Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is often associated with the infection of Epstein-Barr virus in nasopharynx and is mainly happened in South China and Southeast Asia. Recently, noncoding RNAs have been reported to regulate NPC carcinogenesis. LncRNA OIP5-AS1 participates in tumorigenesis and progression; however, the inherent mechanism of OIP5-AS1-mediated progression of NPC is unclear.

Temperature segregation during the paving of asphalt pavements is one of the causes of asphalt pavement distress. Therefore, controlling the paving temperature is crucial in the construction of asphalt pavements. To quickly evaluate the road performance of asphalt mixtures during paving, in this work, we used unmanned aerial vehicle infrared thermal imaging technology to monitor the construction work.

Alcohol intake is thought to be a risk factor for breast cancer, but the causal relationship and carcinogenic mechanisms are not clear. We performed an up-to-date meta-analysis of prospective studies to assess observational association, and then conducted MR analysis to make causal inference based on the genetic predisposition to alcohol consumption ("drinks per week") and pathological drinking behaviours ("alcohol use disorder" and "problematic alcohol use"), as well as genetically predicted DNA methylation at by alcohol-related CpG sites in blood. We found an observational dose-response association between alcohol intake and breast cancer incidence with an additional risk of 4% for per 10 g/day increase in alcohol consumption.

Glyphosate is a universal herbicide with genital toxicity, but the effect of glyphosate on oocytes has not been reported. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of glyphosate (0, 10, 20, 50 and 100 mM) on bovine oocyte maturation. We showed that 50 mM glyphosate adversely affects the development of bovine oocytes.

Silver selenide quantum dots (AgSe QDs), as a novel type of QDs, are valuable in the biomedical application due to their low-toxic and excellent optical property in near infrared region, but the biosafety assessment of AgSe QDs is rare. In this study, the findings suggested that the accumulation of AgSe QDs in the body of nematodes decreased the lifespan and damaged normal neurobehaviors of Caenorhabditis elegan (C. elegans).

Living in compact neighbourhoods that are walkable, well connected, with accessible green space can benefit physical and mental health. However, the pandemic raises concern up to what extent features of compact neighbourhood design affect transmission of viral respiratory infections. We conducted a systematic review to identify, appraise and synthesise evidence reporting associations between transmission of respiratory viruses, including Covid-19, and dwelling or population density or other features of neighbourhood design.

Fibroblast growth factor receptor 4 (FGFR4) has been identified as a potential target due to its transmission of the FGF19 signaling pathway, which is critical to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Therefore, focusing on the specific Cys552 of FGFR4 subtype, we designed and synthesized a novel family of 1,6-naphthyridin-2(1)-one derivatives as potent and highly selective FGFR4 inhibitors. Through detailed structural optimizations, the representative compound exhibited improved FGFR4 inhibitory capability and selectivity and excellent anti-proliferative activities against FGFR4-dependent HCC cell lines.

Various piezoelectric nanomaterials were utilized in ultrasound-mediated atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), owing to their outstanding piezoelectric effect. However, the relationship between the morphology of those piezocatalysts and polymerization has not been clearly established. Herein, we employed different piezoelectric zinc oxide (ZnO) nanomaterials to achieve novel mechano-induced ATRP (mechano-ATRP).

Photoinduced atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) has been proved to be a versatile technique for polymer network formation. However, the slow polymerization rates of typical ATRP limited its application in the field of additive manufacturing (3D printing). In this work, we introduced carbon quantum dots (CQDs) for the first time to the ATRP in aqueous media and developed an ultrafast visible-light-induced polymerization system.

Rivers in urbanised cities are often polluted, black, and odorous, with poor water quality and deteriorated ecology. Despite many river restoration studies, assessments of ecological responses to river restoration practices remain scant. Benthic animals are useful biological indicators showing the change and succession of river ecosystems; however, previous studies have mainly focussed on a few target species without considering overall ecosystem integrity.

The rapid development of the polymeric materials market has created an urgent demand for the thermoplastic polyamide elastomer (TPAE) owing to its greater functionality, and ability to be synthesized via a facile and industrial route. In this work, a series of novel silicone-containing polyamides (PA1212/Si12) were successfully synthesized from 1,12-dodecarboxylic acid (LA), 1,12-dodecarbondiamine (DMDA), and 1,3-bis (amino-propyl) tetramethyldisiloxane (BATS), via a one-pot melt polycondensation method in the absence of a catalyst. FTIR, H-NMR, GPC and inherent viscosity results cohesively prove that the polymerization of monomers was well conducted, and the chemical structure was in high accordance with the design.

Mitochondrial calcium ([Ca]) overload is considered a major trigger of cardiomyocyte death during myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Grpel2 is located in mitochondria and facilitates the mtHSP70 protein folding cycle in oxidative stress. However, Grpel2 expression during I/R injury and its impact on I/R injury remain poorly understood.

The combination sequence of traditional hybrid constructed wetlands (HCWs) affects the removal of nitrogen in raw sewage, but the effect of the combination sequence on nitrogen removal pathway have seldom been reported, especially the specific conditions allowing anammox to occur. Three-stage HCWs, namely vertical flow (VF), horizontal flow (HF) and surface flow (SF) constructed wetlands, were arranged in six different sequences to investigate nitrogen removal efficiencies and microbial removal pathways using metagenomic and stable isotope analyses. Results showed that the combination sequence significantly affected nitrogen removal pathways in HCWs.

Purpose: Although the risk effect of perceived discrimination on left-behind youth's mental health (mainly emotional problems) has been demonstrated in prior studies, there is a lack of longitudinal studies examining the effect of perceived discrimination on behavioral problems, particularly in emerging adults with early left-behind experience. In addition, little is known about individual differences in terms of this association. In the present study, we draw on the social information processing model of aggression to examine the effect of perceived discrimination and mindfulness on cyber aggression.

Auxin is a central phytohormone and controls almost all aspects of plant development and stress response. Auxin homeostasis is coordinately regulated by biosynthesis, catabolism, transport, conjugation, and deposition. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-localized MAIGO2 (MAG2) complex mediates tethering of arriving vesicles to the ER membrane, and it is crucial for ER export trafficking.

Flow-electrode capacitive deionization (FCDI) is viewed as a potential alternative to the current state-of-the-art electrodriven technology for the desalination of brackish water. However, the key shortcoming of the FCDI is still the discontinuous nature of the electrode conductive network, resulting in low electron transport efficiency and ion adsorption capacity. Here, a novel magnetic field-assisted FCDI system (termed magnetic FCDI) is proposed to enhance brackish water desalination, simply by using magnetic activated carbon (MAC) as flow electrodes.

Insertion/deletion markers (InDels) become an important marker for forensic medicine because of their compatible typing techniques with STRs and lower mutation rates. Recent years, a new kind of DNA marker named Multi-InDel was reported as characterized by two or more tightly linked InDel loci within a short length of physical position, usually 200-300 nucleotides. Many pieces of research showed that Multi-InDels had excellent application values in ancestry inference and forensic medicine.
