Plants and their interaction partners offer unparalleled views of evolutionary ecology. Nectar larceny, entailing nectar extraction without pollinating, is thought to be an example of a harmful, antagonistic behavior, but the precise consequences of floral larceny on plant reproductive success remain contentious. We conducted a comprehensive meta-analysis of 153 studies across 120 plant species, using 14 moderators to assess the effects of floral larceny on plant reproductive success and examine the key moderators.

However, the high degree of polymerization of PSP, extracted using conventional methods, limits its bioavailability. This study established the optimal processes for ultrasound-assisted alkaline depolymerization to produce oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPSP) from PSP content (2.

Tumour-derived exosomes play a crucial role in tumour growth, metastasis, immune regulation, and monitor disease development. Hence,we established an RNA-sequencing dataset for long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), microRNA (miRNA), and messenger RNA (mRNA) in the plasma and tumour-derived exosomes from four patients with cardiac myxoma-related ischaemic stroke (CM-IS) and six patients with cardiac myxoma without ischaemic stroke (non-IS CM).

Understanding the sediment release and plant bioaccumulation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) under submerge-emerge alternation (SE) is crucial to predicting their transport and fate in the riparian zones. In the present study, a simulational device was firstly constructed to explore the effects of SE on the transport of PFASs in riparian sediment-plant systems and the underlying mechanisms. The submerge (CS) and emerge (CE) situations were compared.

Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is a life-saving procedure for sepsis but the benefit of CRRT varies and prediction of clinical outcomes is valuable in efficient treatment planning. This study aimed to use machine learning (ML) models trained using MIMIC III data for identifying sepsis patients who would benefit from CRRT. We first selected patients with sepsis and CRRT in the ICU setting and their gender, and an array of routine lab results were included as features to train machine learning models using 30-day mortality as the primary outcome.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the dynamic expression of the SMAD family during guided bone regeneration for the reconstruction of cranio-maxillofacial bone defects.
Methods: A swine model of guided bone regeneration was established with one side of the rib as the trauma group and the contralateral as control group. Periosteal and regenerative tissue specimens were harvested at 9 time points in the early, middle, and late phases, and were subjected to gene sequencing and tissue staining.
Background: Transcolonic endoscopic appendectomy (TEA) is rapidly evolving and has been reported as a minimally invasive alternative to appendectomy. We aimed to characterize the feasibility and safety of a novel unassisted single-channel TEA.
Method: We retrospectively investigated 23 patients with appendicitis or appendiceal lesions who underwent TEA from February 2016 to December 2022.
The Yangtze River (hereafter referred to as the YZR), the largest river in China, is of paramount importance for ensuring water resource security. The Yangtze River Basin (hereafter referred to as the YRB) is one of the most densely populated areas in China, and complex human activities have a significant impact on the ecological security of water resources. Therefore, this paper employs theories related to ecological population evolution and the Driving Force-Pressure-State-Impact-Response (DPSIR) model to construct an indicator system for the ecological security of water resources in the YRB.

However, long-chained PFAAs (n ≥ 7) featured with high persistence are still ubiquitously observed in aquatic environment. To understand the uptake behavior of short-chained PFAAs in aquatic macrophytes, the uptake kinetics, bioconcentration, and translocation of short-chained PFAAs (3 ≤n ≤ 6) in two typical free-floating macrophytes (Eichhornia crassipes and Ceratophyllum demersum) were investigated in the treatments with and without long-chained PFAAs (7 ≤n ≤ 11).
