Background: Disturbances in lipid metabolism are usually associated with hyperlipidemia, which is commonly observed in donkeys with inappetence or anorexia. The diagnostic utility of ultrasound measurements of croup fat thickness (CFT) and relative liver echogenicity for lipomobilization in donkeys with fasting-induced hyperlipidemia was investigated. A prospective observational control study involving 25 donkeys was conducted, and the animals were randomly assigned to a fasting group (FG, n = 20) and a control group (CG, n = 5).

Objectives: To describe a rare case of transplantation-mediated alloimmune thrombocytopenia (TMAT) following liver transplantation from a donor with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), and to contextualize findings within the literature.

Methods: We reviewed the clinical course of a 63-year-old man with hepatitis C cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma who underwent orthotopic liver transplantation from a donor with severe thrombocytopenia consistent with ITP. Clinical, laboratory, and bone marrow findings were analyzed, and alternative causes of thrombocytopenia were excluded.

Nitazoxanide (NTZ), an FDA-approved drug, served as the framework for synthesizing 22 new broad-spectrum antimicrobial agents from 4-aminosalicylic acid via protection-deprotection, Staudinger reduction, Clauson-Kaas pyrrole synthesis, and nucleophilic substitution. These compounds were evaluated for antibacterial, antimycobacterial, and antitrypanosomal activities. Several compounds, particularly 10, 11, 13, and 22, surpassed the antibacterial activity of NTZ and its active metabolite tizoxanide (TIZ) against all tested pathogens, with MICs ranging from 1.

Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, College of Pharmacy, Qassim University, Buraidah 51452, Saudi Arabia; Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University, Mansoura 35516, Egypt. Electronic address:

This study introduces a novel dual-sensitive drug delivery system, gelatin-coated chitosan microparticles (GL-ChMPs), designed to enhance the lung targeting and therapeutic efficacy of semaglutide (SEM). GL-ChMPs were designed to respond to the acidic environment and metalloproteinases, conditions that are typical in pulmonary fibrosis. SEM-GL-ChMPs exhibited superior lung targeting and prolonged retention while minimizing systemic distribution.

Soil contamination with salinity and heavy metals such as cadmium (Cd) is becoming a serious global problem due to the rapid development of the social economy. Although plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria PGPR and organic agents such as salicylic acid (SA) are considered major protectants to alleviate abiotic stresses, the study of these bacteria and organic acids to ameliorate the toxic effects of salinity and Cd remains limited. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the individual and combined effects of PGPR and SA on enhancing the phytoremediation of salinity (100 mM NaCl) and Cd (50 µM CdCl₂) using rice ( L.

Medical Microbiology and Immunology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt; Department of Basic Medical Sciences, Faculty of Oral & Dental Medicine, Badr University in Assiut (BUA), Egypt. Electronic address:

Background And Aim: The role of the programmed cell death protein-1/programmed death ligand-1 (PD-1/PD-L1) axis in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia (PE) is currently a subject of research interest. This work aimed to characterize different B cell subsets and their PD-1 expression levels in 54 PE patients compared with 21 age-matched women having normal, uncomplicated pregnancies of comparable gestational age. Also, to evaluate the possibility of a relation between the levels of these subsets with disease severity and the antihypertensive therapy.

In close proximity to quantum emitters (QEs), plasmonic nanoparticles (NPs) facilitate energy exchange with the QEs, which is known as plasmon-exciton coupling. The strong coupling regime, associated with Rabi splitting, is crucial for advanced nanophotonic devices, including solar cells, single-photon nonlinear optics, and nanolasers. Recently, high refractive index semiconductor NPs (typically Si NPs) have emerged for designing strongly coupled systems.
