Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) remains a therapeutic challenge despite recent immunotherapy advances. We identified ENPP3 and SIRPα as significantly overexpressed in RCC tissues with positive correlation and prognostic relevance. Based on these findings, we developed a novel bispecific antibody simultaneously targeting tumor-associated ENPP3 and macrophage checkpoint SIRPα.

However, there are several challenges and difficulties that limit their application in clinical settings. Short-term effects of extreme air pollutant concentrations on coronary heart disease hospitalization in Henan province: a time-stratified case-crossover study.

Introduction: Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a leading cause of cardiovascular mortality, with air pollution serving as a significant risk factor. Henan Province, characterized by both a high incidence of CHD and severe air pollution, faces substantial health and economic challenges. However, limited research has explored the relationship between air pollution and CHD in this region.

Gastric cancer of young adults is poorly differentiated and has a poor prognosis. However, there are few reports regarding the genetic alteration in gastric cancer of young adults. Bioinformatics methods were used to screen the key genes and signaling pathways of gastric cancer in young adults, and molecular biology techniques were used to verify the key proteins involved in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer in young adults.

Development of a questionnaire to evaluate the management of gestational diabetes mellitus patients among obstetric nurses.

Background: The role of obstetric nurses in the management of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is becoming increasingly important, and their management level will directly affect the patient's health education and even the pregnancy outcome. However, there is a lack of tools to measure the competencies of GDM management among obstetric nurses.

Methods: The questionnaire was developed in two stages: (a) creation of an initial questionnaire based on the definition of competency, literature review, and semi-structured interviews, followed by two rounds of Delphi expert inquiry; (b) evaluation of the questionnaire via piloting study on 30 obstetric nurses and testing of validity and reliability on 239 obstetric nurses.

Background: 8MW0511 is a novel, long-acting recombinant human granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) produced by the fusion of the N-terminus of highly active modified G-CSF with the C-terminus of human serum albumin (HSA). Current G-CSF treatments require frequent administration and have limitations in efficacy and convenience, highlighting the need for a longer-acting alternative with fewer injections and improved outcomes. Here, we report a phase III study comparing the efficacy and safety of 8MW0511 with those of the approved PEG-rhG-CSF.

Focusing on Rare Variants Related to Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young in Children.

In this study, we analysed the clinical and genetic characteristics and follow-up data of patients with maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY). From January 2015 to December 2022, patients with persistent hyperglycaemia suspected of having monogenic diabetes or diabetes syndrome were recruited, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) was performed at the Shanghai Children's Medical Center. Patients' clinical and laboratory findings were recorded preceding follow-ups.

Background: Miller Fisher syndrome (MFS) is a rare triad of ophthalmoplegia, ataxia, and areflexia. There have been few reports of acute angle-closure glaucoma induced by MFS in the literature. However, acute elevation of intraocular pressure in open angle glaucoma induced by MFS has not been reported.

Background: Epidemiological studies have found an association between air pollution and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases (CACD) and its subtypes. However, there is a lack of individual-level data to explore the associations of air pollutants on CACD and its subtypes, the interaction among them, and the potential mechanism.

Development and validation of a predictive model for the risk of possible sarcopenia in middle-aged and older adult diabetes mellitus in China.

Background: People with diabetes mellitus (DM) have a significantly increased risk of sarcopenia. A cross-sectional analysis was performed using nationally representative data to evaluate possible sarcopenia in middle-aged and older adults with diabetes mellitus, and to develop and validate a prediction model suitable for possible sarcopenia in middle-aged and older adults with diabetes mellitus in the Chinese community.

Methods: Data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), which focuses on people 45 years of age or older, served as the basis for the prediction model.

Background: Circulating immune cells reportedly affect diabetic neuropathy (DN). Although associations have been previously established between numerous biomarkers and diseases, elucidating their causal relationships remains challenging. Mendelian Randomization (MR) could overcome this difficulty by applying genetic instruments to discern causal links.

Immunotherapy holds promise for cancer treatment, but its efficacy in solid tumors is often limited by the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). Macrophages, abundant within the TME, can be reprogrammed to elicit anti-tumor immunity. We developed a novel bispecific antibody, ALPPL2-CD89, to specifically target and activate macrophages within the tumor.

Janus-Structured Micro/Nanomotors: Self-Propelled Mechanisms and Biomedical Applications.

Self-propelled micro/nanomotors (MNMs), which can convert other energy into mechanical motion, have attracted considerable attention due to their potential applications in diverse fields. Due to the asymmetric structures and 2 or more chemically discrepant composites constructed in the Janus nanoparticles, asymmetrical forces can be created in the physical environment. Thus, MNMs with Janus structures have been widely studied for revealing possible driving mechanisms.

Understanding metabolic characteristics and molecular mechanisms of large to giant congenital melanocytic nevi: implications for melanoma risk and therapeutic targets.

Large to giant congenital melanocytic nevi (LGCMN) present clinical challenges due to their complex phenotypic heterogeneity and increased melanoma risk. Molecular-level research is essential for understanding the pathogenic mechanisms of LGCMN and identifying potential therapeutic targets. Tissue samples from 67 LGCMN lesions and 49 matched controls were analyzed using metabolomics and transcriptomics to identify metabolic characteristics and gene expression differences.

Role of SMOC2 in adenomyosis: implications for ECM remodeling and EMT pathogenesis.

Background: Adenomyosis is a common gynecological disorder characterized by the invasion of endometrial tissue into the myometrium, resulting in severe dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia. This study aimed to explore the role of SMOC2 (SPARC related modular calcium binding 2), an extracellular matrix (ECM) -associated protein, in the pathogenesis of adenomyosis and its potential as a therapeutic target.

Methods: We conducted a clinical study involving 35 patients diagnosed with adenomyosis and 30 controls.

Angiopoietin-Like 3 Antibody Therapy in Patients With Suboptimally Controlled Hyperlipidemia: A Phase 2 Study.

Background: Angiopoietin-like 3 (ANGPTL-3) inhibits the activity of lipoprotein lipase and endothelial lipase, increasing both serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and triglyceride (TG) levels. SHR-1918 is a fully human monoclonal antibody against ANGPTL-3.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the lipid-altering efficacy and safety of SHR-1918 in patients at moderate or higher risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) with suboptimally controlled hyperlipidemia.

Comparable survival outcomes in HLA-Matched and haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for severe aplastic anemia patients aged 40-50: A CBMTR Registry-based propensity score matching analysis over the last decade.

Our study includes 278 patients aged between 40 and 50 years from 29 centers who received allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) from matched sibling donors (MSDs) (n = 106) and haploidentical donors (HIDs) (n = 172) over the last decade. Univariate analysis revealed that HID recipients was associated with more serious disease severity, a delayed allo-HSCT after diagnosis, a higher pretransplant transfusion burden and poor performance status pre-transplant than MSD recipients in clinical settings. After these pretransplant clinical factors were well balanced following propensity score-matching (PSM), 80 matched pairs were selected for further analysis.

In this investigator-initiated, prospective, exploratory study, biomarkers predictive of clinical outcomes of first-line immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI, nivolumab or pembrolizumab) plus XELOX(oxaliplatin and capecitabine) were identified in human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative patients with metastatic esophagogastric signet ring cell carcinoma. The findings showed an objective response rate (ORR) of 51.5% and a disease control rate of 86.
