Coal gangue, a primary byproduct of coal mining, causes significant environmental harm due to its improper utilization. This research proposes integrating microalgae with coal gangue-derived ecological products to improve soil conditions in ecologically vulnerable coal-mining regions. A field-scale experiment at the Jintong Coal Mine tested soils amended with varying proportions of a coal gangue ecological matrix (0%, 10%, 30%, and 50%), with and without microalgae inoculation.

An FeCl-catalyzed [4 + 2] cycloaddition of vinyldiazo compounds with -acyliminium cations generated from 3-hydroxyisoindolinones is described. A series of diazo-containing isoindolo[2,1-]quinolinones were constructed in good yields with excellent diastereoselectivities, including those with three contiguous stereogenic centers. The resultant products were readily converted into various isoindolo[2,1-]quinolinone derivatives based on the rich chemistry of the remaining diazo functionality.

The efficient and eco-friendly removal of lignin is a critical challenge for bioethanol production from lignocellulosic biomass. Herein, we report the integration of laccase with deep eutectic solvents (DESs) for the pretreatment of corn stover to enhance the production of reducing sugars. Three betaine-based DESs were prepared and tested for their effects on the activity and stability of a bacterial laccase from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens LC02.

To investigate the effect of hybrid fibers on the compressive strength of aeolian sand concrete, compressive strength tests were conducted on aeolian sand concrete with single polypropylene fibers and aeolian sand concrete with mixed polypropylene fibers and calcium carbonate whisker, and their variation rules were studied. Using scanning electron microscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance, the microstructure and pore structure of specimens were analyzed, and a mathematical model of the relationship between compressive strength and pore structure was established with gray entropy analysis. The results show that the compressive strength of hybrid fiber aeolian sand concrete first increases and then decreases with an increase in whisker content.

YAP1 functions in lineage differentiation of pluripotent embryonic stem cells (ESCs); however, the detailed mechanisms underlying the regulation of YAP1 activity during ESC differentiation remain elusive. Here, we report that hCINAP serves as a negative regulator of YAP1 during ESC fate decisions. The expression of mCINAP, the murine homolog of hCINAP, is downregulated during the differentiation process of murine ESC (mESC) ectoderm lineage, leading to liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) of NEDD4 and activation of YAP1.

NEDDylation has been shown to participate in the DNA damage pathway, but the substrates of neural precursor cell expressed developmentally downregulated 8 (NEDD8) and the roles of NEDDylation involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) are largely unknown. Translesion synthesis (TLS) is a damage-tolerance mechanism, in which RAD18/RAD6-mediated monoubiquitinated proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) promotes recruitment of polymerase η (polη) to bypass lesions. Here we identify PCNA as a substrate of NEDD8, and show that E3 ligase RAD18-catalyzed PCNA NEDDylation antagonizes its ubiquitination.

Zr-N-codoped TiO2 nano-photocatalyst was prepared through sol-gel method using ammonia water and zirconium nitrate as the source of N and Zr, respectively. The resulting materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS). XRD results showed that codoping with Zr and N elements could greatly inhibit the phase transformation of TiO2 from anatase to rutile.

In this study, the effects of endogenous amylase, endogenous protease and combined amylase/protease pretreatment of sludge were studied to enhance the efficiency of sludge anaerobic digestion. These enzymes were obtained from bacterial fermentation and bacteria were separated from the sludge. All treatments improved sludge solubilization and acidification but had little influence on the floc sizes.
