Objective: Relatively few studies have investigated the link between the Life's Essential 8 (LE8) score and depression among individuals with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Our objective was to explore the potential association between the LE8 score and the presence of depression in adults aged ≥40 years who diagnosed with COPD.
Methods: Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) spanning 2005-2018 was used in this study.
Bacterial infections, oxidative stress and inflammatory responses after tendon surgery are highly associated with peritendinous adhesion formation. Although drug-loaded anti-adhesion barriers have been extensively studied, most of them lack control over the process of drug release from the anti-adhesion barrier and fail to coordinate with the tendon's own biological mechanisms. Here, inspired by the mechanisms of tendon adhesion development, an anti-peritendon adhesion hydrated fibrous gene patch with antimicrobial antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity was developed.

Type Ⅱ collagen (COLⅡ) is the primary constituent of the cartilage matrix, specifically present in vitreous bodies, cartilage, bone, and other skeletal elements. Therefore, the normal expression of COLⅡ is crucial for the normal development, linear growth, mechanical properties, and self-repairing ability of cartilage. Chondrocalcin, the C-propeptide of type Ⅱ procollagen, is not only a marker of COLⅡ synthesis but also one of the most abundant polypeptides in cartilage.

Liver disease constitutes a significant cause of global mortality, with its pathogenesis being multifaceted. Identifying effective pharmacological and preventive strategies is imperative for liver protection. Ginsenosides, the major bioactive compounds found in ginseng, exhibit multiple pharmacological activities including protection against liver-related diseases by mitigating liver fat accumulation and inflammation, preventing hepatic fibrosis, and exerting anti-hepatocarcinogenic effects.

In this study, we developed a hydrogel (PVNP-SP) using [VBIM]Br, NIPAM, PEGDA, and spirulina, which exhibited strong antioxidant properties. The incorporation of [VBIM]Br endowed the hydrogel with electrical conductivity, allowing it to activate voltage-gated ion channels under an external electric field, thereby promoting cell survival and migration.

Chronic wounds caused by hyperglycaemia, hypoxia and bacterial infections are common complications in diabetic patients and chronic wound repair is extremely challenging in clinical practice. A series of hydrogels QPMP with good antioxidant and antimicrobial functions were prepared based on quaternized chitosan (QCS), oxidized pullulan polysaccharide (OP), dopamine-coated polypyrrole (PPY@PDA), and Chlorella vulgaris. The Schiff base cross-linking between the quaternized chitosan (QCS) and oxidized pullulan polysaccharide (OP) constitutes the basic skeleton of the hydrogel, and imparts a certain antimicrobial ability to the hydrogel.

The cornea serves as a vital protective shield for the eye, safeguarding its intricate internal structures from external threats. Damage to the cornea compromises this protective function, triggering inflammation and potentially causing long-term harm. While ginsenoside Rk3 has demonstrated potential for repairing the corneal barrier and reducing inflammation, its effectiveness in treating corneal damage remains relatively unexplored.

This study aimed to validate whether long-acting octreotide is a potential candidate for adjuvant therapy in patients with G2 PanNETs at high recurrence risk by clustering real-world data. A retrospective review of patients with nonmetastatic grade 2 PanNETs who underwent radical resection at six research centers between 2008 and 2020 was conducted.

Different protocols recommend evaluating the percentage of residual viable tumor (RVT%) and metastatic tumor size (MTS). Our aim was to determine the prognostic significance of RVT% and MTS, and identify the more effective parameter for pathological evaluating LNM.

Background: Circulating eosinophils are associated with tumor development. An eosinophil-related index, the neutrophil to eosinophil ratio (NER), can be used to predict the prognosis of patients with tumors. However, there is still a lack of efficient prognostic biomarkers for HCC.

Ginseng oligopeptides are naturally occurring small-molecule peptides extracted from ginseng that exhibit positive effects on health and longevity. However, the current industrial production of ginseng oligopeptides primarily relies on plant extraction and chemical synthesis. In this study, we proposed a novel genetic engineering approach to produce active ginseng peptides through multicopy tandem insertion (5 and 15 times).

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third most lethal cancer in the world. Recent studies have shown that suppression of autophagy plays an important role in the development of HCC. Ginsenoside Rk1 is a protopanaxadiol saponin isolated from ginseng and has a significant anti-tumor effect, but its role and mechanism in HCC are still unclear.

Methods: Blood smears were analyzed by MC-100i, verified by morphologists, and manually differentiated. The classification performance on WBCs and RBCs was evaluated by comparing the classification results using different methods.
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection has gradually been considered to associate with cancer development and progression. This study aimed to explore the associations of serological indicators of HBV infection with mortality risk among cancer survivors and further validated using a gastric cancer (GC) cohort from China, where HBV infection is endemic. National Center for Health Statistics' National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data were used in this study.

Background: Hepatic acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) is a major life-threatening complication of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). We hypothesized that contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) could serve as a new imaging biomarker in early diagnosis of hepatic aGVHD by detecting liver microcirculation.
Methods: Thirty Wistar rats received allo-HSCT were finally included after excluding 9 rats, and they were randomly divided into 5 groups (1- to 5-week groups, 6 per group).
Lung cancer is one of the mortal cancers and the leading cause of cancer-related mortality, with a cancer survival rate of fewer than 5% in developing nations. This low survival rate can be linked to things like late-stage detection, quick postoperative recurrences in patients receiving therapy, and chemoresistance developing against various lung cancer treatments. Signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) family of transcription factors are involved in lung cancer cell proliferation, metastasis, immunological control, and treatment resistance.
