To investigate the effect of body size on muscle quality of common carp ( L.), we systematically tracked the dynamic changes in nutrient content, texture, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) among small-sized (~100 g), medium-sized (~250 g), and large-sized (~600 g) fish (SYRC, MYRC, and HYRC, respectively) over a 30-week feeding trial. The results indicated that the HYRC showed significantly reduced moisture and lipid content, along with increased protein content, hydroxyproline, hardness, and chewiness compared to the SYRC ( < 0.

This study evaluated the LC-PUFA biosynthetic capacity in male and female tilapia fed two distinct diets-perilla oil (rich in α-linolenic acid, ALA) and peanut oil (rich in linoleic acid, LA)-over 24 weeks, spanning four growth stages (I-IV, from fry to adult). The results revealed that during stages I to III, both diets produced similar final body weights.

This study investigated the fatty acid composition and -2 positional distribution of triacylglycerols (TAG), as well as the composition of major phospholipids in golden pompano () juveniles (initial weight: 10 g) fed five diets including graded levels of dietary n-3 highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA; 0.64-2.

Groups of juvenile fish were reared initially in freshwater (FW, 0 ppt) or seawater (SW, 32 ppt) and fed diets containing either LC-PUFA-rich fish oil (FO) or rapeseed oil (VO) that lacks LC-PUFA, but is rich in C18 PUFA.

As a source of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), the diagnostic value of CP enlargement in idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is unknown.
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of CP and CSF space volumes in iNPH.
Background: There is a growing body of research regarding the potential reproductive toxicity of microplastics and nanoplastics. However, the underlying mechanisms by which nanoplastics exposure adversely affects the testes remain poorly understood. Our study aims to clarify the relationship between ferritinophagy and mitochondrial dysfunction based on polystyrene nanoplastics (PS-NPs)-caused testicular damage in mice.

P-Hydroxycinnamic acid (PCA), a natural phenolic compound, exhibits multifaceted biological activities, including antioxidant and metabolic regulatory properties in mammals, whereas its role in fish is rarely reported. To investigate whether PCA can alleviate the negative effects caused by high-fat diets on fish liver health and disease resistance, here we used zebrafish as experimental animals. In this study, six zebrafish diets, including basal diet, high-fat diet (HFD), and HFD supplemented with PCA at 500, 1000, 1500, or 2500 mg/kg and assigned as CK, HFD, PCA0.

Present study aims to verify the role of GRP and GRPR in regulating the growth of ovarian follicles in chickens in vitro. GRPR was found to be highly expressed in granulosa cells of early follicles (1-6 mm), but shows barely detectable expression in theca cells.

It remains a problem to efficiently improve the boar sperm quality of liquid storage due to reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation. To reduce the effects of ROS on boar sperm, in this study, 1 μg/mL zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) was added into the extender of boar semen during liquid storage at 4°C and 17°C for 7 days. The finding revealed that sperm motility, viability, plasma membrane integrity (PMI) and acrosome integrity significantly increased when compared with the control group ( ˂ 0.

Its pathophysiological mechanism is believed to be related to the imbalance of CSF circulation and homeostasis. As the main source of CSF secretion, the choroid plexus is closely related to hydrocephalus.

Three diets (D1-D3) were formulated: D1 used only fish oil, D2 blended fish, rapeseed oil, and palm oil, and D3 combined fish and soybean oils. Fish in the D1 group showed the highest weight gain, specific growth rate, and muscle protein content, significantly outperforming D3.

Background And Aims: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common metabolic disorder worldwide, with an increasing incidence in recent years. While previous studies have suggested an association between the air pollutant PM2.5 and NAFLD, there is still considerable debate regarding the existence of a clear causal relationship between air pollution and NAFLD.

Inappropriate substitution of dietary fishmeal (FM) can adversely affect the growth, health, and metabolism of carnivorous fish species. To effectively reduce the amount of dietary FM in carnivorous largemouth bass (), a terrestrial compound protein (Cpro) with chicken meal, bone meal, and black soldier fly protein was used to formulate four isoproteic (52%) and isolipidic (12%) diets, namely T1 (36% FM), T2 (30% FM), T3 (24% FM), and T4 (18% FM), for feeding juveniles (initial weight: ~12 g) for 81 days. Results indicated that the growth performance, feed efficiency, and morphological indicators, as well as muscle texture and edible quality of fish, did not differ significantly among the four groups.
