The escalating challenges associated with antibiotic resistance have posed formidable obstacles in the fight against microbial infections and the prevention of biofilm formation. To address this challenge, we developed PEB-COP-Cu, a low-cost, readily available copper-integrated covalent organic polymer (COP) with dual enzyme-like activities and intrinsic photoresponsiveness, to accelerate infected wound healing. This material was synthesized through the post-metallization process of a COF xerogel (PEB-COP), obtained a Michael addition elimination reaction, utilizing photoactive tetra-(4-aminophenyl)porphyrin (TAPP) and β-ketoenamine, specifically 1,3,5-tris(3-dimethylamino-1-oxoprop-2-en-yl)benzene (abbreviated as TDOEB), as the fundamental building blocks.

Sucrose non-fermenting 1-related protein kinase 1 (SnRK1) is one of the highly conserved Ca non-dependent serine/threonine protein kinases, playing a crucial role in regulating the stress responses, growth, and development of plants. SnRK1 is a three-subunit complex, and it is involved in responding to the signaling transduction induced by low-energy/low-sugar conditions. SnRK1 responds biotic and abiotic stress conditions (such as salt, drought, low/high temperatures, and diseases) through phosphorylation of key metabolic enzymes and regulatory proteins, regulation of transcription, and interactions with other proteins.

Here, we have developed a stereochemical engineering strategy utilizing structural isomerism to create multifunctional nonantibiotic biocides. This method allows for precise control of antimicrobial activity by adjusting the steric hindrance in conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs). By strategically managing the spatial arrangement of reactive groups in isomeric configurations (neo-iso and -iso), we successfully synthesized two isomeric Fe-phthalocyanine-based CMPs (iso-CMP-1 and iso-CMP-2) with triple-enzyme-mimetic activities: peroxidase (POD), oxidase (OXD), and catalase (CAT).

Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is extensively utilized for the recovery of bio-alcohols, but it encounters significant obstacles in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) removal, because of the narrow size for molecules diffusion. In this work, we designed a high-efficiency diffusion channel by introducing phenyl as a spacer into PDMS chains. The monomer divinylbenzene and vinyl-terminated PDMS (vinyl-PDMS) can be chemically crosslinked with thiol-grafted PDMS (thiol-PDMS) based on thiol-ene click reaction.

Humans no doubt use language to communicate about their emotional experiences, but does language in turn help humans understand emotions, or is language just a vehicle of communication? This study used a form of artificial intelligence (AI) known as large language models (LLMs) to assess whether language-based representations of emotion causally contribute to the AI's ability to generate inferences about the emotional meaning of novel situations. Fourteen attributes of human emotion concept representation were found to be represented by the LLM's distinct artificial neuron populations. By manipulating these attribute-related neurons, we in turn demonstrated the role of emotion concept knowledge in generative emotion inference.

Cerenkov radiation-induced photodynamic therapy (CR-induced PDT) has shown the potential to overcome the light penetration limitation in conventional PDT. In addition, the tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) produced by PDT can initiate an antitumor immune process but only show a limited immunotherapeutic effect without the use of immunotherapeutic agents. Herein, a CR-induced PDT hydrogel (R837/Zr-HG-PpIX) has been developed by in situ formation of a hyaluronic acid (HA)-based hydrogel integrated with internal light source Zr, photosensitizer protoporphyrin IX (PpIX), and immune adjuvant imiquimod (R837).
