrenal hemorrhages, while laboratory investigations confirmed triple-positive antiphospholipid antibodies (ACA-IgG, ACA-IgM, anti-β2 glycoprotein I) and SLE-related serological markers.

Recurrent Checkpoint Inhibitor-Related Pneumonitis Refractory to Corticosteroid Treatment: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are antibodies that activate the immune system to kill tumor cells and have been widely used in oncology. However, dysregulated immune activation may result in the attack of normal tissues and organs, leading to immune-related adverse events (irAEs). Corticosteroid-refractory irAE pneumonitis severely threatens patient survival and is characterized by a lack of high-level evidence-based management guidelines, highlighting the need for increased scrutiny in this area.

Clinical features and therapeutic challenges of psoriatic arthritis coexisting with antisynthetase syndrome: a case report and literature review.

Objective: The coexistence of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) with inflammatory myopathies, including antisynthetase syndrome (ASS), is exceptionally rare and presents significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. This study reports a case of PsA overlapping with ASS and reviews the literature to analyze clinical features, immunopathogenesis, and treatment strategies.

Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the natural history of deep-seated brain arteriovenous malformation (AVMs), as well as the risk-benefit outcomes of interventional treatment versus conservative management.

Materials & Methods: Patients with deep-seated AVMs were selected from a nationwide prospective multicenter registry study in China (the MATCH study), and univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to identify factors associated with AVM rupture. In the analysis of outcomes, propensity score matching (PSM) was performed between the interventional and conservative treatment groups, adjusting for baseline differences.

Background: Linaclotide and plecanatide, as guanylate cyclase-C agonists, are effective treatments for irritable bowel syndrome with constipation and chronic idiopathic constipation. While their therapeutic benefits are well-established, the potential association between these drugs and the adverse reaction of muscle spasms remains understudied and controversial.

Methods: A single-blind randomised controlled trial was conducted from June 2022 to November 2024, including 364 patients aged 45-80 years diagnosed with ischemic stroke. Participants were randomly divided into two groups: Group A (n=193) received standard stroke rehabilitation therapy, while Group B (n=171) received additional antioxidant support.

Granulomatous Mastitis with Erythema Nodosum and Erysipelas-like Lesions: Expanding the GMENA Syndrome.

Granulomatous mastitis (GM) is a rare, benign inflammatory breast condition that occasionally presents with systemic features such as erythema nodosum (EN) and arthritis, collectively termed GMENA syndrome. We report a unique case of a 32-year-old woman with GM, EN, and an erysipelas-like skin lesion (ELL) in the absence of arthritis. Despite antibiotic therapy, her condition deteriorated with persistent fever and elevated inflammatory markers.

Induction immunochemotherapy followed by definitive chemoradiotherapy and consolidation immunotherapy for unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer: a multi-institutional retrospective cohort study.

Background: For unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the standard regimen is definitive concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) followed by consolidation immunotherapy. We investigated whether incorporating induction immunochemotherapy enhances the efficacy.

Materials And Methods: From June 2018 to December 2022, 294 patients with unresectable stage III NSCLC were included, who did (162, I-CRT-I group) or did not (132, CRT-I group) receive induction immunochemotherapy, followed by definitive CRT and consolidation immunotherapy.
