Acute kidney injury (AKI) frequently arises as a complication of hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (HIRI), yet simultaneous optical imaging of both remains challenging due to the lack of unimolecular dual-responsive probes. Herein, we report a library of hemicyanine-based chemiluminophores (HCLs) with tunable emission to second near-infrared window (725 - 1025 nm) achieved by integrating bicyclic dioxetane onto hemicyanine skeletons to develop multiple-responsive chemiluminescent probes. HCL1 and HCL5 respectively emitting at 725 nm and 1025 nm are selected to construct a cascaded activatable reporter CAR for crosstalk-free duplex chemiluminescence imaging of interlinked biomarkers.

Vitamin K is an essential nutrient obtained from dietary sources and commonly included in mainstream dietary supplements, playing a key role in regulating physiological functions and maintaining overall health. However, the causal nature of such associations between vitamin K nutritional status and diseases remains obscure. The existence of causality helps to prove the possibility of vitamin K becoming a biomarker for predicting susceptibility to certain diseases.

Impressively, the porous Fe@Cu bimetallic organic gels (Fe@Cu MOGs) act as coreaction accelerators and confinement-enhanced reactors of the luminol-HO ECL system, amplifying the ECL signal by 21-fold compared to the traditional luminol-HO ECL system, which greatly enhanced the sensitivity of the biosensor. Compared to the homosequence aptamer approach with competitive binding of aptamers to a single site, the heterosequence aptamer approach with synergistic binding to multiple sites could greatly improve the specificity of aptasensor, which is validated by experiments and molecular docking simulations.

In contrast, traditional extraction methods such as ultracentrifugation and size-exclusion chromatography are limited by their time intensity, cost, and scalability. To overcome these limitations, we propose a method integrating a hemodialyzer and ultracentrifugation.

Oxidation reactions, which represent a fundamental process in organic transformations, have consistently advanced over several decades. Owing to the widespread application of aqueous and photochemical synthesis, research on light-induced oxidation in water, involving radical processes, has also experienced rapid development. Recently, numerous strategies for light-induced aqueous oxidation have been ingeniously designed and developed.

Hearing loss is the most prevalent neurosensory disorder in humans, with significant implications for language, social and cognitive development if not diagnosed and treated early. The present systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to determine the rate of hearing screening pass and genetic screening failure [universal newborn hearing screening (UNHS) pass/genetic failure] and to investigate the advantages of combining newborn hearing and genetic screening for newborn hearing impairment. The PubMed, Embase and Cochrane databases were searched from inception to September 2023 to identify studies reporting the combination of neonatal hearing screening with genetic screening.

This work describes a novel paper-based colorimetric biosensor for the rapid and sensitive bacteria detection. The biosensor was constructed via the encapsulation of D-alanyl-D-alanine capped gold nanoparticles (DADA-AuNPs) in a modified paper that was fabricated by the freeze-drying of TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibers/cationic guar gum composite hydrogel-modified filter paper.

Tissue inhibitor metalloproteinase-2·insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (TIMP-2·IGFBP7) determines tubular stress markers, which may occur prior to tubular damage. Previous studies on the use of TIMP-2·IGFBP7 for the prediction of CSA-AKI showed divergent results.

Background: Ferroptosis plays an important role in acute kidney injury (AKI), but the specific regulatory mechanism of ferroptosis in AKI remains unclear. This study is expected to analyze ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) in AKI and explore their underlying mechanisms.
Results: A total of 479 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), including 196 up-regulated genes and 283 down-regulated genes were identified in the AKI chip GSE30718.
Skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM) constitutes a malignant cutaneous neoplasm characterized by an exceedingly unfavorable prognosis. Over the past years, necroptosis, a manifestation of inflammatory programmed cell demise, has gained substantial traction in its application. However, a conclusive correlation between the expression of necroptosis-related genes (NRGs) and SKCM patient's prognosis remains elusive.

This cascade radical reaction constructs two new C-C bonds and two rings to afford 3-aminotetrahydro-1-carbazols with high atom and step economy. The mechanism is rationalized as involving sequential distonic radical cation formation/isocyanide insertion/5--trig cyclization/intramolecular iminium ion addition/tautomerization.

To maintain normal cell growth and intracellular metabolism, the uridine must be maintained at certain concentration. Recent studies have shown that uridine can reduce inflammatory response in organisms, participate in glycolysis, and regulate intracellular protein modification, such as glycosylation and acetylation.

Background: COVID-19 could develop severe respiratory symptoms in certain infected patients, especially in the patients with immune disorders. Gut microbiome and plasma metabolome act important immunological modulators in the human body and could contribute to the immune responses impacting the progression of COVID-19. However, the causal relationship between specific intestinal bacteria, metabolites and severe COVID-19 remains not clear.

Impressively, massive output DNA was transformed from small amounts of target thrombin by highly effective DNA walker amplification as protein-converting strategy, which could then induce the immobilization of functionalized nanozyme on the electrode surface to achieve the high-efficient electrochemical biomimetic enzyme cascade amplification. As a result, an amplified enzyme cascade catalytic signal was measured for thrombin detection ranging from 0.

Background: Lymph node (LN) metastasis is strongly associated with distant metastasis of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and indicates an adverse prognosis. Accurate LN-status prediction is essential for individualized treatment of patients with RCC and to help physicians make appropriate surgical decisions. Thus, a prediction model to assess the hazard index of LN metastasis in patients with RCC is needed.

Background: There are limited studies on the association between angiogenesis-related genes (ARGs) and the predictive risk of melanoma, even though angiogenic factors, which are essential for tumor growth and metastasis, might be secreted by angiogenesis-related protein in skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM). To forecast patient outcomes, this study attempts to develop a predictive risk signature linked to angiogenesis in cutaneous melanoma.
Methods: In 650 patients with SKCM, the expression and mutation of ARGs were examined, and this information was related to the clinical prognosis.
