We present here a chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed asymmetric Doyle indolization enabling efficient construction of axially chiral indolizinylindoles with stable C-N stereogenic axes. Importantly, this intriguing cascade cyclization realized the highly enantioselective synthesis of axially chiral quarteraryl skeletons containing two contiguous stereogenic axes in good to high yields and excellent stereoselectivities. Furthermore, an atropo-divergent synthesis was achieved via switching the 3,3'-substituents of the CPA catalyst.

This study analyzed the legal obstacles on the access to assisted reproductive technology (ART) by single women in mainland China, focusing on the period from 2001 to 2024, and reassessed the Chinese regulatory framework. The study employed legal text data sourced from the PKU Law database, and the case data from the China Judgments Online. Results revealed that the Chinese prevailing legislative framework prohibits single women to use ART and the courts oppose egg freezing for this group too, which creating regulatory obstacles to their reproductive rights.

Biological glue (bioglue) can noninvasively seal and reattach wound tissue outside the hospital, which has been extensively studied recently. Nevertheless, the commercial bioglue lacks constant oxygen supply, antioxidation, and anti-inflammation, three other key factors for bacteria-infected wound healing in plateau areas. Herein, a multifunctional bioglue (LA-DESP/ε-PLL@) is simply fabricated by encapsulating into a matrix composed of α-lipoic acid (LA), α-lipoic acid sodium (LANa), and ε-polylysine (ε-PLL).

Doping in transition metal sulfides can effectively induce lattice distortion and introduce asymmetry, thereby lowering the energy required to overcome the rate-controlling step in the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). This work presents a simple hydrothermal synthesis strategy combined with vapor-phase vulcanization to prepare iron and manganese dual-doped NiS/NiS nanoflowers with a heterogeneous interface, directly supported on nickel foam (NF). In this approach, NF was adopted not only as a self-supporting conductive substrate but also as the nickel source for the composite.

Mesostructured materials are considered to be promising candidates for use in high-performance secondary batteries due to their specific properties, which are beneficial for electrochemical redox and ion diffusion; however, the synergistic mechanism is still unclear, and a general preparation approach is highly needed. Here, we report a mesostructured nitrogen-doped CoNiSe as a high-performance sodium-ion battery anode derived from room-temperature-synthesized CoNi-metal organic frameworks, and in-depth insight into the synergistic effect during charge-discharge is demonstrated. The mesostructure provides three-dimensional ion transport channels, which are conducive to the stable insertion/extraction of Na ions.

PM and O are two major issues hindering air quality improvement in China. However, the response of these two pollutants to anthropogenic emission variations in the real atmosphere was not yet well understood. Here, we selected the short-term epidemic lockdown in Wuhu in 2022 as a case study and evaluated the impacts of meteorology and anthropogenic emission on PM and O using field observations combined with machine learning algorithms.

Organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have emerged as a highly promising renewable energy technology due to their solution-processability, mechanical flexibility, and potential for low-cost manufacturing. Despite remarkable progress, further improving the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) remains a critical challenge for their commercial applications. The incorporation of medium-bandgap non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs) as third components in ternary OPV devices has proven particularly effective in enhancing device performance.

Heat wave and ozone (O) pollution events are increasingly co-occurring in the context of climate change, especially in China. However, the effects of compound exposure to both hazards on cause-specific cardiopulmonary mortality remain largely unclear. In this study, we conducted a space-time-stratified case-crossover study of 550,634 township-level cardiopulmonary deaths in Anhui Province, China, from 2013 to 2021 to systematically evaluate the associations of exposure to heat wave and O pollution with multi-cause cardiopulmonary mortality and quantify their interactive effects Under various definitions, the odds ratios (ORs) of cardiopulmonary mortality associated with heat wave-only events, O pollution-only events, and compound events exposure ranged from 1.

Alzheimer's disease (AD), involving amyloid-β (Aβ) aggregation, has potential therapeutic modulators in polyoxometalates (POMs) like [PMoO]. To clarify their inhibitory mechanisms, a multiscale computational strategy integrating active-learning Bayesian Optimization (BO) and density functional theory (DFT) is employed to explore low-energy configurations of isolated amino acids, [PMoO] -amino acid complexes, and [PMoO] -peptide systems. Hydrogen bonding and Coulombic repulsion dominate adsorption stability.

Nanoplastics (NPs) possess adsorptive properties and can interact with pollutants such as heavy metals, raising concerns about their toxicological effects on aquatic organisms. However, systematic evaluations of the mechanisms underlying the impact of these pollutants on crustaceans are limited. To investigate the combined toxicological effects of NPs and copper (Cu), Eriocheir sinensis were exposed to 0.

The photocage, an advanced platform for drug delivery and photoactivation imaging, has attracted wide attention in biomedicine. Despite recent advancements in shifting irradiation wavelengths to visible and near-infrared light, improving photolysis quantum yield and the corresponding uncaging cross section, key parameters for efficient photocages, remains highly challenging. Here, we address this challenge by introducing light-controlled COO-B bond cleavage from tetracoordinate boron linked to dipyrrin, aryl, and carboxylic acid groups.

The quantum efficiency ceiling of triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion is intrinsically governed by the spin statistical factor (f), yet the physical origin of its anomalously elevated values (f > 0.6) remains a subject of intense debate. By conducting systematic variable-temperature kinetic studies, integrating time-resolved transient absorption spectroscopy with steady-state fluorescence spectral analysis, we elucidated the temperature-dependent reaction dynamics of the benchmark PtOEP/DPA system to investigate the interaction between f and high-energy excited-state (T2) decay pathways.

Anatoxin-a (ATX-a) is a potent neurotoxin produced by cyanobacteria, with growing evidence unequivocally linking it to acute aquatic toxicity, neurological impairment, and increased mortality in wildlife and livestock, highlighting its significant threat to ecosystem stability and public health. Here, we report a novel fluorescent aptasensor system (FAS) that integrates novel DNA-functionalized Eu nanoparticles (DNA-Eu NPs) with a catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) strategy for ultrasensitive ATX-a detection.
