Background: We aimed to externally validate and modify the acute chest pain triage assessment model in the emergency department, for identifying high-risk patients and exploring the interrelationships with triage criteria, to guide medical staff to quickly and effectively triage and grade patients with chest pain.
Methods: In a prospective observational study, a total of 316 patients with chest pain were included, and the performance of the modified acute chest pain triage assessment model was compared with the original model, HEART Pathway, EDACS, and the commonly used scores for critically ill patients (MEWS, NEWS). The goodness of fit and discrimination were assessed for model performances.
Vibrio vulnificus (V. vulnificus), a highly pathogenic opportunistic marine bacterium, causes severe wound infections with high amputation rates and mortality. Current therapies show limited efficacy against advanced infections.

The dense three-dimensional structure of the extracellular polymeric substances matrix (EPS) is a key factor contributing to the challenge of eradicating biofilm-associated infections. Therefore, in this study, ultrasmall cobalt selenide nanoparticles (CoSe NPs) were synthesized and modified with dextran (Dex), successfully obtaining dextran-functionalized cobalt selenide nanoparticles (Dex@CoSe NPs).

Previous studies have used machine learning (ML) algorithms without focusing on disorder-specific characteristics to independently classify SCZ and MDD. This study aimed to classify MDD and SCZ using ML models that integrate components of hedonic processing.

Methods: A total of 218 patients after cerebral hemorrhage surgery were selected, and the differences in clinical data between kinesophobia patients and non-kinesophobia patients were analyzed. Using 20 indexes as independent variables, the characteristic variables were screened by LASSO regression, and then multivariate Logistic regression analysis was carried out.
The present study utilized a person-centered approach to identify profiles of prenatal readiness for parenthood among a sample of 126 unmarried Black American fathers living in the southeastern United States. Further, prenatal readiness for fatherhood profiles were examined as predictors of distal outcomes of both paternal engagement in early infancy and socioemotional competence in toddlerhood. Expectant fathers reported prenatally on a series of intrapersonal, relational, and contextual variables indicative of their preparation for fatherhood.

In this study, we performed 16S rRNA sequencing of gut contents from young, old, and old exercise C57BL/6J mice to assess exercise-induced alterations in microbiota community structure. Differential taxa analyses were applied to reveal age-associated bacterial signatures, gut barrier integrity, and systemic inflammation.

The stress-inducible protein, SESN2 is a mediator of aerobic training benefits. However, whether SESN2 mediates resistance training to promote skeletal muscle hypertrophy and energy metabolism remains elusive.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the associations between alcohol intake and liver-related events (LREs) across different drinking categories and whether genetic predisposition influences these associations.
Methods: Data from 301,673 UK Biobank participants were analyzed.
Background: Public health issues arising from excessive online gaming have garnered significant research interest. Existing studies indicate that, within the framework of the dual-systems theory, the equilibrium between the goal-directed and habitual control systems is disrupted in patients with Internet gaming disorder (IGD). Nevertheless, the understanding of how this imbalance manifests within the brain is limited.

This study investigates the therapeutic potential of myriocin (Myr), a sphingolipid synthesis inhibitor, in counteracting dAGE-induced obesity and its underlying mechanisms. : Male C57BL/6J wild-type mice were randomly assigned to receive either a low-AGE diet or a high-AGE diet with or without the administration of myriocin for a duration of 24 weeks.

To investigate this, we analyzed 152 esophageal cancer and 11 normal esophageal tissue samples, identifying basement membrane-related prognostic signatures through differential gene expression profiling and Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator regression. A six-gene panel (LAMC2, GPC2, AGRN, ITGA3, LAMA3, and LOXL4) demonstrated robust predictive capacity, which we subsequently integrated with clinical features via nomogram modeling to predict overall survival.

Methods: Between January and December 2023, 200 participants were recruited from the Department of Endocrinology of Hefei First People's Hospital. Baseline data collected included medical history, fasting blood glucose, HbA1c, liver and kidney function, lipid profiles, IL-1β, TNF-α, sVCAM-1 level, and the urinary albumin-creatinine ratio (uACR).

A total of 127 patients, aged 18-60 years, with ASA class I-II, undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction via knee arthroscopy under general anesthesia with laryngeal mask airway intubation, were selected. These patients were randomly divided into three groups: Group C (43 cases), Group N (41 cases), and Group N (43 cases).

This study aims to determine whether the PHR can identify individuals at high risk for heart disease events, with a particular focus on middle-aged and elderly Chinese individuals.
Methods: The retrospective cohort study encompassed 7188 middle-aged and elderly participants (>45 years) sourced from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) database.
Distylium chinense has strong ecological adaptability and high ornamental value, which should have broad application prospects in urban landscaping. However, its low cutting rooting rate and slow rooting speed, as well as limited varietal numbers, have hindered its promotion and application in landscape. This study aims to reveal the development characteristics of adventitious roots (AR) and the regulation mechanism of endogenous hormones during the cutting propagation.

Kinesin motors transport cargoes along microtubules inside of cells. Although it is well known that the cargoes are typically carried by multiple kinesins and that the more motors used, the further the cargoes travel, it has been challenging to determine the number of motors moving a cargo and any instant. Further, there is no unified statement on the relationship between cargo velocity and motor number, especially in the presence of a very crowded cytoplasmic environment.

Background And Aims: Regarding the effects of coffee intake on the prognosis of the general population and people with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases (CVD), previous studies have shown inconsistent conclusions in different populations. There is no study on the association between coffee intake and the prognosis of American adults and specific disease groups.
Methods And Results: The influence of coffee intake on 5-year all-cause mortality was investigated by multivariate COX regression and Kaplan‒Meier curves.
Background: Acute non-traumatic chest pain is one of the common complaints in the emergency department and is closely associated with fatal disease. Triage assessment urgently requires the use of simple, rapid tools to screen patients with chest pain for high-risk condition to improve patient outcomes.
Methods: After data preprocessing and feature selection, univariate and multiple logistic regression analyses were performed to identify potential predictors associated with acute non-traumatic chest pain.
Polyphenols are known to interact with starch to form the V-type inclusion complex or the noninclusive complex. It is hypothesized that the addition of polyphenols could improve the properties of Chinese yam (Dioscorea opposita Thunb.) starch, and the properties of the complexes could be regulated by controlling the additive amount of polyphenols.

Ovarian cancer (OCa) is a common malignancy in women, and the role of cuproptosis and its related genes in OCa is unclear. Using the GSE14407 dataset, we analyzed the expression and correlation of cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs) between tumor and normal groups. From the TCGA-OV dataset, we identified 20 cuproptosis-related long non-coding RNAs (CuLncs) associated with patient survival through univariate Cox analysis.
