The non-insulin-based metabolic score for insulin resistance (METS-IR) is a recently developed index aimed at being a practical and efficient alternative biomarker of insulin resistance (IR). This study aimed to investigate the association between METS-IR in euthyroid women in the first trimester of pregnancy and pregnancy outcomes. A total of 1810 participants who gave birth at Fujian Maternity and Child Health Hospital from November 2018 to November 2019 were included in this study.

Background: Haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (haplo-HSCT) offers curative potential for hematologic malignancies but is often limited by high incidences of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), delayed engraftment, and transplant-related mortality-especially when donors are aged ≥40 years. Umbilical cord blood (UCB) infusion may mitigate these risks by promoting immune tolerance and hematopoietic recovery. However, the efficacy of this strategy in the context of older donors remains insufficiently studied.

The regulation of droplet dynamics based on external electric fields and bioinspired functional surfaces has widespread applications in various fields. However, research on the coupling of these two factors to enhance oil-water separation efficiency is urgently needed. In this study, laser-induced and solvent treatment techniques were coupled to assemble a micronano setal and bioinspired beetle elytra textured substrate with the lotus effect, A "top conductive, bottom insulating" Desert beetle elytra micronano tuft composite texture (DBE) biomimetic superhydrophobic surface was fabricated.

Turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) is one of the most widely species that boasts high economic value in the aquaculture industry. In spite of the exponential growth of aquaculture, infectious bacterial diseases have caused great economic losses in turbot industry. This study isolated and identified a strain of Pseudomonas putida, denoted as DY16, and it is a conditionally pathogenic bacterium, therefore we conducted the following research on it.

The closely related cytokines Interleukin-4 (IL-4) and IL-13 regulate the Th2 immune response by interacting with their specific receptor complexes. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) modulate various biological pathways through mechanisms that either repress mRNA translation or promote messenger RNA degradation. The miRNA miR-126b is implicated in fish embryonic development.

As a member of the inflammatory caspases, Caspase-1 can increase the host inflammatory response against pathogen invasion and also function dominantly in apoptosis. In this study, we cloned and obtained two transcripts of Caspase-1 in large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea), namely Lc-Caspase-1_tv1 and Lc-Caspase-1_tv2. The ORF of Lc-Caspase-1_tv1 is 1,239 bp, whereas Lc-Caspase-1_tv2 is 1,167 bp in length, encoding a protein of 412 and 388 aa, and both of which contains a CARD and a CASc domain.

One of the key innate immune pathways in invertebrates is the immune deficiency (IMD) signaling pathway, which effectively combats Gram-negative bacterial infections. In insects, the IMD pathway is involved in the defense against certain viral infections. However, the functional role of the IMD pathway in antiviral immunity remains incompletely characterized in crustaceans.

The cAMP response element modulator (CREM) is a regulatory transcription factor downstream of cAMP signaling, functioning either as a transcriptional activator or repressor in regulating the proliferation and differentiation of immune cells. In the present study, CgCREM with a conserved pKID domain and a BRLZ domain was identified from Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas. The mRNA transcripts of CgCREM were found to be highly expressed in embryonic stages, especially in the blastula and trochophore.

T-type calcium channels are pivotal in spermatogenesis. To evaluate the molecular mechanisms by which T-type calcium channels regulate spermatogenesis, we constructed animal and cellular models using T-type calcium channel inhibitor flunarizine (FNZ). Intraperitoneal administration of FNZ (30mg/kg) significantly impaired sperm motility, inhibited testicular germ cell proliferation, and disrupted sperm mitochondrial function in male mice.

This study aimed to investigate the protective mechanism of Ginsenoside Rg3 (Rg3) against Di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) induced spermatogenic damage, focusing on the Src/PI3K/Akt pathway. In vivo experiments demonstrated that Rg3 restored DBP-induced dysregulation of gap junction (GJ) protein connexin 43 (Cx43), improved testicular structure, enhanced sperm parameters (count and motility), and upregulated phosphorylation of Src, PI3K, and Akt (p-Src, p-PI3K, p-Akt) in mice. In vitro studies, using the metabolite of DBP, monobutyl phthalate (MBP), and pathway inhibitors (PP2 for Src and LY294002 for PI3K), further confirmed these effects.

Rapid alkalinization factors (RALFs) are cysteine-rich signaling peptides in plants that play critical roles in development, immune regulation, and responses to abiotic stress. Despite their importance, the functional characterization of RALF family members in Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum), a nutrient-rich crop known for its remarkable resilience to multiple stresses, remains largely unexplored. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive genome-wide analysis to identify and characterize the FtRALF gene family in Tartary buckwheat, examining their phylogenetic relationships, gene structures, and duplication events.

General anesthetics are essential in pediatric medicine, yet concerns persist regarding their potential neurotoxic effects on the developing brain. Whether transient synaptic disruptions caused by anesthesia lead to long-term deficits or are mitigated by endogenous plasticity remains unresolved. Here, we use longitudinal in vivo two-photon imaging in awake mice to investigate the structural and functional consequences of a single, clinically relevant exposure to sevoflurane at postnatal day 20.

Traditionally, oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) were primarily regarded for their differentiation potential to mature oligodendrocytes that ensheath central nervous system (CNS) axons through myelin formation. Recent breakthroughs in single-cell sequencing and in vivo imaging technologies have revolutionized our understanding, revealing that OPCs engage in extensive dynamic interactions with diverse CNS cell populations during neurodevelopment, tissue homeostasis maintenance, and pathological microenvironment remodeling. Notably, while OPCs exhibit relatively conserved phenotypic signatures, their functional plasticity within heterogeneous microenvironments demonstrates significant spatial specificity and disease-context dependence.
