Behçet's disease (BD) is a life-threatening systemic vasculitis characterized by polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) and macrophage activation. However, the interaction of PMN and macrophages remains elusive. To elucidate the potential dysregulation of BD PMN exosomes on macrophage activation, PMN exosomes from both BD patients and healthy controls are isolated, quantified and incubated with macrophages.

Purpose: The spinal surgery robot can provide precise preoperative or intraoperative surgical planning and guide the implementation of the surgical plan under real-time navigation monitoring. Researchers have recently begun exploring the use of robotic systems to assist in performing Percutaneous Endoscopic Lumbar Discectomy (PELD). However, prior studies have primarily focused on robotic-assisted transforaminal puncture.

Patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma are treated using conventional therapeutic approaches and a variety of molecularly targeted drugs. Nevertheless, therapeutic resistance emerges because of the high heterogeneity of the malignancy, often restricting the effectiveness of these interventions. Therefore, therapeutic resistance represents a significant obstacle in managing liver cancer.

The taxonomic validity of some genera and species within Psittacosauridae has been disputed, including that of , which has been synonymized with previously. To assess the validity of the former genus and species and elucidate the taxonomy and diversity in Psittacosauridae, we describe a nearly complete psittacosaurid skull (ZMNH M12414) with the aid of computed-tomography techniques. The specimen comes from the Lujiatun Unit of the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation, Liaoning, northeastern China, which has also produced , , and .

Objectives: This study is the first meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of monoclonal anti-TNF antibodies in patients with vascular Behçet's syndrome (VBS).

Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted on PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Medline Complete, and Web of Science. Pooled estimates of clinical response including complete response (CR) and partial response (PR), were calculated at 3, 6, and 12 months.

The diagnosis of Behçet's disease (BD) predominantly relies on clinical symptoms, indicating an urgent for identifying potential biomarkers for early diagnosis and disease stratification. We employed an in-depth proteomics platform based on data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry (DIA-MS) and customizable antibody microarray technology, combined with machine learning methods. By analyzing the proteomic data in the training cohort, we trained an XGBoost machine learning model, and validated the model in an independent cohort.

Background: Congenital birth defects (CBDs) significantly affect child mortality and disability worldwide, yet regional understandings of their burden and contributing factors remain poorly defined. This study examines global trends in prevalence, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), and mortality related to CBDs and their 11 subtypes from 1990 to 2021.

Methods: Employing data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021, this cross-sectional analysis covers CBD prevalence, mortality, and DALYs among children aged 0-14 years.

Background: Takayasu arteritis (TAK) presents as systemic vasculitis. Imaging is crucial for the diagnosis and evaluation of TAK, but the rational selection of imaging methods and interpretation of imaging results are major challenges in clinical practice, which can affect treatment decisions. This guideline aims to establish standardized protocols for selecting imaging modalities (as well as interpreting their findings) in TAK.

Background: Intraoperative navigation has significantly facilitated spinal surgery and enhanced surgical accuracy. Nevertheless, it is often encumbered by the need for expensive equipment, a complex workflow, and frequently exhibits inefficiencies. Leveraging permanent calibration technology, we have developed a novel two-dimensional fluoroscopic image navigation system with the aim of streamlining and expediting the navigation process.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) poses a significant therapeutic challenge, driving the need for novel treatment strategies. This study investigates the combination of photothermal therapy (PTT) and metalloimmunotherapy for HCC treatment using Co + diABZI@J-dICG nanoparticles. Indocyanine green (ICG), an FDA-approved near-infrared (NIR) dye, is dimerized into J-aggregates to enhance PTT by improving light absorption and photothermal efficiency.

Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (HIRI) substantially influences the prognosis of liver transplant recipients. Although kynurenic acid (KYNA) has been associated with protective effects against ischemia-reperfusion injury in various organs, the precise mechanisms underlying its protective role in HIRI are not well elucidated. In this study, a 70% mouse HIRI model and an in vitro hypoxia/reoxygenation model were employed to examine the protective effects of KYNA on HIRI.

Nucleic Acid Binding Protein 2 (NABP2), a crucial regulator in the single-stranded DNA-binding protein family, has been linked to the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and poor prognosis. However, the precise mechanisms by which NABP2 regulates HCC development, especially through metabolic pathways, remain unclear. In this study, we evaluated NABP2 expression in clinical HCC samples and analyzed its correlation with patient survival outcomes.

This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the consumption of different dietary fatty acids and the risk of bladder cancer. A quantitative analysis was conducted using data from the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial, which included 101,731 participants. The Cox proportional hazards model was used to calculate hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for bladder cancer risk in relation to dietary fatty acid intake.

The aim of the study was to investigate the therapeutic potential of exosomes secreted by endothelial cells (EC-exos) on steroid-induced osteonecrosis of femoral head (SNFH). First, we successfully obtained EC-exos through differential centrifugation. Then, the effects of EC-exos on mouse embryo osteoblast precursor (MC3T3-E1) cells under high concentration of dexamethasone (Dex) were analysed , which included cell migration, viability, and apoptosis.

Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) have prompted a frenzy in utilizing them as universal translators for biomedical terms. However, the black box nature of LLMs has forced researchers to rely on artificially designed benchmarks without understanding what exactly LLMs encode. We demonstrate that pretrained LLMs can already explain up to 51% of the genetic correlation between items from a psychometrically-validated neuroticism questionnaire, without any fine-tuning.

Autophagy is associated with chemoresistance, which is the leading cause of failure in chemotherapeutic treatments. Among the various aspects of autophagy, autophagic flux serves as a critical indicator for evaluating the dynamic processes involved. We report herein that the multifunctional protein HAX-1 promotes chemoresistance by effectively blocking the fusion of autophagosomes with lysosomes.

Metabolic disorders and diminished immune response are hallmark characteristics of tumors. However, limited studies have comprehensively integrated metabolic and immunological factors to evaluate or predict the prognosis of cancer patients. In this study, we utilized 72 metabolic pathway gene sets from the MsigDB database to conduct GSVA, univariate regression, and prognostic analyses on 247 breast cancer samples sourced from the TCGA and GEO databases.

The ecological cultivation of herbs is gaining popularity due to its superior quality and greater economic value, with increasing applications in functional foods. However, profit-driven motives have led to the mislabeling of conventionally grown herbs as ecologically cultivated. Species consistency presents new challenges in authenticity identification, especially in detecting adulteration.
