Background: Modic changes refer to bone marrow alterations beneath vertebral endplates and are potentially linked to infection, trauma, disc degeneration, scoliosis, and other pathological conditions. Systematic evaluations of their incidence and associated risk factors in the lumbar spine are lacking. This study aimed to analyze and evaluate the incidence and risk factors of Modic changes in lumbar spine disorders.

Background: This study explored the prognostic role of GPR27 and its predictive value to platinum-based therapy in ovarian cancer.
Material And Methods: A survival analysis of GPR27, and the therapeutic response to platinum in ovarian cancer was investigated using data from the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases. GPR27 expression was assessed using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and immunohistochemistry.

Objective: To investigate the effect of autologous osteochondral tissue and periosteum transplantation on tendon-bone healing of rotator cuff in rabbits.
Methods: Twenty-four male New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into autologous osteochondral tissue and periosteum transplantation group (experimental group, =12) and simple suture group (control group, =12). Both groups were subjected to acute supraspinatus tendon injury and repaired with corresponding techniques.

The process of regenerating bone injuries in diabetic presents significant challenges because lysine oxidase (LOX), a key catalytic enzyme for collagen cross-linking, is inhibited in hyperglycemia. The supplementation of LOX is constrained by inadequate sources and diminished enzymatic activity, necessitating the development of effective alternatives for enhancing bone regeneration in diabetes. Herein, we reported a lysyl oxidase nanozyme (LON), derived from the catalytic domain of LOX.

This study aims to identify non-invasive evaluative indicators that facilitate the differentiation between STB and BS.
Methods: This study conducted a retrospective collection of clinical features, laboratory tests, and imaging characteristics from 89 patients diagnosed with STB and 66 patients diagnosed with BS.
Background: For patients with osteoporosis and rotator cuff tears, there is still no consensus on current treatment methods. The material, structure, and number of anchors have important effects on the repair outcome.
Purpose: To investigate the use of chitosan quaternary ammonium salt-coated nickel-titanium memory alloy (NTMA) anchors to treat rotator cuff injury in shoulders with osteoporosis in a rabbit osteoporosis model.
Objectives: Thoracic spinal tuberculosis (TB) is still common, and surgical treatment can rapidly relieve pain, correct deformity, reduce bone loss and prevent further damage to neurological function. We have practiced an efficient and safe surgical method.
Methods: From January 2013 to April 2021, 38 patients with thoracic spinal TB were included in our study.
Spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury, a severe form of spinal cord damage, can lead to sensory and motor dysfunction. This injury often occurs after traumatic events, spinal cord surgeries, or thoracoabdominal aortic surgeries. The unpredictable nature of this condition, combined with limited treatment options, poses a significant burden on patients, their families, and society.

Low back pain significantly impacts individuals' quality of life, with intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) being a primary contributor to this condition. Currently, IDD treatment primarily focuses on symptom management and does not achieve a definitive cure. The cartilage endplate (CEP), a crucial nutrient-supplying tissue of the intervertebral disc, plays a pivotal role in disc degeneration.

Objective: The guidelines recommend early caffeine administration for preterm infants requiring non-invasive mechanical ventilation since earlier treatment is associated with better outcomes. The objective was to evaluate the impact of early caffeine therapy (within 24 hours after birth) on respiratory outcomes in very preterm infants who were initially receiving invasive mechanical ventilation.
Methods: This was an observation cohort study from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2022 based on a database that was prospectively collected and maintained.

The incorporation of viscoelastic layers in laminates can markedly enhance the damped dynamic characteristics. This study focuses on integrating viscoelastic layers into the composite facesheet of the bowtie-shaped honeycomb core composite sandwich panel (BHC-CSP). The homogenization of the damped BHC-CSP is performed by employing the variational asymptotic method.

Methods And Materials: A total of 205 patients with NSCLC underwent preoperative CT and were divided into two groups: DCB (progression-free survival (PFS) ≥ 18 months) and non-DCB (NDCB, PFS <18 months). The density percentiles of PD-L1 and CD8 + tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) were quantified to estimate the TIMT.

Purpose: To construct a nomogram for predicting lymphovascular invasion (LVI) in N0 stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) findings combined with clinical findings.
Methods: We retrospectively recruited 135 patients with N0 stage NSCLC from two hospitals underwent DECT before surgery and were divided into development cohort (n = 107) and validation cohort (n = 28). The clinical findings (baseline characteristics, biochemical markers, serum tumor markers and Immunohistochemical markers), DECT-derived parameters (iodine concentration [IC], effective atomic number [Eff-Z] and normalized iodine concentration [NIC], iodine enhancement [IE] and NIC ratio [NICr]) and Fractal dimension (FD) were collected and measured.
Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials and retrospective controlled studies aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of high-dose tranexamic acid (TXA) in spinal correction surgery for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients.
Methods: In March 2024, a comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane databases to identify randomized controlled trials and retrospective controlled studies comparing the effects of high-dose TXA on blood loss and transfusion requirements during spinal correction surgery.
Results: This meta-analysis included 10 studies encompassing a total of 741 patients.

Methods: From January 2016 to December 2020, the data of 57 patients with lateral meniscus popliteal tendon injury treated by arthroscopic popliteal tendon suture fixation were retrospectively analyzed, including 35 males and 22 females, aged from 18 to 47 years old with an average of (32.9±7.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection has emerged as a global public health issue, predominantly manifesting as pulmonary tuberculosis. Bone and joint tuberculosis, with spinal tuberculosis accounting for approximately 50%, represents a significant form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. Over the past years, there has been a rise in the incidence of spinal tuberculosis, and research concerning this area has gained significant attention.

The newly discovered growth self-inhibition phenomenon of tautomeric crystals is now generalized to the demostrope (form B) of irbesartan that displays intra-annular tautomerism in neutral aqueous solutions. The dynamic intra-annular tautomer inter-conversion on the surface is the key factor. Our findings provide implications for producing and engineering tautomeric materials.
